Furthermore, the application is designed to make you listen to what they recommend and not what you have chosen to listen to. I wanted to use it for when I go running or walking, and it's stressful to have to stop to correct the app. I don't plan to renew the subscription. **What problems is Blinkist solving and how is that benefiting you?** It would be good if it delivered on what it promises, but I don't like the user interface. It doesn't make it easy to listen to what one has prepared in the playlist. ### 2. If I had to nitpick, it’s that sometimes I wish there were even more niche titles. But the ability to read along silently or follow visually while listening is a huge win. K. | Wellness Advocate | Bridging Evidence-Based Practices with the Esoteric, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2024 **What do you like best about Blinkist?** Recommendations, Easy to use, Large library **What do you dislike about Blinkist?** The summaries are simplistic, I wish there was subject matter outside of self-help, Lack of diversity of authors summarized. **What problems is Blinkist solving and how is that benefiting you?** It does not solve a problem, when I am in a self-help book kind of mood I can see what blinkist has recommended based on previous recommendations i have gone through and see if there is a book I want to dive into. however, be aware that there aren't a lot of diverse reads recommended. For example, there is a whole spirituality section but you won't find Iyanla Vanzant, Howard Thurman, Michael Beckwith or any other black spiritualist - but you will find Wayne Dyer or Louise Hay. This is a bias that is glaringly noticeable and mildly offensive. The same goes for financial self-help they only recently got We Should All Be Millionaires. Blinkist fails to understand that people of color need to take advice from people of color because other self-help books are not taking into account privileges and biases that work in the author's favor. Also, you will not really learn anything from their summaries, use their summaries as recommendation guides to see if you want to read the book. ### 5. It does exactly what it says it does. You can get a quick list of key points from so many non-fiction books. Mabey the only thing would be that more titles would be rad. **What problems is Blinkist solving and how is that benefiting you?** I don't have time to read these books. Blinkist gets me the info I need to better myself and in the quickest bite-sized ways possible. I love it for siting at my desk or driving in the car. ### 10. Unlike a whole-book summary, the "blinks" tries to give you the essence of the book in key take-away points. **What do you dislike about Blinkist?** For someone who likes to read long-form content, "blinks" are too condensed to give you broader understanding. In addition, the free plan is so crippled that you absolutely need to have the paid plan to really see the value of the service. **What problems is Blinkist solving and how is that benefiting you?** When you don't have time to read the full book and want the key takeaways from a book, this is great. It's also a really good way to pre-screen books - if you appreciate the blinks or have deeper questions, you can see that it's worth taking the time to read the full book. ### 11.
