I like best about Apple seed is the ability to look up information quick and simple for law n for ment.

Maybe the cost is a dislike other than that it's good.

Software from Appleseed holds information and makes it ten times easier to look up quick answers

**What do you like best about appleseed?**

The best feature of appleseed would be the fact that it is OpenSource software. Despite that it has a feature set nearly equal to the mainstream commercial solutions even though it is still in the beta stages. Another non-traditional feature that is often not found with most development companies regardless of business model (commercial, OpenSource, etc.) is access to the developers. During the years I have been aware of appleseed the developers have always been accessible either through the forums or directly.

**What do you dislike about appleseed?**

There really isn't a feature to dislike but since it is in beta there are aspects of the project that are not fully developed. My main experience is with the 3D Studio Max plug-in where the speed of rendering a scene is slower than the commercial programs available in certain types of scenes but still provides a reasonable result in most cases. Appleseed.studio is the standalone software and if there was anything to dislike it would be that the UI is not overly artist friendly. It is functional and usable but is not currently designed be the go-to product while eventually the commercial software plug-ins will be the preferred access method.

**Recommendations to others considering appleseed:**

Get familiar with a plug-in for Max, Maya, or Blender. When the software becomes an official release it will be a very powerful contender to the mainstream commercial products while being equal in features and power.

**What problems is appleseed solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've not used this in a commercial setting. It is still in beta which means it is changing and growing. However, it still is capable of being dropped into a work pipeline with positive results. In that regard it is already the built-in rendering solution for another OpenSource software called Gaffer, a VFX solution used in many film and T.V. series including Game of Thrones.
