It's easy to pull different lists if you know what information you are looking for, and it's simple to make slight changes and then save queries to your personal or group workspaces. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** Sometimes the vast amount of information can be overwhelming and pulling more complex queries gets complicated. I also wish you could simply search for users instead of having to pull a find people query. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Veracross to track constituent and student information, pull reports, and create event registration forms. The support process is simple, typically with a very quick response time. And, I feel like not only do I get a resolution to my issue, but I learn something new that helps my everyday Veracross work each time I work with a support consultant. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** The hardest or most frustrating part of Veracross is that it's such a vast platform, and it's taking so much time to become experts in our implementation. I have shared with Veracross that their implementation and data migration process is quite good. However, it's the next steps that are lacking. As in, "you're all set and implemented, now go ahead and start using Veracross". I had to hire an outside consultant who specialized in Veracross to help get my school truly up and running during our first year of being live on Veracross. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has allowed me to bring our entire campus (SIS, admission, business office, development, etc) onto one system. ### 5. It allows us to look at our data differently and combine data from different areas of the system (academics, admissions, development) with greater ease. System response is quick and running queries takes no time. The Implementation team and the Support team is responsive and knowledgeable and work to resolve issues and answer questions thoroughly. Extensive online knowledge base is also a plus. The portals and communication tools have been a game changer for us. The way in which information can be delivered to our Faculty in the portal has been transformative for many of our processes. Faculty are able to access much more information themselves without asking admin assistants to pull lists and reports for them. Parents have responded positively to the new portal also, and the flexibility to manage their own payments in student billing is a plus. Requiring all parents to set up VCPay has reduced the manual workload of our business office significantly. The parents' ability to use their VCPay wallet for payments across the system (event registration, summer programs, etc) has streamlined processing for them. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** Veracross implementation is very much self-paced, self-service, and self-directed. Internal teams must be committed and carve out dedicated time to work on the implementation and learn the system. Veracross provides the structure, but it is really up to the school to do the heavy lifting. If you do not have strong project lead or leads at the school, it would be easy to fall behind. The data implementation work is the responsibility of the school using the VC import tool, if you do not have a resource who can pull the data accurately, I would suggest engaging a 3rd party for assistance. Veracross has robust online training tools (videos, articles, and live training sessions) but you will spend time trying to ask the question in veracross terms so you can get the answer you need. These include the registrar, to busienss, and development. Each module works very well with each other. Looking at the business modules the payment plan system is wonderful! I have worked in other systems in past jobs, but Veracrosses payment plan system above everyone elses. Also, they have a great customer support team that is very active at replying to cases and will even setup zooms if you need additional help. If they are missing a feature in their system there is a enhancement log you can make suggestions for future updates. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** If you like to embed your donor forms on your webpage this is not a feature offered at this time. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** Their payment plan system is very helpful to process your families payments. ### 9. That was very challenging. Support was provided, but the resolution came in "how to" -- not in doing it for us. In the end, that was good because we truly learned the system. The customer support is amazing, and I definitely recommend purchasing the option for unlimited support zoom calls for the first 6 months after implementation. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** The downside to Veracross is the lengthy learning curve. Our school was unprepared when we implemented it, and as such, we did not have enough time for our admin and tech people to become acquainted with the processes so that our teachers could be adequately trained. Ultimately, our users suffered because of this. Now, we have a better idea of what we're doing and we can assist them. But the first 3-4 months were quite rocky. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** Veracross is helping us solve the issues of integrating our administrative processes as a school. We especially enjoy being able to have admissions and enrollment in one place as it makes bringing transfer students much easier than before. It is also helping us centralize our core academic data in a way our previous system wasn't able to. ### 14. That is both good and bad. Core functionality works very well. Processes are well defined. Very happy with Communications! Also, as a primary user of Admissions and Online Enrollment, overall very good and easy functionality. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** Lack of flexibility, partocularly with CRM and other, outside of the normal school activities. We have sought other functionality for pre-admission activity (CRM) and registrations for enrichment activities offered at the school. Veracross University has limitations. The knowledge base needs to continue to grow and the team that provides support needs to know some of the idiosynchracies of year-to-year changes that need to be made to make it all work the best. Finally, it would be awesome to have some streamlined access to data. We have data packets today, but since we don't have an FTP server, delivery is really self-serve, exports, with an email reminder to go get them.... There needs to be something in the middle. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** Management of the admissions, enrollment, calendaring, communications and academics at the school. These are all integrated. Data savvy team members can do wonderful things with the ability to report, and use out of the box reports. ### 15. It has completely changed how we are able to configure, track, and make last-minute changes to autopayments. From the billing and tuition side of things, the process is much easier to use than our previous software. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** The downside for me is the Development module within Veracross. I am in the Business Office and work directly with our development team recording gifts etc. The platform does work well for them so they are also using another software which makes the recording of gifts and transactions very time consuming. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** I work with the Accounting module within Axiom. ### 23. I also appreciate their workspaces, as a support technician it allows me to more easily see what people are attempting to do/working on and assist them remotely. Robust user permissions and logging allow people to work on what they need with the tools they need, without any danger of messing things up for others. There's also a very clear trail of who's done what when audit time comes around. We have several different departments that utilize Veracross for different purposes, so the utility and versatility the service provides make my job easier as I'm only supporting one product. The system is very no nonsense, there's no useless flairs (graphics, animations, funny quips), and function is prioritized over form; this is a workhorse product and it really feels that way. