## Blackbaud TeamRaiser Reviews
  ### 1. The worst

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Riley K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

It has the potential to be highly customizable if you have a web developer who can write custom code.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I have had countless issues with participants navigating the website, registration, and their participant centers. It is so un-user-friendly, that it discourages registrations and donations. It also takes me so long to copy events year after year because of how complicated the site creation process is.
And on top of that, when technical issues occur (Share buttons don't work, mobile compatibility malfunction, etc), 90% of the time, they require you to hire a Blackbaud professional services member to fix it for you.
Please go with another platform for your P2P needs.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They have a pretty responsive customer support line and they are helpful for simple issues.

  ### 2. TeamRaiser Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney G. | Development Associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

the registration process, customizeable pages

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

There are no accessible features for visually impaired users and that there is not a good way to manage volunteers

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/A

  ### 3. Experience depends on need

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

The Event Management Center is fairly easy to navigate, reports are usually quick and easy to pull, there are a lot of great capabilities with sending customized, personalized emails, getting notifications of new teams, fundraising milestones, and making easy corrections of donation credit. You can easily switch between different events that you manage and also easily access past events that are no longer active. Being able to also pull reports from past events is very handy when assessing historical data and strategizing for the future.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Little customization at the individual event level for companies that have a very high volume of events. All events are on the same template and don't allow for individualization in almost any aspect. On a prior version of the template my company uses, the WYSIWYG was often buggy which meant that updating or making customizations to a page of your site was difficult.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By and large, it fits the need for having thousands of event sites that are all consistent and can be easily managed event to event because they are all on the same template. Donation processing, recognition, and credit is usually pretty reliable.

  ### 4. great tool for payments

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cassondra J. | EARN Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

we use this for our provider department at our large non profit organization. great tool to help us keep things organized to process payments for our providers. with money coming in from different sources, the interface makes it easy to redistribute that out as we see necessary. helps us to keep our budget in order. sleek design and ease of use.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I would like to see more software updates. also specifically i would prefer to be able to organize old payments by different categories.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Definitely recommend this product if you need to send out payments to a large amount of clients. very easy to use.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Paying our providers in an easy way.

  ### 5. Terrible customer service, constant issues

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Participant/ donor reports are relatively easy to pull

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Our volunteers always have issues with the TeamRaiser websites. The customer service is terrible. As an example, on the last day of our donation cycle, all our TeamRaiser pages weren’t working. Turns out that Blackbaud was doing routine maintenance, but they didn’t notify us first! This probably translates to thousands of missed dollars for us. I had so many donors and volunteers call me that day to say they couldn’t donate.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TeamRaiser allows us to give our volunteers more fundraising tools, which ultimately brings in more donations.

  ### 6. Good for basic needs

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

They helped us create some very nice websites

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Customer support is lacking - they often don't know how to fix the problems we have. If you want anything more than the basics, they'll charge you for every "customization". Many of the features don't line up well with our organization. They don't answer the "ideas" portal, but want you to continue to add ideas.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Great for basic needs or small organizations to simplify constituent records/create websites, but can get complicated/expensive if you need specifics they don't offer as a standard feature.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TeamRaiser provides us with a platform to house our constituent information. We have some nice websites that are mostly user friendly (although certainly not perfect). Participants of our events are able to have their own fundraising pages that they (and we) can use to track their progress and see other's progress to keep up the competition piece.

  ### 7. Team Raiser

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lynette Hizon F. | Senior Specialist - Endurance Programs & Partnerships, Fund-Raising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I love that I can manage multiple events in one account. I use this site as a manager and as a participant and it is fairly easy to use after some practice.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I hate that the website isn't totally compatible with certain web browsers. Some of the features as a participant are not as intuitive as they used to be. There have been changes in the website that have been hard to adjust to.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Before launching this site, make sure to practice and be completely comfortable with the site.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot of participants that fundraise online and this website is perfect for our needs.

