What do you like best about Aptean Process Manufacturing OEE?
What I like most about Aptean Process Manufacturing OEE is its flexibility it provides in configuring and managing our manufacturing processes. The UI is generally straightforward to work with, particularly from an administration perspective, and the platform gives us good scope to adapt production reporting, quality checks, downtime and OEE requirements to suit different areas of our operation.
Integration with our other software platforms, including PLM and ERP, has generally been smooth, particularly around file processing. Our migration to the cloud has introduced some limitations around accessibility and our ability to make or troubleshoot integration changes in real time, but this is more a consideration of our current architecture than the underlying integration capability of the platform.
Performance is generally good, particularly when opening or submitting triggered quality checks, where response times are almost instantaneous. One area that could be improved is the Log a QA Check function, which can take approximately 5–6 seconds to load. While not a significant issue individually, the delay becomes noticeable when the function is used regularly.
From my perspective, pricing and ROI are more difficult to assess as I do not have visibility of comparable software and support contracts across the business. From an operational perspective, however, the value of the support relationship has been demonstrated. During a period when we were no longer an active customer, Aptean continued to keep our environment connected and operational, which was greatly appreciated and provided considerable value to our business.
When we had access to formal support, my experience with the support team was exemplary. I was not personally involved enough in the original onboarding process to provide a meaningful assessment of that area.
We have not yet made use of the platform's AI or GenAI capabilities. These were discussed with us, but due to our customer status and available budget at the time, we did not proceed far enough with them for me to give a fair assessment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Aptean Process Manufacturing OEE?
There are relatively few aspects of the platform that I would describe as dislikes, but there are areas where I believe the user and administrator experience could be improved.
From a UI/UX and performance perspective, some functions could be more responsive. A good example is Log a QA Check, which consistently takes approximately 5–6 seconds to load, compared with opening and submitting triggered quality checks, which is generally almost instantaneous. Individually this is a minor delay, but it becomes noticeable with regular use. From my perspective, when I am adding a WO and need to select a product, because of the amount of products we have, the performance takes a significant hit.
Integration with our PLM and ERP platforms has generally been reliable, particularly with file processing. However, since moving to a cloud-hosted environment, our direct accessibility has become more restricted. This has reduced our ability to investigate, adjust and troubleshoot some integrations in real time compared with the level of access we previously had.
Performance can deteriorate significantly when working with large datasets. One example is manually adding a production run and selecting a product. We have a very large number of products configured, and loading the product selection can take approximately 15 seconds, with additional delays when opening the filter and selecting the required product. In testing, the complete interaction took approximately 25–30 seconds, during which the browser can become effectively unresponsive.
There are also smaller performance delays elsewhere. For example, Log a QA Check consistently takes approximately 5–6 seconds to load, whereas opening and submitting a triggered quality check is generally almost instantaneous.
These delays do not prevent the functions from being used, but improving performance when handling larger datasets would significantly improve the administrator experience.
I don't have sufficient visibility of comparable enterprise software and support agreements within our business to make an informed criticism of pricing or ROI.
My experience with Aptean support when we had access to formal support services was positive, so I have no significant criticism in that area. I was also not sufficiently involved in the original onboarding process to provide a fair assessment of onboarding.
