Plus, features like data sampling and SQL visualization add an extra layer of efficiency to my workflow - Being able to visually represent a chain of SQL transactions adds a whole new dimension to my workflow, making the entire data transformation journey more intuitive and efficient. The Datameer SaaS platform is perfect for data modeling for analysts with all levels of SQL skills. If analysts are not technical and prefer a GUI-based approach, Datameer provides an easy-to-use interface that enables the same end result as if the transformations were written directly in Snowflake. Datameer also allows users to switch between the GUI or SQL, or simply utilize SQL itself. Another nice thing about Datameer is the transformations are written back to Snowflake as Views rather than Tables, so analysts can store their queries without affecting the original data design. The tool is simple enough that users with no SQL knowledge can build reasonably complex transformation flows after a brief onboarding tutorial. The bells and whistles are limited, making for an easy-to-understand and less intimidating product for no-code users. The user interface needs a little work, but I'm sure somebody will work that over time. Datameer is an easy-to-use ETL platform and requires Less to NO coding skills. Non-technical people can easily navigate to GUI and build transformations with just a few clicks, SQL complex logics with just a few clicks. Datameer can be used for data transformation and analytics on the data, but row-level operations are a bit limited. Datameer is built for No-code SQL operations within snowflake so it cant be compared with ETL tools, it is UNIQUE among other ETL tools in the market. Non-SQL users can use this Datameer that generates the SQL queries in the form of views, this is a very good feature of Datameer. One more good feature is to extract the data in the form of CSVs at any step of the transformations that you do. Detailed documentation that explains every functionality and feature of Datameer. What do you dislike about Datameer? - Documentation needs to be organized properly - Row level operations are limited - Lookup – This can be achieved using SQL query in SQL editor but not using Objects. So SCD-2 m may not be possible with the given transformation objects - Merge operation – This can be done using SQL query but not using the objects available. Recommendations to others considering Datameer: If you are a non-SQL user then you should definitely use this tool. Easy to integrate with Snowflake and do transformations. We have used this Datameer in our snowflake for Google Search Console data that gets through AWS S3, used Datameer for transformations, moreover, we exposed our model to our clients to allow our users (who are mostly non-technical) to transform and filter and extract their data and reports in the required format. Datameer Spectrum connects to a multitude of data sources making it a great data integration solution. Very easy GUI lets us design complex ETL pipelines without spending time on coding. Easy to learn and master and includes transformation functions for any scenario. The Spark engine auto-scales and is very efficient. Try it out quickly, alongside a modern DW like Snowflake or AWS. Run a project for a month or two and make your own conclusions. 2. Datameer is affordable compared to other vendors like Informatica and Fivetran. Spectrum engine autoscale is included in the price so test it without worring about additional costs. 3. What problems is Datameer solving and how is that benefiting you? - ETLing of SaaS data to Cloud DWs (Snowflake & Redshift) - Replication of custom databases to DW (postgres, MySQL, etc) - Ingestion of CSV, JSON, and text files - Data virtualization of production databases Simplicity and consistency across the application. It just works as expected. People are surprised when I show them how easy it is to replicate a new dataset into our lake. - We completely modernized our pipelines 6 months earlier than planned with Datameer Spectrum without the need for any additional headcount. - Reduced production database import/export time from 5+ days to 10+ minutes and 300 TB storage is avoided with the virtualized databases.
