## OmniFocus Reviews
  ### 1. Great for power users and small or solo business!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary K. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2021

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

OmniFocus is very flexible and fluid. It hides a lot of features in the interface gracefully, so they're there when you need them, but not drawing attention away from your work. Between views, projects, and tags, whatever your individual workflow for task planning, it can probably handle it.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

It's really pretty hard to use OF comfortably without at least some of the pro features, and the cost and feature gap between versions is significant. Omnigroup is moving toward a subscription model (who isn't?), but the price is steep—$100 a year for a single app. Otherwise, it's around $150 for both iOS and Mac, which you'll want.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a lot of overlapping, complex deadlines, and it's easy to miss little things without having it all in one place. The best part of OF, honestly, is the fact that I can combine this with all my personal tasks and projects. I schedule most of my own time, so it's essential that I don't get distracted with little things. OF makes that clear by putting everything together, alongside my appointments.

  ### 2. Powerful, Customizable, Relatively Steep Learning Curve for GTD Followers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sameer H. | Director of Business Development , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2021

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

OmniFocus is an extremely powerful and customizable task management program that follows the GTD principles. OmniFocus has a relatively steep learning curve, but if you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn the program, it can be an extremely powerful tool to help organize your projects and tasks. It's available across a variety of platforms including MacOS and iOS/iPadOS. As with any task management application, it is dependent on the user keeping up with tasks and not continually deferring them until they become overwhelming. OmniFocus also has a rich user community and forum willing to share best practices.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

OmniFocus' biggest strength, its customizability and flexibility, can also be its biggest weakness. It is not an application that is easy for the user to simply pick up and use, instead it requires some learning to get the most out of it.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OmniFocus is helping me stay on track and organized with my myriad number of projects (both personal and professional). It quickly at a glance gives me my most important tasks to accomplish for the day, and has become a part of my daily workflow

  ### 3. Good task management tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicolas V. | Chef de projet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2022

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Easy to use, UI and UX focus on task management, and synchronization between desktop and iOS devices.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

integration with other task management apps, such as working with colleagues on Windows.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Watch tutorial videos (short ones) to use the features in the most efficient way possible.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Focus on what to do at the right time

  ### 4. Powerful task management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank-Thomas N. | Owner and MD, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2022

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Gives you all the possibilities to taylor for your own needs

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

More possibilities to customise the UI would be good.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you are looking for a truly complete task management and GTD is your method, it is the best tool.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project Management

  ### 5. The best to-do list and project management software I've used.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle H. | Office Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

I love the ability to organize my projects both for home and for work, and sharing with my partner and colleagues to collaborate on shared project tasks. It's easy to see at a glance where we're at.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

The mobile version is a little clunky but I usually use the desktop version. I do wish that there were more integrations with other softwares that I use frequently.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used a lot of different task management softwares that are web-based but it's real standout feature is that the app stands on its own and isn't beholden to server problems, which web-based software usually is.

  ### 6. OmniFocus runs my life - REALLY

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2021

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

With OmniFocus I know what's important to do today, and which order to do it in. Tags are a lifesaver!

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

There is a steep learning curve that can be daunting for some people.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complex project and task management has become more manageable, I have over 2000 tasks in OmniFocus and with tags and custom views I see what's relevant not an overwhelming list.

  ### 7. Omnifocus is a game changer and a good investment for organization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liz C. | Senior Scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2021

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

It helps organize all your tasks, prioritize the urgency level in a manageable way

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

It's pricey and they don't give group discounts especially if you want all access for mobile and desktop

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has all your tasks and things you need to do in one central location instead of multiple ones scattered everywhere. It's easy to find and focus without having to think or find where your specific list is,etc.

  ### 8. Keeps Me on Track

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Russ F. | Marketing and Communications Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Being a disciple of David Allen's "Getting Things Done," OmniFocus was the best tool to implement the system I could find. Having the app on my phone, computer, and iPad make it easy to capture whenever and wherever.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Occasionally, the process seems a little heavy. Sometimes I don't follow the protocols exactly right with defer dates and due dates, and the system doesn't pop up tasks at the time I expect. The learning curve is a little steep.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you are a GTD fan, this is for you. Now the software has a web portal and can be used from almost anywhere. Be patient. There are plenty of resources online for learning the software, including Omni's page. Once you get your groove down, this software will become indispensable for your productivity.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used other productivity apps and tools in the past. One thing I always struggled with was the difference between a task and a project. Heck, I didn't really know the difference. OmniFocus helped me understand the difference and use the tool to accomplish more.

