## BackBox Reviews
  ### 1. Effective Backup of Network Device Configuration Using Backbox

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolina S. | Senior System Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2024

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

I perform the system routine, which includes the whole of our network devices, so I can develop and execute scripts in a secure way with no difficulty. It's the name of the product, that is a very easy but powerful tool that they always helped me to be able to be on top of a network task. The team of experts that provides support is effective and fast, making sure any problem is taken care of the right way.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

If I were to improve it, I would suggest adding a wider combination of small scripts suppliers, such as HP.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Without just the supporting and restoring settings feature, the system is also doing automation for networking devices. Rather than manually configuring a switch, I can automatically set up protocols using only several commands via BackBox.

  ### 2. Our network management is finally significantly improved

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arnaud S. | Senior Network Administrator, Broadcast Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2024

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

To my mind, the most innovative element of BackBox is how it addresses the backup and further administration of network devices. This automation has greatly cut the amount of time consumed in such endeavours, which were previously laborious and full of mistakes. Getting it to fit in with our current network configuration was easy and linking up with our monitoring systems was not a problem at all. I also like the reports and their ability to give the clear picture of the working and configuration of the networks.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

Although BackBox is powerful, its graphical interface can be described as rather weak. It still feels rather clunky, and not very user friendly, which has prevented new members of staff from getting the hang of it easily. The disadvantage, however, is that the advanced options also mean that the software comes with a steep learning curve, which from time to time limits our capacity to unpack the software. This has sometimes made it difficult in managing our networks and hampered productivity in the organization.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BackBox has been able to eradicate the problem of having to manually backup and manage the configuration of network devices since it was a tedious task that may result to making of mistakes. In this sense, it has been able to enhanced our operation efficiency and at the same time also minimized the chances of errors that are often associated with human intervention. With the integration capabilities to our network and also the monitoring tools it has become easier to maintain our network in its best shape thus cutting costs and providing better reliability.

  ### 3. Super efficient solution for network device backups automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sebastien C. | Senior Network Administrator, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

My favorite feature of BackBox is it performed network device backup to an optimal level of automation. It has been able to promptly perform the scheduled backups of the various devices which has greatly minimized the amount of work done manually. It integrates well with the tools that we use to manage our network, which makes scheduling and monitoring a breeze. Also, the reporting of the details is precise, giving a comprehensive outlook of the backup accomplished, which makes it easy to track the safety of network configurations.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

There is one problem with BackBox that I have and that is a difficult setup of the system at first. Setting up and configuring all the devices properly was proved to be very time and labor consuming, especially in larger networks. This complexity can be a challenge especially if you are new to network device backups. However, getting through problems in the initial setup phase can sometimes be problematic sometimes this has held up our work.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BackBox eradicates the problem of time consuming and error prone backup of network devices since it automates the whole process. Previously, backups were done manually, but repetitiveness resulted in mistakes. Thanks to BackBox, today we can easily manage configurations of our network and are sure they are safe and up to date thanks to BackBox’s automation and detailed reports. This has boosted our efficiency and offered us a better way of having a backup.

  ### 4. Finally we found a way to enhance network security and reliability in our business

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Germain K. | Senior Network Administrator, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2024

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

For me, what I like most about BackBox is its reliability when it comes to the automated backups and system checks. It makes sure that all our network configurations are updated and, in the event that something goes wrong, we have a sound plan of action. I like the scheduling option as it allows me to synchronize the backups in the most convenient way with no disturbance to our regular tasks. Moreover, it has good compliance features which makes audits so much easier.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

As much as I like BackBox, it has some shortcomings in the reporting aspects. The basic reports offered by the software do not give us adequate details or enough flexibility for analysis and processing done by my team. Therefore, I frequently have to go to the extent of writing reports individually, which is quite tedious, particularly when there is a lot of work to be done. Moreover, updates of the software sometimes takes time before they are released to the market, sometimes our systems are open to threats longer than I would want.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With BackBox, the issue of handling our networks backup and compliance has been greatly solved because instead of doing it manually as we used to, BackBox automates this process. This has been very beneficial, especially eradicating chances of wrong input and output results and also saves much time that would otherwise have been spent on those tasks. Another feature which the software has brought is the reliability in compliance which makes auditing easier and not a stressful activity.

