Gone are the days of having to manually download from various databases and edit separate files on a monthly basis. I love the dashboard views and flexbility. GIves fp&a and our sales team direct insight to our business that the did not have previoulsy. I have to mention the customer service representative, Conor Barnett as well. He was a total game changer in getting us setup in the system, trained and thinking strategically to setup our environemnt for future success. Conor always had availbility when we needed him and never left us hanging on any issues we ran into. It felt as if we had him as part of our team for the greater part of the past year **What do you dislike about Datarails?** One area of improvement specially for us would be the drill down capabilites when dealing with a large and granular dataset and having the ability to pre select drill down parameters or fields would be a great option if it could be added. The good news is Conor Barnett was able to put us in touch with the development team and they were willing to hear our pain points and are currently looking into development solutoins to help us with our drill down capabilties. **What problems is Datarails solving and how is that benefiting you?** Budget process way easier and more efficient. Our sales team has dashboard views into our business they never had before. It has been a game changer for them. ### 8. Implementation was so tedious that we never got a full set of reports out of it, and only ended up using minimal reporting functionality for some areas that worked. The implementatin team was friendly and very knowledgeable of the product, but it was difficult for them to understand the more complex reporting challenges our comapny faced. The out of the box integration with Xero, our ERP is not fit for purpose (Invoices with multiple lines are not recorded properly). When we comunicated that we were changing for one instance of Xero to another, no extra support was offered to have the reintegration done, which is what made us quit the platform. **What problems is Datarails solving and how is that benefiting you?** Datarails helped with managing large datasets a bit faster than would have been possible in Power Query ### 9. First, Datarails hires Finance and Accounting professionals and this was a huge help in our implementation because our partner took the time to understand our business and help structure our financials in an efficient way for the system to process everything. The software provided my team a lot of benefits including the ability to streamline and automate monthly financial reporting packages and data validation. Additionally, Datarails has enabled the ability for our company to budget collaboratively and given us additional functionality in terms of forecasting, etc. Datarails is intuitive to professionals working in excel and the way of building formulas is very similar to SUMIFS style formulas or Pivot Tables. One of the things my team loves the most about it is smaller file sizes (60 mb models have become 2-3mb which makes them faster to work in and easier to share with members across our organization without having to break links, etc.) It's also easy to flow updates to the system if we are changing our chart of accounts, changing how businesses roll-up into regions. **What do you dislike about Datarails?** Not many things to think of. The platform is user-friendly and it's easy to build formulas. If you have your data in a good spot structure wise, Datarails does a great job of being able to process and produce outputs quickly **What problems is Datarails solving and how is that benefiting you?** Datarails help solve quite a few problems for us, including: Automating monthly financial close and report distribution Data Validation Collaborative budgeting and forecasting Ability to quickly produce ad hoc reporting Ease of adjusting data structure and account hierarchies Significantly reduced file sizes in excel that improves collaboration within the team All of the above enables our FP&A team to dive into the numbers and financial analysis vs. time spent ensuring reporting is correct and reconciled. I can move fast and leverage all of Excel's features without being hampered by limitations of other software that tries to duplicate Excel but can never quite get there. DataRails is simple enough that I don't need to waste money on expensive professional services. File management, where every version of a file is saved and tagged automatically for the correct financial period, has turned out to be one of the most underrated features. My budget owners find the weirdest ways to mess up their file or lose data, but with DataRails, I never lose their template and prior work. We have been able to do more in five months on DataRails than five years on our last software. **What do you dislike about Datarails?** Exporting large volumes of data or directly integrating to BI tools like Tableau could be improved. Permission management is time consuming and highly detailed. I wish there was a better way to lock an entire version with one or two clicks. **What problems is Datarails solving and how is that benefiting you?** Allowing my budget owners to work in Excel, with standardized templates, helps them work intuitively without the need for me to train everyone on new budgeting software. We also have very good customer support to help us walk through issues along with mentoring from the sales group. **What do you dislike about Datarails?** Sometimes when attempting to build new dashboards it's hard to tell which fields to drag in, and which fields to exclude. You can spend a long time dragging and dropping fields in and out of the field picker to figure out which ones work and which ones do not work. FX currency conversion to USD Consolidated reporting is a great feature with the flexibility to review reports in both the functional & reporting currencies. It is easy to drill down to the the source data to analyze the transaction details. Different reporting formats are available - dashboards, storyboards, report builder - though these are extremely useful, but the initial setup & learning requires time; once created & developed by the CSM. it is very easy to modify filters & drill down to create pivots and analyze the data. Ari Ben Zoor is our CSM and he was also the lead during the implementation & workspace setup. He is extremely diligent, dedicated & passionate about his work and has the required technical skills & beyond, to resolve any queries we have, and always offers alternative solutions that work. He always responds promptly (even on weekends & after hours) and takes the time to understand our business reporting needs. We are grateful to have Ari on our team and he deserves all the credit for the successful use of Datarails at our company. **What do you dislike about Datarails?** Data refresh can be slow; at times technical errors occur due to R&D updates at the back end - hence user needs to regularly validate output reports to ensure accuracy (though this does not happen frequently); There should be built in integrity checks before rolling out the updates; also alerts on any updates should be sent out to customers, specifying what areas should users be reviewing closely to ensure nothing is broken; creating new reports from scratch is not an easy task & cannot be done without the initial support & involvement of the CSM. A lot of other FP&A tools will tell you that 'the support at a small company like datarails' is lacking but that myth is total BALONEY. Whenever I have had a question, the support team has a crazy-fast response time and our implementation partner would always make time to jump on calls to help us out. 4) Lastly, there's a lot of room to submit your feedback and the platform is constantly being upgraded. It may not have every niche feature you want, but you're going into a software that is constantly getting better and better and your feedback is taken into account. The investment into learning the ins and outs of the system can take some time (as with anything), but once you've learned the 'flow' of datarails it will work well for you. 2) I would say the budget workflows and manual reporting workflows need a bit more work. Datarails has taken a multi-day process and turned it into a multi-second process. Along the way, we've discovered problems and errors and fixed them. Sunlight is the best disinfectant and Datarails has been a blazing midday sun. **What do you dislike about Datarails?** The learning curve is steep. I wish there had been an option for a more immersive and intense learning process so that I could climb that curve more quickly. That said, much of the delays and roadblocks were on my company's end - nothign Datarails could have done to solve that. **What problems is Datarails solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Xero as our accounting backbone. We have 4 instances of Xero and 2 distinct charts of accounts. Monthly consolidations was a nighmare. Our impetus for signing up was principally to add some rigor to the monthly consolidations and cut out the inevitable human error while reducing the time investment. Additionally, Datarails has a dashboarding function that will only add to what we can achieve with self-servicable reporting to our leaders. **What do you dislike about Datarails?** I honestly can't think of anything I dislike about Datarails or wish was there. Having used multiple systems like this in the past, Datarails is far superior to any other product out there. **What problems is Datarails solving and how is that benefiting you?** Datarails allows us to have a central respository of information where we are able to add custom coding in order to fit our internal reporting structure. Datarails has made it so we can continually add different metrics or classifications as we evolve internally without losing any historical classifications along the way.