  ### 9. Life-changing task management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel W. | Senior Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2020

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Ability to brain dump tasks and sort them out later. Refactoring tasks into projects, creating perspectives to see just certain kinds of tasks, and great search and filtering all make my more productive.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

I wish there were more ways of filtering. For example, you can't filter for tasks that are due in a certain date range.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Try out Things as well, which has similar functionality. I find using Omnifocus Desktop plus the mobile app is a good pairing. I haven't tried the webapp version, but that might work well for some people.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How to manage everything I need to get done. Switching to an Omnifocus task management style helped me keep track of things I didn't even realize I should be tracking.

  ### 10. GTD perfect

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian P. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

If you've been in the GTD (Getting Things Done) mindset, Omnifocus can keep you on track, whether your projects are simple or extremely complicated. All the details get gathered in one place, so you can see EVERYTHING that's coming up, and of course you get to set contexts for dealing with every task. Different perspective views allow you to view your to-dos by project, by context (now handled in Ominfocus 3 by tags), or my most-used view, is the Forecast View, which incorporates calendar items as well as tasks I've set. Deadlines are easily set and progress tracked. Data can flow in from wherever you have it: You can turn an email into a task in a click; notes from OneNote or Evernote can be linked to any task (and the links can be set in both directions -- go to your notes and research from an Omnifocus task, or click in the note to go back to the task). Reminders are seamless to implement, all your "stuff" is in one place so you can make sure nothing gets forgotten.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Not the easiest learning curve, but it does a lot, so I guess that's understandable.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you have stuff coming from all directions, nothing beats Omnifocus for getting a handle on it all. If you have used GTD techniques before, you'll love it. There are plenty of good task managers, but none better. It does have a little bit of a learning curve, but it is well worth it in my view.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Numerous projects of all sizes can be managed in one place. We have people working with us in multiple countries and Omnifocus lets me track and proactively manage by the team member (or members), the project, the country, or overview the whole execution in one fell swoop. My personal projects are there, living happily along with everything else, and while they're easy to get to, they don't get in the way. I can certainly see the big picture at will, but can still have all I need at a click to focus exclusively on just one task, project or person. It's a convenience factor I simply couldn't live without.

  ### 11. The best task manager I've ever used, hands down

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kurt S. | Chief Security Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Put short, OmniFocus thinks like I do. It's a platform that allows me to keep tasks and ideas together, to capture activities while they're unfolding, and to get a global picture of what's going on. It's a lifesaver.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Other than the fact that I haven't found the best way to use item tagging, there isn't much to put in the dislike category.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Consider how to use OmniFocus to improve users by groups. For instance, engineers, executives, and technical writers all stand to gain from using this product, but it would be easiest to roll this out to the user groups individually.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using OmniFocus to manage the many spheres of my life, ranging from audit compliance at work to complicated hobbies to tracking my children's academic progress.

  ### 12. Omnifocus is easily the best task management tool.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan H. | Production Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

The ability to contextually bring tasks to you when you need them and can fulfill them. If I'm at home, it will automatically show tasks that I can do while at home.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

The only thing I wish is that you could link it up using something like Zapier and have tasks linked between other solutions. My work uses Asana for collaboration, so if I'm involved in a project, it lives in Asana, which means I lack the powerful context driven features I'm used to, and I'm bound to the internet.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you have lots of things to stay on top of, this is the tool you need.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's so easy to brain dump and then sort into projects, tag, and set dates. I find myself less stressed because I'm not holding on to information in my brain. This helps me (tada!!) stay focused and productive.