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** The system is rather unintuitive at first. Without a proper walkthrough or training it's very unlikely that a new user would be able to figure out how to perform a task. Even then, the processes are usually quite rigid so if a hiccup does come up it's hard to solve it on your own. E.g. I've had instances of not being able to find a field editing a record, had to check with our database manager and turns out it was located somehwere I wouldn't have ever thought to look. **Recommendations to others considering Veracross:** Do a lot of research to make sure it fits your needs perfectly, if that's the case then you'll get amazing mileage from the product. If it's not a perfect fit though it'll probably just be frustrating. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** Excellent data retrieval has been the main thing I've personally benefitted from. It has a calendar functions that keeps track of meetings, although I also use Outlook for that. I also like that it connects with Canvas, which my school also uses. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** Veracross and Axiom are basically the same thing, but I have to use both because certain features of Axiom are not available in Veracross, such as recording a behavioral incident for disciplinary purposes. **Recommendations to others considering Veracross:** It's useful in conjunction with Canvas for school admin purposes. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** Veracross helps keep track of attendance for our school, including specifics such as whether an absence is excused or unexcused, tardiness, and school commitments such as sports events. ### 30. The interface is easy to use while also detailed. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** As an administrator, using Veracross takes some acclimating—there are so many folders and one has to learn shortcuts to get to the right spot. Perhaps more tutorials would be nice. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** Veracross is great for organizing assignments and seeing class rosters. Additionally Veracross organizes information about alumni that make reaching out much easier. ### 32. Veracross review **Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2018 **What do you like best about Veracross?** Veracross provides a 360-degree view of our students in one place including class schedules, extra curricular activities, parent contact information and family relationships. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** The interface is not intuitive and the query function takes a great deal of time and dedicated effort to fully understand and utilize to its full capacity. **Recommendations to others considering Veracross:** Having a dedicated "expert" user on staff to help manage the query function and address issues **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to manage all back-office student data in one place as well as run queries and exports, create mailings lists and produce a parent directory. Having all of our student data contained in a single database has streamlined our processes, minimized duplication of efforts, and given us the piece of mind that comes from knowing that we are all looking at the same data sets. ### 33. We can pull and access class schedules, teaching schedules, student and family information, reports and so much more! We can access student photos which is very helpful when one needs to locate a student in the middle of the day. We can also print photos of every member of a section so a teacher can learn all student names and faces quickly. We are a private school so we take great pride in knowing our students. Being able to greet them by name quickly is a great way to start relationship building. The Veracross tool helps us do our daily job better and that makes everyone happy--students, parents, teachers, staff and administrators! Thank you to Veracross! **What do you dislike about Veracross?** I wish it were a little more like Apple where you can just start and go. It's not as intuitive as I would like. Also, when it doesn't have a feature we need, they start a ticket, and it seems to take a while for this to be remedied. I wonder if they need more tech help/customer service? **Recommendations to others considering Veracross:** With training, you'll be impressed with this product. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to run reports, export data, print class and student information, do mailings, contact parents through the use of distribution lists. We are also able to print teacher schedules, grades and comments, and have a very helpful directory. ### 34. We can manage nearly all aspects of our constituent data, plus many processes. It’s changing our school for the better. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** There are not many complaints that I have about Veracross now that we have settled into the system. I will say that Veracross requires users to really understand its architecture in order to maximize how we build out and conduct our processes. This takes time, a very dedicated account manager, and ideally a dedicated system Administrator. While Veracross would not have told us how to organize our personnel to successfully implement and manage the system, we have truly found that without a dedicated system administrator, the system would be completely overwhelming. That said, with a talented manager on our staff, we’ve been making great strides using Veracross. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are reducing paper records, eliminating copies of data as we migrate student and other records from one process/office to another, and improving efficiency, all while making our constituencies happy with their user experiences! ### 36. As a parent, I can keep track of current grades, and as a teacher, it does all the weighting and averaging for me. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** It's not the easiest to navigate. Teachers sometimes have difficulty posting attachments with the assignments. The teacher website is nothing special to look at. There are some things that can be changed as far as the look, but it is not intuitive and easily done. **Recommendations to others considering Veracross:** Veracross has been able to fufill our needs. They seem to be interested in improving what they can offer to schools. **What problems is Veracross solving and how is that benefiting you?** Parent communication is improved with Veracross. It's easy to email all parents or students in a certain class. Posting assignments and course outlines on Veracross is a school standard. Students and parents alike always know what is due, even if the student is absent from school I like the feedback feature, but not all teachers take advantage of this feature. The calendar feature is something we are working on making the parents more aware of. ### 37. It was a single database, which made usage very convenient and easy. When I was using this, I was attending a private high school. I thought that they really understood the needs of teachers and students, and were able to show that through their services. I also really liked the simplicity of the design the best. It doesn't overshadow the point of the services- to help students to prepare well for their assignments and projects for school. **What do you dislike about Veracross?** There was nothing in particular that I disliked.