  ### 8. Great option for not staffed events

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

This is a great platform for our teams to use when having events that aren’t staffed by the nonprofit. Often times teams want to have a website for a fundraising event but we aren’t able to provide that through our event website.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

It is completely set up and ran by the team, which means I can’t see the back end to help them when they need it.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving our fundraisers the ability to have a fundraiser website!

  ### 9. great for fundraising

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Easy to update sites using 'what you see is what you get'

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

The systems times you out- it'd be nice to be logged in and remain logged in.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

fundraising- eases the donation and sharing process

  ### 10. Great option for fundraising teams!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I love that teams are able to use this platform to fundraiser at events that aren’t directly supported by the nonprofit.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I can’t think of anything that I dislike.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving teams a way to collect funds from events not directly supported by our company.

  ### 11. Slightly satisfied

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica B. | Donor Care Specialist, Non-Profit Organization Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I like the user-friendly view, and the ease of setting up donation pages.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I dislike all the steps and complication to the back-end work

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping others form DIY fundraisers, be more self-sufficient.

  ### 12. Donation Management with "Scalable" Functionality

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate K. | Foundation and Corporate Relations Specialist, Individual & Family Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2016

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Ease of ability to link donations/registration from our website to the TeamRaiser database. As always, the Blackbaud customer service reps as amazing and were incredibly responsive during our initial launch of the product.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

This is a *monster* of a program and I'm sure I have not even begun to scratch the surface on what it can do. I used the product for one charity 5k to track donations and registration. It seemed to have a huge learning curve

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Be ready to spend some time learning the system. It would be preferable to build in several months of training (yes, months!) before your event and perhaps even have a "test event" in order to really understand everything this software has to offer. Blackbaud is fantastic and I will always sing the praises of their customer service reps, but daily calls to CSR can only go so far.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a way to easily track race participants, donors, corporate donors, and sponsors and then have that information quickly pulled to our website without an extra step. TeamRaiser gave our 5k an feeling of "sophistication" because of the website integration. It's what most runners are used to seeing, the thermometer on the side, the scrolling donations, etc. I can't be sure if this is what added to more running teams joining the event, but we did have a larger number than in previous years.

  ### 13. great fundraising tool but must invest in training

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maria S. | Senior Digital Marketing Manager, Fund-Raising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2016

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Teamraiser is a great tool for peer to peer fundraising. It gives you the option to really personalize your donor's experience with autoresponder. The participant center email tool is also a great way to get your participants to reach out to their friends to ask for money. Once you set one campaign up, it's pretty easy to set one for the following year.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

There are a lot of options available to you when you set up your campaign. It can be a bit overwhelming at times. Heavy training is definitely required, as well as testing things out before your campaign launches. I also don't love the higher transaction fee that we have to pay because we use the tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Invest in training someone to really learn the tool.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using the tool to get our supporter to raise funds for us during the holidays and summer time. Those are times of the year when food assistance is higher. One benefit that I have noticed is that the individuals that come back year after year, keep raising money and hardly need our help most of the time.

  ### 14. If you have the time and resources, it can be a great tool to raise funds.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa K. | Online Marketing Coordinator, Non-Profit Organization Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2015

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

That is a unique, colorful tool we can use to represent the power of someone's donation. There are a lot of ways to personalize a TeamRaiser for both the user, and as an event, so you can really make it your own and provide a unique experience for the participants.

Also, the coaching emails, milestones, and availability for participants to send personalize emails to their contacts are great ways to promote pages and our users.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

It is a lot of work to start each new campaign. There are so many options that have to be checked, rechecked, and processes that have to be done before it can be launched. It's not easy to reskin for different campaigns, and you have to be trained in s-tags to really take advantage of its powerful tools.

Also, when finished with a campaign and archived, I cannot find simple ways to find information from past fundraisers without unarchiving, and it messes things up for current campaigns.

Maybe there is a way to do this, but would be nice if there were simplified ways to do a quick fundraiser for special events that do not require so many bells and whistles, but still look nice and allow people to fund raise. For things like that, we use stuff like Crowdrise.

