What do you like best about TeamRetro?

TeamRetro's User Experience allows you to easily create, manage, and participate in Retrospectives. There are a variety of templates available, solid user management, and even integrations with platforms like Asana to ensure all of your retro tasks don't get lost in the chaos! Honestly, I haven't seen anything that I dislike. This is the most comprehensive retro tool I've used, and it's wildly affordable. I just wish the rest of my company would adopt it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TeamRetro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Unlike Confluence (or another tool your company may already be using for documentation purposes), TeamRetro has an intentional user flow for managing retrospective discussions. It asks for topics, allows you to group them, and then the team can vote on which topics they'd like to speak to the most. What do you like best about TeamRetro?

The UX is just great, and makes it really natural and intuitive, with all the steps involved on the retro are fantastic and fully supported with timers, voting, grouping, presentation mode, summary, actions, etc.In this way, any user could facilite a retro without training, and the features, and flexibility allows each team to perform them in its own way. What do you dislike about TeamRetro?

What do you like best about TeamRetro?

Teamretro really helped me to connect with my sprint team on our recent work and identify any areas for improvement. First of all, it has a simple design and it is easy to navigate. It helps me solve so many problems which occur in day-to-day business. What do you like best about TeamRetro?

TeamRetro is one of my best examples of good software!

- It is easy to learn and easy to use. Even the least IT-savvy participants can handle the tool very well right from the beginning due to its intuitive and smooth interface. Also, the sign-on (if required) is a simple one-two clicks procedure.

- As a result, the "tool" does not dominate the conversation and does what it supposed to do: TeamRetro supports our participants in focusing on their ideas, thoughts, improvement actions.

- The well-defined flow structure (brainstorming, grouping, voting, etc.) might be originally seen as a limiting factor. Practically, however, it covers most of the discussion needs, especially taking into consideration multiple configuration parameters available to the moderator in each phase. One can also jump back and forth, so the structure is in fact quite flexible. You can get a very good impression of the tool by trying the "bot" demo on their site.

- Health Checks (surveys) supplement the Retrospectives (boards) and help to collect quantitative feedback from the teams. For example, it helped us to implement the regular Happiness Index (originally done with Excel) and also to enrich the formats of retrospectives.

- The TeamRetro team is very supportive and eager to help, be it a technical or organizational request. I am quite amazed by the frequent deployment of new "tasty" features that constantly enhance the functionality of the tool. What do you dislike about TeamRetro?

Not really a "dislike" but rather a wish to extend the toolbox with further types of phases. For example, a whiteboard-like canvas where cards or columns can be custom arranged (e.g., in quadrants); or the phase where the cards are rotated among participants (e.g., brainwriting).

What problems is TeamRetro solving and how is that benefiting you?

We successfully use TeamRetro to organize Sprint Retrospectives for distributed teams. We also often use the functionality to organize ad-hoc workshops with smaller and larger groups that require brainstorming and prioritization of ideas. The tool fits very well because it requires minimum learning effort and delivers the expected result. I have never heard negative feedback about this tool and rather see a constantly growing interest from the individuals and departments who encounter and try the tool in our organization. What do you like best about TeamRetro?

I love how easy it is to facilitate a thorough retrospective with the tools TeamRetro provides. It manages adding ideas, grouping the ideas, and voting on them swiftly and easily. Presentation view for topics makes for an easy way to get people's attention to important discussion topics. The post-retro report is generates does a great job of keeping the team focused on what needs to be done to improve. I like how you can set due dates on items, and be sent reminders on them. What do you dislike about TeamRetro?

One of my biggest feature requests would be to move from a health check to a retrospective activity in one smooth transition. Right now, I have to provide two separate links to my team when I facilitate a retro. It certainly isn't the end of the world, but it's something I'd like to see added.

Also, right now TeamRetro works best with retros that have a structured flow to them. While this is great for stuff like Lean Coffee and The Four Ls, it makes it difficult for more abstract retrospectives that a coach or Scrum Master might want to introduce to provide variance. "Best retrospective tool especially for remote teams"

What do you like best about TeamRetro?

I have now been using TeamRetro for three years and have recommended it to multiple colleagues and clients. Comparing to other retrospective tools I've used, TeamRetro has many advantages.

TeamRetro is designed with a remote-first mindset i.e. it is built with asynchronous communication in mind. However it perfectly supports real-time communication and is very enjoyable to use as it shows the movements, additions, and interactions in real time.

I love that TeamRetro does not unnecessarily integrate with video conferencing tools and that there is no need to screen share in order to use this tool. This is a remote-first design that most other tools have completely overlooked and therefore either integrate with video tools or require someone to share their screen in order for collaboration to take place.

The design of the workflow and settings are intuitive and simple. The timer has a large range allowing for hours or days to be allocated to each step (perfect for teams that are in different timezones). The discussion and action taking functions are brilliant in terms of design and implementation and in particular allowing anyone to take notes and add actions.

And let's not forget some of the important factors that most other tools have overlooked:

- Team Health Check as part of the retrospective tool.

- TeamRetro is serious about protecting users' privacy.

- TeamRetro recognizes that retrospectives are not only for development teams and therefore does not require work email for account creation and has templates that can be used in any team (marketing, sales, nurses, bank clerks, volunteer group, etc)

- TeamRetro provides the option to host all data of a client on servers in the EU which is a unique plus point.

Overall, I'm very impressed with TeamRetro and so are all my team members and my clients to whom I have recommended this tool. TeamRetro is the best retrospective tool I've used for remote teams.

And to add to that, the communication with various people in the company has always been humane, caring and very attentive to nurturing relationships with customers and partners. If you want a user-friendly product to help you run better retrospectives remotely, look no further. I'm a remote work strategist and agile coach, I've used over 15 different retrospective tools and I think TeamRetro is the only one that truly delivers a smooth experience without compromising your privacy. To help remote teams reflect and adapt their ways of communicating, collaborating and improve their processes, I use a combination of regular Team Health Checks and frequent retrospectives.

This tool can also be used for colocated teams or hybrid teams (part colocated, part remote) as it guarantees the same experience for every participant and that is what I refer to as a remote-first design.

My latest client that adopted this tool, did not expect so many teams to talk about it and want to use it, but they did. Everyone from development to marketing to management groups in the organization wanted to use this tool as it really organized their discussions and focused them on following a simple process that resulted in actions every single time. "Agile Retro for Remote Teams"

What do you like best about TeamRetro?

I would recommend anyone who needs to find a way to connect and conduct retrospectives with their remote teams like we do (we have 8 people scattered across the world) to give this platform a go. It's so easy to use that it never distracts us from the discussion we have to have, so it keeps our retrospectives on time and effective. The reporting tool and integration with our Jira project management schedule is also great so that everything is always in one place. Another important requirement for working remote! "Best online retrospective tool"

What do you like best about TeamRetro?

I was blown away by TeamRetro the first time i used it. It was super user friendly and intuitive that by the end of our first meeting, I felt like an expert user. TeamRetro takes all the hassle out of preparing for and conducting the retrospective. I no longer need to worry about the administrative or logistics things like setting up projectors, having stick tapes handy, appointing a scribe to document discussion and action. I can pay full attention on my facilitation and it had worked wonders.