  ### 13. The ideal solution for the management of your tasks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** AUREA LUZ R. | Coordinadora de Compras, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

It is an application that covers many aspects related to the development of productivity at work, you can organize, order and assign tasks, it is very good for managing complete projects, set deadlines for tasks and assigned to others, send notes and even the location. It has very useful functions such as the calendar in which you can set appointments and view your pending tasks. The reminders can be programmed with Siri on mobile apple equipment and send reminders of pending tasks, functions, etc.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

One of the things that became a disadvantage was the change from equipment to free software in most computers, that greatly limited the use of software in our company.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We loved using this application in our department because it was easy to configure and integrate with other functions that have apple computers, such as Siri, calendar. We used it to manage the tasks of two projects related to the relocation of 2 of our offices. The tasks involved movement of movable property, administrative and legal tasks related to the purchase of the property to locate them, this required different logistics so having the help of this application was a lifesaver. Everyone knew what had to be done and the services that had to be hired and the personnel that had to intervene, an ideal synchronization that saves you time, human resources and a lot of time.

  ### 14. Regular user of Omnifocus

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Synchronization, easy to use, quick notes

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Complex organization with multiple notes, integrated reminder in the system (macOS iOS)

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

May find cheaper alternatives but with less quality. Support and community are good, software is easy to use, and there is the possibility to automate tasks.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping organized and planning actions leads to better productivity.

  ### 15. One of the most powerful task managers on the market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mayrelis D. | Analista corporativo, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

It is a good task manager that you can use from any device with iOS system, has tools and functions to categorize projects and observe their evolution from different perspectives, you will have an overview, detailed chronogram style to help you in monitoring.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

I wish it could be used in other systems, such as ubuntu or Android

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us a lot in projects related to big events, as we can be aware of the details of the organization without making big mistakes, I love the schedule view is very useful when you have many deadlines.

  ### 16. You still need to put your will

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diego Nazareno P. | Tech Master, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Very powerful, and you can notice has been the leader for many years.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Not so good for GTD, needs a better approach for "contexts"

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

You need much more than just a tool to be consistent with your goals.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing my own tasks with Getting Things Done.

  ### 17. Absolutely the best task management software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Omnifocus allows me to implement the Getting Things Done framework completely for my whole life.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

There are no collaborative tools, so I can't share tasks easily with friends or coworkers.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

I would recommend reading Getting Things Done by David Allen before starting with Omnifocus.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to quickly see what I could possibly do at any moment throughout the day.

  ### 18. Manage your time efficiently and complete your tasks on time

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edgardo Antonio R. | Abogado II, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

The aspect that I like most about this administrator is that you can program the tasks to accomplish them sequentially or you can program to perform two or more tasks in parallel, this is the difference of many other management applications,

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Only available for iOS, it is a disadvantage if not all team members have apple teams.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it mainly as a task manager, as a lawyer I handle a lot of litigation and cases that I must classify by order of importance but also by order of difficulty, the unique characteristics of this application have helped me to organize myself better to be more effective in my response to the company in the resolution of legal cases.

  ### 19. A power, flexible task manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

I love OmniFocus's ability to adapt to my workflow. Features like Custom Perspectives allow me to focus on the tasks I need to in the moment, and quickly to switch to another area of focus if needed. It is truly freeing to put all of your to do's into the Omnifocus system, assign due dates and tags, and then trust that the system will help you stay on top of things.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Omnifocus's power and flexibility can also be it's downfall, at least initially. When you first start using it, it's hard to know where to start, or if you are even using it the right way. But there are plenty of videos online and helpful people in the Omni forums who are happy to share their knowledge and what works best for them.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you've bounced around task managers for a while, never fully satisfied with one, look no further. Omnifocus is both powerful and flexible enough to handle whatever you can throw at it. It is well worth the investment!

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to consistently deliver clients' projects on time or ahead of schedule thanks to Omnifocus keeping me on task. I love the ability to prioritize my work based on due dates that are easy to see in a variety of different views.