We've also had problems with teams and individual pages, and the differences between them, and I know that we do not use it to its fullest capability, but things can be confusing to figure out.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Though it can be a hassle to implement, and it takes some learning to not only setup, but run, the more we use it, the more we learn, and are better to cater it to our needs. I do enjoy TeamRaiser, but I wish it took less time to do certain things, and I had more time to learn how to improve the front-end as well as the back-end for our supporters. It has a lot of capability, and can be used for things besides the typical p2p events like running and walking.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to give the tools to raise money to our supporters, and let them make a difference within their circles. We also use it for events to do the same, and have had pretty great results.

  ### 15. TeamRaiser for Nonprofit Third Party Fundraising

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah M. | Officer, Data Assets, Civic & Social Organization, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2015

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I like that you can track participants, donors, teams and events

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

This system to set up TR is difficulty and not user friendly, you really have to be an expert to use this system. Also the cross referencing set up can be a nightmare if you don't know what you're doing and the the information I get from "support" is incomplete. I believe the difficulty is that the people in "support" aren't users so they don't really understand the system beyond the basic training they were given.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

If you're going to use this system spend time and money training your DB admin, data people and fundraisers. It is unfair to DB admins that training is usually reserved for the fundraising team, but DB admins are told to figure it out (this didn't happen at my org). Also train as many people as you can, we trained three people, one was our head of IT for set up, but the other two no longer work at the org and their experience and knowledge was not shared before they left.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TR gives everyone the opportunity to participate and support a cause in a way that is comfortable and mostly easy for them. We have increased the online fundraising for our annual walk and are collecting less cash on the day of the event, this makes it much easier for processing. however support for people using the website has increased, but that is to be expected as we shift from pledge forms to online.

  ### 16. Luminate Online Teamraiser Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charly J. | Speaking Engagements, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2015

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

This is by far LO's best product. It is used for some of the biggest fundraising events in B.C. & across Canada like BC SPCA's Paws for a Cause or The Ride To Conquer Cancer. HSUS also uses it as their 3rd party fundraising platform at myhumane.org. It's a great product if you have the money or skills to develop the outward facing side of things. It works well with the LO CRM for the most part and it's really nice to have everything in one place.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Where do I begin?! Convio (now LO) was acquired by Raiser's Edge who have spent all their time updating RE to the new cloud based format (which doesn't work with Canadian Privacy laws because they have no servers in Canada) and LO has received nothing but a mild facelift for years. At a time where everything is rapidly moving to mobile, this has created a huge gap in where Teamraiser needs to be.
It has very poor functionality for multi location events - you have to create a separate Teamraiser for every location.
You have to do custom APIs for so many things to get it how you need it, it's insane - everything from changing the 'search for participant' text to Donation Forms to true mobile functionality. You really need an ace team of developers on your side to make it how management 'envisions' the site.
It's not always user friendly, assigning terrible long user names, creating duplicate records if someone loses their password, etc.
The support is really not that good, because LO has so many different functions, no one seems to be an expert on anything.
There are a ton of tiny things that are challenging with Teamraiser - that being said I have used a couple other programs like Give2gether which are much less customizable and don't always integrate well with your CRM.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Get ready to spend money on development annually. There is talk from RE that LO will finally be getting the upgrade it needs launched in 2018, so if you can wait a couple of years, do it.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Despite its finicky nature, it works. It really does the job for events, 3rd party or internal. Making it look pretty is just a bit of a challenge. As 3rd party fundraising grows and traditional events go through their regular cycles it is making money for the organization so you really can't complain that much.

  ### 17. Adapting TeamRaiser for Virtual Fundraising Teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt M. | Retention and Engagement Senior Manager, Non-Profit Organization Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2015

