**What do you like best about BMC AMI Data?**

What I like best about BMC AMI Data is its exceptional ability to automate and optimize mainframe database management tasks, particularly for DB2 environments. The significant reduction in CPU and elapsed time during heavy utility operations—such as reorgs, loads, and image copies—has dramatically improved our overall operational efficiency and lowered infrastructure overhead. Additionally, the intelligent automation and smart scheduling features minimize manual intervention, allowing our team to streamline data availability and focus on higher-value engineering tasks rather than routine maintenance bottlenecks.

**What do you dislike about BMC AMI Data?**

One of the main challenges with BMC AMI Data is the steep learning curve associated with configuring and tuning its advanced automation parameters for newcomers to the mainframe ecosystem. Initial setup, policy configuration, and mastering the full suite of utility options require specialized training and can be time-consuming for teams transitioning from legacy scripts. Additionally, the licensing costs and resource overhead during peak execution windows require careful planning to prevent unintended strain on critical system resources.

**What problems is BMC AMI Data solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before implementing BMC AMI Data, we struggled with lengthy batch windows and manual database maintenance bottlenecks that risked SLA compliance, but now we can fully automate complex DB2 utility management and resource scheduling, which has resulted in significantly reduced batch runtimes, lower CPU consumption, and seamless data availability for our mission-critical enterprise workloads.

**What do you like best about BMC AMI Data?**

I like that BMC AMI Data makes day-to-day data management simpler with its fairly simple and straightforward interface, saving time on tasks that would otherwise consume more effort. It keeps the workflow straightforward by organizing data and related tasks in one place, reducing repetitive manual work and making it easier to handle larger data sets. Integrating BMC AMI Data into our existing data management environment is seamless, fitting into our workflow without requiring major changes.

**What do you dislike about BMC AMI Data?**

One area that could be improved is the learning curve for some of the more advanced features. The basic tasks are fairly straightforward, but understanding all the available options can take some time. More detailed guidance and clearer documentation for those features would make it easier to get the most out of the product. One suggestion would be to make the overall user experience a little more intuitive, especially for newer users. Clearer guidance around advanced features and more practical examples would make it easier to understand the different capabilities and use them effectively. Although the initial setup was fairly straightforward, I think the setup process could be made even easier with clearer step-by-step instructions for first-time users.

**What problems is BMC AMI Data solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use BMC AMI Data for efficient data management. It simplifies time-consuming tasks and makes accessing and organizing data easier, especially with large datasets. The straightforward interface saves time and reduces manual effort, making day-to-day data work more manageable and optimized.
