## Assembla Reviews
 ### 1. Security and Compliance That Still Keeps Developers Productive

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul M. | PMM, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

Security and Compliance Without Sacrificing Developer Productivity

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

The platform is feature-rich, which is a strength, but it can feel overwhelming for first-time users. Some administrative settings and configuration options take time to learn. However, the flexibility and control you gain are well worth the initial learning curve.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assembla helps us centralize source code management, project tracking, and team collaboration in a single platform. Before using it, our repositories, tickets, and project documentation were spread across multiple tools, making it harder to maintain visibility and keep everyone aligned.

By bringing these workflows together, we've reduced context switching, improved traceability between code changes and project tasks, and made onboarding new team members much easier. The platform has also helped us maintain better control over access permissions and development processes while providing a reliable environment for managing repositories and collaborating across teams.

Overall, Assembla has streamlined our development workflow, improved team productivity, and reduced the overhead of managing multiple disconnected tools.

 ### 2. Horrible Customer Service for Billing - Beware

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim C. | president, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

The service itself was fine. No issues with that.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

I had a game app which we decided to shut down. I signed up for an annual payment plan last year. I tried to go on the website in mid-January on a weekend to take my card off of automatic renewal, knowing that it was set to renew in March. When I tried to get on there 2FA haqd been set up, and I could not access the site, and figured they would send me a renewal notice, like every other company normally does. However, I just got billed $140.40. We no longer are using the service and I asked if I could get a refund, and offered to let them keep the normal one month fee. But they said that they would not do a refund because I did not cancel the service 30 DAYS in advance. Completely unfair and most people would not think to cancel 30 days ahead of time. DEFINITELY BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

none

 ### 3. Effortless Setup, Exceptional Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Silas T. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

I find the easy setup and migration from different platforms a standout feature of Assembla. The support team is really helpful, especially when we have configuration problems or need something specialized. Without Assembla, we'd be spending a lot more time and resources on having an internal development operations team. I also value the painless support and how easy it was to set everything up. We discussed our needs with an Assembla account manager, and their enterprise team handled the entire migration, which was smooth, with only a very small switchover period.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

The flexibility around billing is something that could be improved. It's easy to feel locked into a contract for a year. It would be nice if we could scale down how many seats we are paying for if our team does not need all of the licenses every month.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Assembla provides easy setup and migration from different platforms. It offers painless support for configuration problems or specialized needs, saving us time and resources by eliminating the need for an internal development operations team.

 ### 4. Assembla: Clean, Powerful Project Management with Seamless Integrations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

Assembla provides a flexible and powerful project management experience without feeling overwhelming. The user interface is clean, modern and practical (including a popular dark theme option), making it easy to navigate repositories, tickets, milestones, and collaboration features without a steep learning curve.
The integrations are also a major strength. Assembla fits well into existing development workflows and helps teams keep project management, source code, and communication connected in one place.
Performance has been very reliable in day-to-day use, with tools that feel responsive and capable even when managing more complex projects.
For us, Assembla offers strong value because it combines version control, task tracking, collaboration, and project visibility in a single platform. This reduces tool sprawl and helps teams stay organized.

Support and onboarding are straightforward as well, making it easier for new users and teams to get up to speed quickly.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

Assembla is intuitive, especially for users who are already familiar with project management tools, but the initial setup process could feel a bit more guided. An interactive product tour or setup recommendations based on team size and use case would make it easier for new teams to get started quickly.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assembla helps us manage work across both engineering and cross-functional teams in one organized place. We use it for sprint planning with engineering, but also for marketing projects, web team deliverables, release items, design-related tickets for product UI/UX and web development, and product management tracking for PRDs.

The biggest benefit is visibility and consistency. Instead of having different teams track work in separate systems or informal channels, Assembla gives us a shared place to define tasks, assign ownership, track progress, and connect related work. It helps keep engineering, product, marketing, design, and web teams aligned, especially when multiple deliverables are tied to the same release or project.

It also makes it easier to manage priorities and follow-through. Everyone on the team can easily see what is in progress, what is blocked, what needs review, and what is ready to move forward. That helps reduce missed handoffs, keeps projects moving, and gives everyone a clearer view of how work is progressing across teams.

 ### 5. Simple, complete Platform with Robust SVN Service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mario C. | Head of 3D Development & Design Area, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

It's a simple and well thought platform that integrate the main tools needed for collaborative and solo development.
It also is one of the few that offer a complete and robust SVN service.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

It could offer more pre made integrations with other standard tools, like Teams, ecc..
And it could use a smarter and clearer UX/UI, but the current one is perfectly usable.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It offers a complete, integrated, and robust SVN Source Control service.
It enable us to works on large and complex projects with large binary files.
In more than 8 years of use we didn't have any availablity problems, and we had various positive interactions with the customer support.

 ### 6. Finally dropped Jira. Assembla keeps designers and developers on the same page

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

What stands out is having everything in one place. Design assets, tickets, sprints, and repositories all live together. The cardwall view makes it easy to track progress without needing to understand the underlying code, which as a designer is exactly what I need.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

The onboarding experience could be stronger. New team members take a while to find their footing. More guided materials and in-platform tutorials would help teams get up to speed faster.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been using Assembla as a designer working alongside developers and IT, and it genuinely changed how our team collaborates. The sprint planning and ticketing system inside their Project Management tool, lets me organize design deliverables directly alongside the engineering effort. No more jumping between tools or chasing developers on Slack to understand where a ticket stands.

 ### 7. All-in-One Git, SVN, and Perforce Hosting for Hybrid Teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge T. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

I love that it hosts Git, SVN, and Perforce all in one platform. It’s incredibly convenient for teams managing hybrid or legacy codebases.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

Setting up the project management tools and configuring permissions can be confusing for new users.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the risk of code leaks and compliance gaps for sensitive projects.

 ### 9. It "Just works" for development teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yorick P. | Chief Technical Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Assembla?**

Having tried multiple ticketing and source control systems over decades of work, I find that "Assembla" functionality just works, and integrates well. Not something you can say about Github. The integration between repo's, tickets, wiki and everything else is hard to find elsewhere.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

Some of the newer UI changes break functionality, but the support team are fast to respond and they get fixed in a reasonable amount of time.

**Recommendations to others considering Assembla:**

Compare its flexibility against others.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Source control. project management, ticketing, wiki, api, it really keeps everything working together wel.

**What do you dislike about Assembla?**

Search is not efficient enough. Makes it impossible to find tickets by keywords.

**What problems is Assembla solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just helping us to develop in sprint manner.