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Originally TeamRaiser was part of the overall package we purchased through Convio (now part of Blackbaud). We didn't have a specific usage in mind, because we were focused on converting our donor database and building our standard giving forms. We were not an organization that held in-person events like walks or runs. However, we quickly realized that TeamRaiser could be adapted for us to create a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign for virtual teams. We wanted to allow our supporters to create a campaign to support one of our programs, and raise funds. We decided to focus on Christmas fundraising under the campaign theme of "Change Their Story." What I liked most is that TeamRaiser was able to set up the teams and provide a rich user experience for our supporters. The first year we had about 40 supporters create campaigns. Each year that grew, and we were able to continue customizing the look, feel, and functionality of TeamRaiser in its native / out-of-the-box functionality. Most modifications were made by non-technology professionals, and when needed it was easy for our technology partners to adapt TeamRaiser for our needs. It was a complete solution for us as a small organization--and allowed us to create a signature annual campaign that we had up and running in about a month's time. It transformed how we looked at year end fundraising and ended up acquiring many new donors through peer-to-peer networking and fundraising.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

TeamRaiser was described to me as "All of Convio in one module" this was a very true statement. The most challenging aspect was the customization. My primary dislike was the fast logout of the Participant Center. Most of our support calls came from participants who had spent time trying to customize a fundraising letter in the PC, and they were logged out and lost work. This caused us to change the banner of the PC to say, "save your work often." There was no way for us to set the logout period for the PC, and that was a major supporter frustration. That was one of the few things we couldn't customize to our liking.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

There are other P2P products that standalone and are probably easier to use/customize. If you are looking at the Convio/Blackbaud suite and want an easy to use solution right out of the box, then this is a great product. Ultimately, the organization I worked for did grow into a different product as the campaign grew.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned previously, we needed a tool allowing us to raise funds quickly through a peer to peer platform. We weren't in the position to build our own. The campaign we built has become an annual signature event that helps fund dozens of projects for children living in vulnerable communities. Because most of the funds were from new donors connected to our existing constituents, we were able to create new revenue streams. Our organization won, "Best Overall Use of Blackbaud" in 2012.

  ### 18. Difficult to set up and expensive to purchase

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

It looked very nice and professional to outside visitors

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

It was expensive to set up and we were not able to make changes internally.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Try it before you purchase of sign a contract. We were promised that it would eventually interface with Raiser's Edge but it never did for us.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was supposed to help us with fundraising events but was just too difficult to use.

  ### 19. TeamRaiser: A Solid Out-Of-Box Solution for Fund Raising Campaigns

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael G. | Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2016

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

TeamRaiser is extremely useful because it's highly configurable and has a lot of features built into it -- no assembly required! Users can create their own customized webpages and email appeals to friends and family seamlessly!

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Assigning a merchant account to your account can be a difficult and cumbersome process.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Consider using Blackbaud's support service offerings to get the most out of TeamRaiser.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TeamRaiser helped me be able to set up fundraising campaigns for several clients. Since there is a lot of functionality that comes out-of-box, it saved me a lot of time and effort. As a result, I could focus more on configuring their campaigns and setting up a look-and-feel that meshes well with my clients' brand.

  ### 20. Gets the job done, for a price

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

If you have the resources to invest in configuring everything properly, this will get the job done.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

The platform is clunky overall and has been surpassed by others in the industry. While it is billed as fully customizable, this is beyond typical internal resources and requires you to use consultants.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Make a list of your requirements and examine carefully if TeamRaiser fulfills them. Also consider other platforms that offer the same functionality without requiring a multi-year contract.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing supporters to make peer to peer donations.

  ### 21. I would not recommend TeamRaiser to a small organization like mine

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2015

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

The people can restart their teams and fundraising pages based off of the previous year.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

I do not think it is user friendly at all, especially not on the back end, but we get a lot of complaints about the front end as well. Tech support is also really unhelpful, and has told us the wrong thing on more than one occasion, and our "Customer Success Manager" literally just stopped answering our calls and emails.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

I would only do it if you have at least 1 staff member whose full time job is TeamRaiser.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not sue how to answer this question ... we are using the product for a few events.

  ### 22. Unweildy, confusing reports, but unsure of a way to do it better.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2016

**What do you like best about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

It tracks all the variables we need for our 5K.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud TeamRaiser?**

Interface very counterintuitive, reports especially confusing and it took my many tries to get them exactly right.

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud TeamRaiser:**

Get the RE integration piece (which we did not know existed because nobody told us). Use all your available training hours.

**What problems is Blackbaud TeamRaiser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to track donations for our 5K