  ### 20. Too much of a good thing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roger V. | Lead Pastor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

All sorts of bells and whistles. It has incredible capabilities.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Long learning curve. I tried for several weeks and kept having to go back to the instructions.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing my information and my day

  ### 21. Absolute best tool I use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris W. | Director of Bands, Education Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2018

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Its integration and rock solid infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Its only available in apple/mac os-Otherwise I think it would be perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Its simply the best task management program available. If you use David Allen's GTD its a bit more user friendly but its not a deal breaker. This app frees my mind to be creative and forward thinking while insuring that day to day and long term tasks don't fall through the cracks.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I run my businesses and personal life around Omnifocus. I have been using it for years as an early adopter. It simplifies my life and makes me clear and focused on creativity while it manages the day to day task.

  ### 22. I loved Omnifocus, however I couldn’t justify the cost

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

The whole layout and range of features really assisted in project management and workflow.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

The cost is the biggest downside. The mobile and desktop applications are separate purchases.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Do the free trial and see if you have the budget to use this. There are excellent reviews of this product online through a simple Google search - check them out. Also know that the desktop and mobile versions are separate purchases.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimal project management and timeline tracking.

  ### 23. The best task management app, both for personal and business use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

I like to call it, the Mac inspired design, which is awesome
Simple if you wanna go simple, advanced and customizable if you like to go deeper

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Nothing that I can think of relative to my current uses,

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

I don't think task management can be more easy or customizable

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Task management

  ### 24. The best task manager for GTD-type task management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Easy to use but powerful, and operates well on both OS X and iOS.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Sometimes I think the reminders/alarms could be better implemented.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you are considering Omnifocus competitors, you should consider the quality of the competitors' iOS applications. Omnifocus is excellent on the iPad and iPhone, which can be a differentiator for some users.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I keep track of all of my projects, home and work related, using omnifocus and find it to be very powerful and well-designed.

  ### 25. We love omnifocus at our office!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Animation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2019

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Omnifcous helps our team stay organized and on track

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

We wish we could share projects and tasks with other team members.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Omnifocus helps us solve our day to day to do list. It helps us stay on track throughout the week!

  ### 26. Best task manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan R. | Corporate Administrative Resident , Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

I like how it enables me to organize the many task and projects I have to complete

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

I don't like that I can't set reminders or alerts to due task. I can only set due dates

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Spend time going through the tutorials, FAQs, and online videos to understand all of the unique features and customizations you can take advantage of.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It enables me to map out all the various steps of a project. As a result, I can complete low hanging fruit objectives and gain momentum

  ### 27. Best digital GTD system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan M. | Co-founder & iOS developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

The team at Omni Group is amazing. Their software is extremely robust, continually developed, and really well designed. I love the quick entry shortcut on the mac and on iOS. I use it all the time to jot down ideas for later. Then it makes it really easy to triage tasks later. If you are looking for the best GTD solution, you use a mac and iOS devices, then you should be using OmniFocus. It is well worth the money. Buy the app on every platform so your lists will be with you when you need them.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

OmniFocus is a power user's friend. That said, some of the keyboard shortcuts can be hard to do or remember. Specifically getting to the notes section inside of a task. The only other complaint I have has to do with reviewing tasks. I wish it was easier to spread out the frequency for reviewing projects so they wouldn't all land on the same week. I know I can adjust how many weeks between reviews, but it's hard to have a high level view of which projects are going to get reviewed when.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you need GTD software for yourself (not a team), use a Mac and iOS devices, I highly recommend OmniFocus.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every time I have a project at work, I create an OmniFocus project and list out all the tasks that need to be done to finish the project. As I think of other things, it is really easy to add additional tasks. During my daily review, I can quickly look through my projects and see what I need to do the next day and set due dates on them. It is awesome.

  ### 28. I've tried other products and I keep coming back to OmniFocus!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David A. | Director of Administration, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

My favorite feature of OmniFocus is the "Forecast" view - I live in my daily/weekly forecast.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

I wish there was a "web" version for those rare times that I'm not at one of my personal devices that already has OmniFocus loaded on it. I wish it was a little more affordable so I could get my entire team to use it - and then have shared lists. But there's other tools for that too.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you need task management software or a to-do list solution that works with a team, this is not your best option. (Look at Basecamp, Trello and a variety of other options)

If you need a project management tool, this is also not your best option. (Look at OmniPlan)

If you simply want a simple to do list (not multiple lists, recurring rules, categories based on context/project/etc.), then use Apple Reminders or Google Tasks.

