I like Commvault Cloud’s centralized backup management, automated backup scheduling, and reliable data recovery. It provides a comprehensive platform for managing backups across physical servers, VMs, and applications. I face MediaAgent connectivity issues, backup job failures, and issues related to Hyperscale storage. The initial setup was complex, particularly with our enterprise IT infrastructure and three-node Hyperscale environment. I like the unification in Commvault Cloud, where everything is in a single tool: reports, configurations, backups, and restorations, in addition to the DR function. The compatibility of Commvault Cloud with market technologies is also something I appreciate. It integrates with different virtualization platforms like Nutanix, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, and XenServer, which is a huge advantage for offering a level of protection in my environments. Regarding Commvault Cloud, I think what can be improved is the monitoring of hyperscale through the Command Center. Many pieces of information are only accessible through commands on nodes like hsxcollect. It would be nice if we could see this through the Command Center dashboard. I also believe that the integration between CommCell and Command Center is not yet 100%, with some configurations being done only through CommCell and others only in the Command Center. This has been my best experience with agent-based backups compared to other backup systems. It offers a lot of control while still being easy to use, for example when backing up databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL. I’ve also seen a very good deduplication ratio and high backup/copy performance. The integration with mixed and archive tiers of Cloud Storage (like OCI Archive Storage) is another plus. Expensive licensing, especially for workloads like M365. There are also some inconsistencies between the CommCell Console and Command Center. Command Center lacks some of the functionality that is available in the CommCell Console. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best part about Commvault Cloud is the centralized management it offers across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. It streamlines backups for a range of workloads, including VMs and SaaS applications, so data stays consistently protected without having to rely on multiple separate tools. The initial setup and configuration can feel fairly complex compared to some competitors. There’s also a steep learning curve to fully understand the interface and make the most of all the available features, which may be overwhelming for teams looking for a more “plug-and-play” solution.