  ### 5. Powerful Tool for Network Engineers

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

Backbox is like the ultimate toolkit for network engineer. It's packed with tons of awesome tools for everything from finding vulnerabilities to fixing security breaches. It's lightweight, runs smoothly, and has a super helpful community behind it. You can even customize it to your heart's content!

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

It's not all sunshine and rainbows. Backbox has a bit of a learning curve, so beginners might feel overwhelmed. The documentation could be better, and sometimes it can be a bit buggy. Plus, managing the packages can be a bit of a headache.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backbox is like my secret weapon for keeping my network secure and running smoothly. It helps me recover quickly from any incidents that do occur. Plus, it makes managing my devices and configurations a breeze, saving me time and effort. Overall, Backbox gives me peace of mind knowing that my network is in good hands, allowing me to focus on other important tasks.

**Reviewed by:** Siddharth N. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

Backbox is a very good Network automation, security and management tool. It is being used for backing up the network devices in our organization. If has good features and easy to use. Implementation is also not that difficult, once it is installed your life becomes easier. For an instance if we are backing up any network devices like routers, it saves all the configuration file and we can have CLI access of the device via Backbox. It also generates the notification alert via mail if there is any issue while backing up and generates the list of all devices that has been backedup. Customer Support is also good, you get quick timely help. It has a feature that if you dont login into Back box for longer period of time then account gets locked or expired automactically. So overall its a good experience!!!

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

Since its a automation tool so there are minor bugs which can be neglected as they keep on upgrading and adding new features. So no major issue or conerns.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of backup, all device details can be found under one tree!! Centralized control and easy to use!!!

  ### 9. Efficient Network Device Configuration Backup with Backbox

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sanjeev k. | Senior Cybersecurity Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2023

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

Backbox proves highly efficient in generating configuration backups for your network devices, minimizing manual efforts and optimizing capacity.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

Its limitation lies in the fact that it doesn't supports certain security devices from specific vendors.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BackBox simplifies and automates configuration management for network devices, addressing challenges associated with manual processes, diverse vendor environments, efficiency, compliance, risk reduction, and capacity optimization.
We are mainly using Backbox for the backup of multiple client devices of different vendors' products.
It helped us restore one of the client's backups of the firewall where we got firewall filesystem corruption and we installed the firewall from scratch and restored the backup from Backbox.

  ### 10. The backup that keeps on backing up....

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven L. | Cloud Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2024

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

The product seems to just work, mostly I can just set it up and forget about it, very little maintenance beyond updates once or twice a year(Our choice many more updates are released, we chose to do twice a year). Anyways, probably te easiest software to setup and maintain, and as far as unsupported hardware, the support people over at backbox are second to none, something won't back up, call them, they will build a custom script for you. And if you want to be even more adventurous, they will even show you how to build your own scripts, which I have done, and it's even in their database now, your welcome! These guys are great and they will go the extra mile for you when needed, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

The only bad thing I can say about Backbox as an application is that I am constant getting the disconnected message. I don't know why, but it is always "reconnecting" seems constant, but as I said I would imagine if I contacted support about it, they would help me resolve that issue as well.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can backup and lay down the backups for any infrastructure harware we have. Mostly we use it to recover rules in our Palo Alto's because their interface is garbage and sometimes you erase one rule and it decides to erase 10, so nice to run a new backup and compare the last backup and easy to recover the data, usually within minutes.