This is a robust tool, for personal task management.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personal Task management. I need a place that I keep all my todos - not my inbox, not my calendar, not my notes - a specific place just for to do lists. OmniFocus has been my place for 7 years now.

  ### 29. A brilliant personal task manager

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim R. | Senior Manager, Standards Program, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2018

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

If you're into productivity, I can't recommend the Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology highly enough. If you like GTD, I can't recommend Omnifocus highly enough. It's a brilliant way of containing the multitudes of projects, actions and deadlines that make up your personal and work lives.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Omnifocus is ultimately a personal task manager. It doesn't do shared lists, and doesn't really speak to anyone outside of its own system. This is a feature to some, however. Ultimately, you are accountable to the actions you take on, and there's value in having a hermetically sealed vault of all your responsibilities that no one else can alter.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OF helps me juggle multiple domains of responsibility, see projects through to completion, and methodically review the status of projects to ensure I don't drop the ball.

  ### 30. What would I do without Omnifocus?

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Events Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Omnifocus is my second brain - maybe my first. Everything I need to do is in here. It is a fantastic "central repository" that has excellent tools for triaging your tasks, and finding what you need (and can!) do at any given moment.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Search could be improved. In setting up perspectives, you can only search for one term, which is limiting. Multiple contexts and reminders beyond simple defer/due dates would be nice to have as well.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

This is for personal project management, and it's heavy duty - you have to invest some time into setup, but it is absolutely worth it.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping myself on track! The best part of Omnifocus, in my opinion, is the defer dates and contexts - if I can't do something (based on location, tools, or time) then I don't have to see it. This makes my to do list so much more manageable

  ### 31. Great for getting things done...at a price

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara C. | Owner/ Mixing and Mastering Engineer, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

I like that its flexible and you can find your own way to use the various fields in a way that suits you. There are a lot of people who use Omnifocus and you can find a myriad of opinions online about how to use the many features available. Sync to a cloud or only to your local device, it's your choice depending on if you use it across multiple devices. Syncs reminders with ical and I like the dark option too.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

It's very expensive compared to many similar products now available. To have to pay $40 or $60 for the mobile version when you have paid $40 or $80 for the desktop version is greedy IMO. You used to have to pay again if you wanted the iPad version but I'm not sure if this is still the case, best to check, don't assume you get it with the iPhone version.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Become familiar with the Getting Things Done principle of working by David Allen to make the most of the app

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management and productivity. Weekly reviews of projects are easy and ensure that tasks don't get forgotten.

  ### 32. Amazing and beautiful way to capture data and to keep someone engaged through smooth interaction

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Our forms are quite complex but since the questions are broken up with a smooth scrolling or "next page function" it makes the form seem less cumbersome. Also, everything looks really polished and professional.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Every once in awhile the typeform will not show itself on our squarespace website without a refresh. This maybe due to a cookie being on my test machine but I noticed it once in awhile. Not a huge issue overall and it's rare.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you don't need conditional forms you maybe able to start with their free tier. But creating forms and surveys is very easy so just give it a try and test the embed function on your sites.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have clients that would like to ask for quotes without waiting for a phone call or back and forth emails. Typeform allows us to ask questions with conditions to allow us to figure out exactly what the client needs.

  ### 33. Best GTD tool available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2018

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

The ability to define and quickly categorize tasks and integration with other tools like Mail make this indispensable. The built-in sync that allows connectivity to the iOS app is also extremely useful.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

There is very little to dislike in this product.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Make sure to use the online synchronization database if you plan to use the iOS apps.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OmniFocus helps me stay organized but also focus on what's important. I drop tasks into the Inbox and review and sort them later. This allows me to keep track of important tasks yet not forget those with lower priority at a later time.

  ### 34. Comprehensive in most ways

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Nanotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2018

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

It is a great outlining tool for personal project and task management. Syncs seamlessly and is rock solid. Great at capturing. Also great at project organization, with the ability to defer tasks and make projects sequential. Shows you only what you want.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Apple ecosystem only, no web interface. Can be difficult to do any big-picture horizons of focus management. Mobile apps are a little clunky at times.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Can be a bit expensive, but it is great for keeping all your stuff. But you have to be all in for it to work for you. Also, make liberal use of the mail drop feature when possible.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s great for implementing GTD at the ground level. Can be good for medium-scale daily planning.

