This took a bit more effort than we first anticipated, but the project is in great shape as a result. **What problems is Cascade solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were having difficulty with tracking and communicating our progress across dozens of elements of a complex project. Bringing the project into Cascade has allowed us to organise the elements, make them visible to all team members, and be accountable to the team for our progress. Regardless of who I have interacted with there, I have never seen a drift from this value. **What do you dislike about Cascade?** The live chat helpline is usually slow, time-consuming and has limited US operating hours. As many companies do, we have colleagues around the globe and need 24-hour service. Additionally, help may require escalation to a phone or Zoom call to solve the issue. These can be scheduled, but it is usually the next day or days later. **What problems is Cascade solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cascade is helping us create structure and expectations for building plans based on a consistent strategic model. We can now have complete transparency for the work being planned and accomplished from the front line to the CEO, which has never occurred before in our company. We can now elevate accountability and teamwork across departments, which was not easily achieved in our 67-year-old company set in its ways. We are just starting with Cascade, but the diagnostics allow us to see where we are succeeding and falling behind with our most important work. Finally, we are not experts are executing our strategy. The reason we chose Cascade was the access to help from their team of strategy execution experts. They have guided us to areas we did not know existed. It could be even better with clear guidelines on the customizations and how they impact the complexity of operations. It helps to engage people in all levels of the business, from the C-suite, through Business Unit Leaders, functional leaders through to people closer to the 'coal face' who have their part to play. It helps to connect people and parts of the business that may have traditionally been siloed. We really like the automated reporting, which is a huge time saver in a large organisation. It also steers strategists and business leaders towards better quality in the development of their strategies and, used properly, will help to eliminate 'fluff' and repetition in your strategy, ultimately leading to greater efficiency and time-saving. Certainly, anybody using Excel for strategy or strategy implementation needs to look at what this application can offer. Our Customer Success Manager, Ariel Fox, has also been a great help on our journey. **What do you dislike about Cascade?** In a large organisation, the onboarding can be time consuming, but that is to be expected. There can be some lag on certain items, such as Snapshot Reports and Dashboards. Cascade is a dynamic system which provides real-time information and simplifies what had been an extremely complicated reporting process for us. The ability to align goals across plans is a huge time saver when dealing with operational and supporting functions and removes duplication of effort. Cascade also provides great support, both from their database and their customer success managers. **What do you dislike about Cascade?** There have been a few minor issues with dragging and dropping goals when you want goals in a specific order but the benefits far outweigh these issues. **What problems is Cascade solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cascade provides a readily accessible platform for hosting our strategy and enables us to generate live updates at the push of a button. It has increased transparency and accountability for our Strategic Priorities and has allowed us to remove silo working and improve alignment. Here at University of Maryland Medical System, we recently rolled out our system-wide strategic framework that each of the 8 "member organizations" align to, and this tool is great at qualitatively aligning and building out actionable strategies. **What do you dislike about Cascade?** Cascade lacks in its quantitative and metric reporting abilities. At our hospitals, we like to visualize and trend out metric scorecards, and Cascade does not provide a "one-stop shop" for our users to update metrics in an easy way, as we are still having to enter metrics into an excel document.