  ### 11. BackBox significantly reduces our workload

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2024

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

BackBox has been a complete timesaver for our company. We have over 300 Juniper devices deployed throughout shops in both the US and Canada. With the click of a mouse I am able to run backups, pull inventory numbers, upgrade/patch devices and send out configuration changes. What used to take us weeks now only takes hours. Coupled with BackBox's excellent support staff, there hasn't been anything done though the command line that can't be done by the BackBox software. The product is easy to deploy and easy to use. It's highly customizable with templates can be copied and edited to save time. BackBox has been a huge lifesaver for our company.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

I don't really have anything to say about BackBox being least helpful. Maybe if it was free, but that wouldn't be a very good business model for them.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Significantly cuts the time to deploy, configure and maintain our network of Juniper products.

  ### 12. Improve network reliability with configuration management and BackBox automation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2024

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

Since we have just integrated BackBox into our operations, I can say that the ease of use is very obvious. The clone and edit functions are very strong, thus, the device settings can be easily manipulated across the network of Cisco switches. We have developed the custom scripts that have changed our remediation procedures which were very complicated before. The intellicheck feature is also a plus, it gives you real-time validations that are almost limitless in their scope.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

On the other hand, the default list of devices in BackBox may seem a bit overwhelming to the beginners at first. Besides, the advanced features were more difficult to understand than I thought; the one-on-one support would be of great help to me to use the full potential of custom scripting.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the area of problem-solving, BackBox has been of great help. It deals with the big problem of the management and automation of the many device configurations, which has greatly reduced the human errors and downtime.

It is a very useful tool to quickly have restorable backups of your entire electronic network, apart from offering you additional functionalities to automate certain operations. Its ease of use is very high, its implementation is simple, and it integrates with countless manufacturers. Truly a great help for IT administrators.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

The truth is that I haven't found any notable negative points.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When you have a multi-vendor network infrastructure and need a central tool to manage backups, restorations, and task automation, BackBox becomes your best friend.

  ### 32. Basic setup and backups are easy to use and when its not the support is amazing.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

Built in device feaures for ease of use and setup. The ability to clone an existing product to edit allows you to create custom "scripts" that are specific to your needs. It allows Backbox to be limitless with its scripts and what they can do. For example; my company uses a lot of Cisco Small Business switches. They are not a default device in Backbox but the subtle differences allow me to clone a Cisco enterprise switch and edi the commands so that they pertain to the small business line. You can also create remediation process based on "intellichecks" that discover different things within your network.

Upgrades are easy
Adding new devices are easy

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

Some devices are not in the list of default devices. It takes a little bit of knowledge to make it work. The great news is where that can be a bit daunting for myself, the support is great at working with you one-one-one to create a custom script to make it work how you need.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We focus mostly on getting backups of our switches but we also use it to perform upgrades across all of our switches with a little automation. We really like the script hat was created to check all of our switches to see what firmware version its running and run a report that spits out what versions all device are running so we can identify the switches that need upgraded then run jobs to do the upgrade across the environment.

  ### 33. One for All Backup and Inventory Management with Automation & Network Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

Backbox is a powerful yet a very simple tool. The name implies backup, but the solution has matured to be much more than backups.
It is very easy to implement. I can add my devices quickly, register default backup & credential mechanisms to start backup process. After you schedule backups and it works like a charm, you can view previous backups and compare them easily.
As Backbox evolved from bakups, I use the solution daily for inventory management. My network firewall, proxy and many other network solution devices are backed up from the solution and their versions/harware and many other information are stored & reported.
It is really easy to integrate any type of vendor you have since it natively supports most of the vendors and the only requirement from the administrators end is to add your devices & schedule backups & tasks.
Support is extradionary compared to most other vendors. They try to solve your problems as soon as possible and they also provide support on extending your backup & taks configurations, meaning they help you develop your environment.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

