"15 Years of Professional Interior Visualization Experience With 3ds Max"
4.5/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

I have been using 3ds Max for more than 15 years for interior and exterior visualization projects, and one thing I still like most is the flexibility it gives during modeling and scene setup. I mainly work on custom interiors, furniture details, lighting, and client presentation renders, so having full control over every small element is very important for my workflow.

Another reason I prefer it is the compatibility with render engines like Corona. The material setup, camera handling, and lighting process feel very natural once you get used to it. It also helps a lot during client revisions because changes can be done quickly without rebuilding the whole scene.

I also like that even after many years, I still find useful plugins and tools that improve productivity. For professional visualization work, especially in interior design, it has remained one of the most dependable software options for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

One thing I dislike is the pricing. For large studios or established organizations, the subscription cost may not be a big issue, but for individual artists, freelancers, or small startup firms, it can feel expensive. In the beginning of my career, managing software costs along with hardware upgrades was not always easy.

Another thing is that very heavy scenes can sometimes slow down the viewport, especially in detailed interior projects with high-poly furniture and textures. New users may also need time to properly understand the workflow because the software has many tools and settings compared to simpler 3D applications.

Still, after using it for many years, I feel the overall capabilities and flexibility are the reason many professionals continue working with it despite these limitations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful But Demanding — My Experience with 3ds Max Design"
4/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

The modeling tools are incredibly powerful — you can build complex structures with great precision. The rendering quality is stunning, especially for architectural visualization, and clients always love the photorealistic output.

Plugin support is massive too, with V-Ray and Corona Renderer integrating seamlessly to take things even further.

Honestly, it's an industry standard for a reason. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

The learning curve is brutal. It takes months before you feel truly comfortable, and the interface can feel overwhelming for newcomers.

It's also very expensive. The subscription cost is hard to justify for freelancers or small studios.

And performance is a pain — heavy scenes with detailed models can slow your system to a crawl, even on decent hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Modeling and High-Quality Renders with Seamless Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

What I like best about 3ds Max Design is its strong modeling capabilities and the quality of the renders it can produce. It also integrates well with other design and architectural software, making the workflow more efficient and flexible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

One downside of 3ds Max Design is the pricing, which can be expensive, especially for independent users. It can also have occasional bugs or stability issues that may interrupt the workflow during complex projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Architectural Visualization with Advanced Modeling and Realistic Rendering"
5/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

This software is well suited for architectural visualization and 3D modeling, especially if you need advanced modeling features and realistic rendering. It offers a strong selection of plugins and tools, along with a wide range of animation options that can support different workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

This application may need a well-configured machine to deliver the results you’re expecting. If your system isn’t quite up to the mark, you may notice that performance feels a bit slower than anticipated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Ultimate 3D Modeling Powerhouse"
4.5/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

I love the variety of 3D Modeling tools and realistic lighting and rending. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

I dislike the fact that some features don't work, for example, the coloring/painting tool in 3DS Max just crashes the computer and then the program shuts down. I have plenty of RAM and processing on my PC, it seems it is just a 3DS Max problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"3ds Max Design: High-End Visualization Built for Designers"
4/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

What I like best about 3ds Max Design (and what made it stand out when it was a separate product) is how well it balanced high‑end visualization power with a workflow tailored to designers rather than pure entertainment artists.

3ds Max Design was optimized for architects, product designers, and visualization professionals, not just game or film artists. The toolset emphasized:

Accurate units and real‑world scale

CAD/BIM interoperability (AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor)

Clean scene organization for large, complex projects Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

Performance Issues with Large Scenes

One of the biggest frustrations was viewport performance, especially when working with:

Large architectural models

High‑poly furniture or entourage

Dense CAD imports

Even on strong hardware, scenes could become sluggish, and simple actions like orbiting or selecting objects could lag. This often forced users to rely heavily on:

Proxies

Layer hiding/freezing

Aggressive scene optimization

Compared to newer real‑time engines or more modern DCC tools, it often felt less responsive than it should have been. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful 3D Modeling and Rendering, But Steep Learning Curve and High Cost"
5/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

Autodesk 3ds Max has great tools for making detailed 3D models and realistic images. It's perfect for building complex 3D scenes and visualizations. The modifier stack is very strong and flexible, which lets you work without losing anything you've done. It works well with plugins like V-Ray and Corona Renderer, which helps make the visual results even better for professional use. The user interface is easy to use for people who know their way around, and the animation tools are powerful, making it great for both building designs and movie-like animations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

Autodesk 3ds Max is very powerful, but it can be hard for new users to handle because it takes a lot to learn and has a complicated interface. The software uses a lot of computer resources, so you need a good PC to run it smoothly, especially when working with detailed models. Some parts of the software feel old compared to newer 3D programs, and it can take a long time to finish rendering without extra tools or faster hardware. Also, the cost of using it on a subscription basis is quite high, which can be a problem for independent workers or small studios. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Exceptional 3D Modeling and Visualization for Design Professionals"
4.5/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

3ds‍‌‍‍‌ Max Design is packed with very effective 3D modeling and visualization tools that can be used to splendidly render architectural, interior design, and other scenes. My favorite feature is its accuracy and adaptability — mixing CAD files, applying photorealistic materials and lighting, and making high-quality, visually real renders is all totally doable by me. The user interface is quite thorough but still makes sense, and the cross-product usage with other Autodesk tools like AutoCAD and Revit is really great for saving time. Besides that, it’s a great tool for animated sequences and project presentations as ‍‌‍‍‌well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

The‍‌‍‍‌ major disadvantage is that it needs a very strong PC - efficiency may be lowered when there are complicated scenes. Also, the sheer number of tools and options can make it quite difficult for beginners, so one has to go through a learning curve. Moreover, it costs a lot to get a license and a subscription and sometimes there are some bugs happening during export or rendering. Nevertheless, with the mastery of the craft and a good system arrangement, such problems can be subdued and do not lower the final ‍‌‍‍‌quality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

5/5
What do you like best about 3ds Max?

I really appreciate how simple the modifiers are for modeling an object, and I also love that I can unwrap meshes with just a single click. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3ds Max?

Its rendering engine is quite basic, and you need a plugin to create a more professional-looking render. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
