## VolunteerMatters Reviews
  ### 1. Decent Cost Effect Option

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikki K. | Clinical Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2021

**What do you like best about VolunteerMatters?**

Tracks a great deal of information and very customizable.

**What do you dislike about VolunteerMatters?**

Not very user-friendly and can be difficult to navigate, and reporting functions are minimal.

**Recommendations to others considering VolunteerMatters:**

Definitely a good option when the cost is important. The product works for small organizations with volunteers. It does take dedicated time to really understand and build it to your own needs.

**What problems is VolunteerMatters solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking volunteer information (primarily contact info)

  ### 2. Good Way To Organize Your Volunteers

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about VolunteerMatters?**

This program lets you choose what fields you want to include, uploads documents (like signed waivers) and lets you put a photo of the volunteer on their record. This is very helpful in remembering/recognizing volunteers. It also has a note section that you can use to put additional information about a volunteer.

**What do you dislike about VolunteerMatters?**

The report tool is difficult to manipulate. You can't simply pick and choose what types of information you want. The birthday part doesn't seem to work correctly. Also the way it records status changes is a little awkward. You have to put in the date of the change and then you'd have to look at the bottom of the record to see when other changes were made to figure out when people came, left, and/or took a break from volunteering.

**Recommendations to others considering VolunteerMatters:**

Look at everything out there before you decide to use this. It will be of more value to you if you use it to track volunteer assignments and hours. It also allows people to sign up for volunteer slots online (once they are onboarded). If you feel like you will need a lot of tech support, you may want to get an upgraded account or use a different company.

**What problems is VolunteerMatters solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This keeps all of my volunteers in one database. This is a great benefit because different programs we offer have different volunteers and this keeps them all in one place. I do not add anyone to VolunteerMatters unless they have completed orientation and training, but you can also use it to track where people are in the process of onboarding.

**Official Response from Mark Hopwood:**

> Thank you for your review. It appears you are subscribed to our legacy product which was replaced by an entirely new platform in 2016! We have been maintaining the older version for the convenience of our customers. You should absolutely consider an upgrade. The improvements are vast. I would encourage you to schedule a demo here: https://volunteermatters.com/schedule-a-demo/

  ### 3. Easy Program for volunteers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2018

**What do you like best about VolunteerMatters?**

The best part of this program is that it is simple to use for both administrator and volunteers. Volunteers are able to log in their hours, review available schedules. For administration, we are able to onboard a volunteer online, get the background check and schedule them. For a non-profit the other plus is that we can ask the volunteer if they would consider paying for their background check to support the local organization. This program has help our organization with tracking and recruitment.

**What do you dislike about VolunteerMatters?**

The ability to download files. We can only do screen shot and if we do download its not a workable document. We have requested this to be on there list to be upgraded. We will see if it happens as this is an area that may require us to move away from the program.

**Recommendations to others considering VolunteerMatters:**

The program is very simple. Anyone even without computer experience can use this. The tracking system is simple and you have several reports that you can use. It is cost effective for non-profit organization. Worth the investment.

**What problems is VolunteerMatters solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a non-profit we require tracking of our volunteer hours. this has help us do that more accurately and minimize the time that staff would have to do to calculate the hours. On-boarding has made it easier as well having it more online and eliminate paper forms.

  ### 4. One way to manage volunteer involvement

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about VolunteerMatters?**

This software keeps track of your volunteers, their assignments, hours and other vital information. You can run reports and send emails from it as well.

**What do you dislike about VolunteerMatters?**

I do not like that when someone exits (is no longer a volunteer) they stay in the database listing. There is no way to archive them. A;lso the reports that you can run are somewhat limited. I think if you buy a more expensive subscription you can probably get more.

**Recommendations to others considering VolunteerMatters:**

take a good look at other tools out there. There are some platforms offered by volunteer search websites that may work for what you are trying to accomplish

**What problems is VolunteerMatters solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Volunteer management is a revolving door. This program has helped to keep tabs on which volunteers are active and what roles they are playing.