  ### 35. Keeps me organized in an otherwise chaotic atmosphere!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim M. | VP of Marketing & Sales, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

I love the ability to break down projects into chunks that are easier to complete in steps. It keeps my brain clear of everything bouncing around in it.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

The mobile app is too slow to be useful, and the Apple Watch app is especially useless.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The owner and I are much more productive than ever before thanks to the way to-do items are listed and organized.

  ### 36. Has changed the way I run my life

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Annie D. | Owner, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

All the customization that it allows you.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

App crashes a lot but hasn't always and will probably be fixed

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Experiment with it and then use it the best way that makes sense for you. There are lots of ways to structure it and you can make it as simple or complex as you wish. There are so many features I don't even know about that could brutalized so weak!

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't miss small to do items and projects are streamlined much better. Helps me keep a balance in my work and my life.

  ### 37. OmniFocus is the best GTD application I have found so far

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diego Z. | Squad Lead and Product Owner in Enterprise Service Cloud, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Great UI, easy to use once you get started, lots of integration options with other applications in macOS and iOS.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Mac- and iOS-specific, which is a deal breaker unless you live entirely within the ecosystem. It's an expensive application - hard to justify the price for both the desktop and iOS version.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use OmniFocus to quickly capture all sorts of incoming "stuff", whether they are in an email, a web page, or my head. OmniFocus make it easy later to process them and determine any relevant next actions and put them in the corresponding context and projects.

  ### 38. Task management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebecca B. | Graduate Research Assistant, Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Great software for implementing GTD approach to task management. Allows for organization of tasks into "projects" and "contexts."

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Lacking some fine grained control over notifications, especially around location based notifications.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

It takes a bit of time on the front end to get set up, but it's worth it once you have a system up and running.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization of tasks

  ### 39. Great productivity tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2018

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Easy to record tasks, group them, categorize them, assign a medium (e.g. can be done offline, can be done on phone) so you can maximize productivity under any circumstances and only worry about the right work at the right time.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Mobile app is pretty expensive. Synchronization did not always work perfectly well.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 Employee productivity, time/ task management.

  ### 40. Best solution to organize your life

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Omnifocus is a powerful program that lets you sympify your life in an organized manner.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Sometimes there are a few to many steps.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to de cutter my mind by placing all of my thoughts in omnifocus and sort it into the correct project for the right time

  ### 41. My go to project organizer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Davina M. | Health Care Education Specialist - Web Developer, Government Administration, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

My favorite thing about OmniFocus is the syncing between all my devices. Since the last upgrade I love the interface more and the new features like maps/location. I've been using OmniFocus for seven years and with upgrades was able to easily move my data because OmniFocus provides a server for backups and syncing. The interface also allows for great separation between projects, task and personal.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

The cost is high but I can understand for all you get. I do wish that if you by the application for you computer that they provided the iPad and iPhone app for free. I also would like to use third party applications with OmniFocus like IFF for creating workflows.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a developer so I primarily use OmniFocus for project management and creating development documents. The benefits I have noticed from using OmniFocus is planning and tracking this way allows me to focus more and stay organized and I know where to find my information.

  ### 42. Time intensive but powerful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Contexts are a very interesting way of providing another pivot on your tasks; it basically allows you to see which tasks are associated w/ a particular place or person, etc. I also like being able to rapidly create tasks in the Inbox - gives you the ability to do a brain dump and get it all documented in rapid succession. I also like being able to set a deferred date and forget about a task for a while.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Providing details for each task is a bit time intensive, but they try to simplify it. Things like adding a due date with a single click of a "+1 Day" button are good attempts at this.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

If you have a complex set of tasks and projects that you work on, this can help you organize yourself. It might be too complex/detailed for many/most people I'd imagine.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to get personal organization across a variety of products/projects that I manage. Using it primarily for personal task management. I've already noticed I am more sane knowing that most everything that I need to do (work-related at least) is in a single place.