I believe the solution can be much more than what it is at the moment. It can be a "Super-App" where the solution would simply be an answer for any task you require other than the features it already has.
If it would simply add monitoring capability, most of the solutions on the market would go extinct since Backbox currently answers many IT requirements we engineers face everyday. So I can say introduction of new features would be a dislike from my side.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The first problem it solves, as the vendors name implies is backup management for any type of your devices. Most of the security devices have different capabilities on their backups but Backbox simplifies and automates everything with two or three clicks.
Second is the inventory management. In a broad environment, as an example, it is hard to keep track of the hotfix build of your firewalls. Backbox reports all the inventory of the devices and creates alert/reports regarding this.
Third is the intellicheck part of the solution which can be used for configuration management and automation. You want to persistenly check if a configuration is existent on the device ? Well intellicheck is the answer. With its automated response capabilities, you can also correct any misconfiguration on your end or automate hideous tasks. One example of this is debug / core dump files of your security solutions. From our end, backbox checks all of our security devices in hourly manner, checks if there is a problem with it, collects necessary logs and moves the corresponding files for security vendor cases in an automated manner. This tasks I mentioned would take an administrator 15 minutes manually, considering the problem has been noticed. Backbox does this automatically for us, and keeps us from worrying and saves us time.

  ### 34. Backbox solution to our backup routines

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

Installing Backbox was vesy straightforward and easy. We have a multi-platform environmant with many vendors and applicaitons that require backup. We had several different methods to backup using a variety of Powershell scripts and routines.

Backbox was able to integrate with all of our vendors and provide reliable and auditable backups replacing all of our bespoke backup routines.

Backbox has many more features than just backup routines, it has a powerful scripting engine that be configured to collect logs or ata from servers, in our use case we have an example to provide automatic alerting for server SSL certificates that are approaching their expiry date.

We are still exploring some of the features of Backbox and getting support from the vendor has been a pleasure in our experince, eager to help and improve the product with prompt and detailed support.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

We have not found any problems to date..

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had many bespoke and complex backup routines and more and more manual tasks to monitor various parts of the configuration in order to maintain services. Backbox was helpful in automating all of these into one single repository.

  ### 35. Very powerful, customizable tool to help manage multiple devices.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

I love how powerful the tool is. It has helped us standardize switch configurations, standardize backups and changes, keep up with proactive maintenance, and simplified our firmware updates. We are barely scratching the surface as it has the ability to auto repair issues that we haven't even started using. It has saved us countless hours of troubleshooting and manual reviews while putting everything in a single pane of a web browser. Their customer service has been extremely helpful, and fast to assist in getting things functioning.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

Out of the box I had to work with support a few times to get things customized for our environment. Some of their "out of the box" items did not work as intended. That may have been just unique to our environment, but it really was the only dislike I had with getting everything working.

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are utilizing BackBox to simplify the management and configurations of numerous switch stacks. Using BackBox, we can backup and put the configuration data under a check to verify that everything is configured as it should. If its not, we can have it report the discrepency, or automate the fix. We also proactively monitor interfaces for errors and carrier transitions so we can find bad cables or devices before the users start complaining something is wrong.

  ### 36. Backbox provides solutions that every network admin should use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about BackBox?**

One of the most important needs for a network engineer is to have consistent and reliable backups of their network devices. Having an automated solution that is literally "set it and forget it" gives the admin one less thing to worry about for a good nights sleep. It was very easy to implement, and has support for all major manufacturers. Their sales account team and customer support are amazing. They are very attentive to their customers, are always checking in to see if you are experiencing any issues, have any concerns, and to make sure you are keeping up on your updates. There are a plethora of features that should fit any small or large business. Remote administration, on the fly backup, backup comparison, configuration and vulnerability assessments via Intellichecks, schedule firmware upgrades automatically, direct terminal access to your managed devices, the list goes on and on.

**What do you dislike about BackBox?**

I do not have any dislikes about BackBox. It's not free?

**What problems is BackBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BackBox provides me with automated online backups, and should the need arise, provides me the ability to conduct a point in time configuration restore.
