**What do you like best about Azure IoT Hub?**

IOT being very popular right now and Azure with it's IOT Hub service let's us use our application with integration with IOT devices all over the world. The best part about it is the single stop solution for all of our IOT needs and the least amount of administration to manage it along with our application.

  ### 34. IoT Hub is an Absolutely Integral Part of Our Cloud Architecture

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon F. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Azure IoT Hub?**

IoT Hub gives our development teams power, flexibility, and versatility for our industrial remote monitoring web applications. This particular Cloud Resource in the Azure family of services is a central piece of the foundation of our application architecture. IoT Hub gives us abilities that our team has dreamed about for many years before Microsoft released this particular cloud resource. Data harmonization is key to the success of any data-intensive web application. The needs become even more pronounced when consuming huge volumes of time-series sensor data values from 100s of industrial assets. IoT Hub allows us to handle this type of data from diverse sources, machines, edge devices, and customers.

**What do you dislike about Azure IoT Hub?**

IoT Hub is an Azure Cloud Resource that needs to be integrated with your existing web application architecture. It's powerful but requires some careful planning to realize some of the benefits described above. There's honestly not anything significant on the "dislike" list. Just overcoming a learning curve. Documentation is a little bit light but...that's in the context of Microsoft. E.g. anything from Microsoft, while MS's documentation may itself be light, the community of enterprise professionals consuming and flexing the muscles of these tools is strong. Anything you can't find in MS documentation is probably described in a blog post or StockOverflow article or Reddit thread!

**Recommendations to others considering Azure IoT Hub:**

Definitely make sure that you implement Azure IoT Hub thoughtfully in your solution architecture. There's a learning curve to getting IoT Hub to do what you want. And that's a subjective opinion based on application context and skill level but I find it to be generally true.

**What problems is Azure IoT Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we're solving with Azure IoT Hub is being able to create easy multitenancy in our web app architecture. We can consume data from many diverse data sources and send it wherever we want as long as there's a configured endpoint to consume it. We're also using IoT Hub as a bridge to send data from one part of a customer's environment to business intelligence endpoints in a customer's network. It provides a perfect bridge between two hard-to-connect data sources.