  ### 43. Omnifocus as my Global Dashboard

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Omnifocus offers strong flexibility in moulding it to all aspect of your personal and professional life. It's tight integration with MacOs offers users unique and efficiency that you won't able to find on other task management system. I really like the power of AppleScript and the automation that it offers to make your workflow seamless and second nature.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

None. I have no complains except that I hope in the future that they will add a feature wherein users can access their content using a web browser.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Omnifocus is the most powerful Task Management Software that I have used in my life. It won't immediately going to have a magical impact in the way you manage your life, but it's tight integration with GTD methodologies and its ability to moulded to that principle makes it a very powerful and promising software to have. I can't imagine living without using this powerful tool.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting things done and making sure you are in the right path of achieving zen in your life.

  ### 44. Keeps my life organized

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Norm C. | Salesforce Administrator, Religious Institutions, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2017

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

A solid platform that I can rely on. Omnifocus is on my laptop and phone and is always there to show me what's next.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Can take time to set up but is worth it. Would be nice to have a web based version.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a someone in a nonprofit I wear many hats. It would be very difficult to keep everything straight without a trusted system like Omnifocus.

  ### 45. Omnifocus is an absolutely essential app.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

While it may be dense, and hard to get to know, when you master Omnifocus, you can be absolute ninja, especially when it comes to the GTD system. There's no more powerful way to manage tasks--especially now that it includes automation!

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Sometimes it dense, and it takes a lot of intitial setup. Once you get past that intitial setup though, it's worth it. This is an app that you really have to put to work, but once you put it to work, it's a powerhouse.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping tracking of all of the many things that I need to do, when they're due, and when the best time to work on them is!

  ### 46. Good product but needs better integration

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arran C. | Consultant, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

OmniFocus is good for quickly describing a bunch of stuff you need to get done.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Omnigraffle really fails for me on a bunch of levels.

Firstly the interface is pretty unintuitive, I really don't want to read through the documentation to figure out when I should use a project, vs sequential actions, parallel actions or folders.

The 'note' pane in the inspector is pretty basic, and offers no formatting options (or at least no obvious ones) to really describe the task.

It'd be great if OmniFocus integrated with Calendar and Reminders in a meaningful way, and could do location based alerts. Like i'm in San Francisco with customer X working on projects A, B, C, or i'm entering into meeting Y at 15:00 GMT-8, which tasks to I need to complete before then.

A large part of that could be solved if contexts autoswitched based on location, but they're just not smart enough currently.

There's also no options for sharing tasks with other people in a project. I get that it's meant to be more of a personal project management tool, than an actual project management tool, but there's times when this would be a really useful feature.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

It's really best to consider this as a personal time management tool, rather than a proper project management tool. In that context it works well even if it may feel a bit unfinished when using some features.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time management

  ### 47. This is a life changing application

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicklas d. | Product Designer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

I've used a lot of todo lists and systems in the past, this is the only application that I've stuck with, day in, day out, for this amount of time. The ease of input combined with the advanced options for sorting, filing, repeating and flagging tasks is really great.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

Sometimes it's hard to find what you're looking for, unless you're looking in exactly the right place for it. As there are many options for how a list of tasks can be viewed, and many contexts to consider there's a bit of a learning curve involved.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Make full use of the trial, it's worth the cost.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OmniFocus allows you to stay productive as it enables you to always know what's next on the agenda. You can implement a full GTD methodology or roll your own style of task management, there's lots of flexibility there.

  ### 48. Get total control of your life

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonas B. | User Experience Manager, Information Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Using OmniFocus to follow the GTD method is both a great experience in using their beautiful and simple app, but also to ease your brain from all the stuff you shouldn't need to worry about. Getting things done are awesome!

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

My biggest complaint is still the sync service, it slightly improves, but comparing to other apps this lacks speed and reliability in the sync process. Sometimes it feels you need to manually sync your devices which is a pain sometimes.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Really get to know the GTD method before starting using the app. It might be a lot to get your mind around at first, but ones you do you will never want to go back!

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this throughout my life, both personal and professionally. It helps me organize what things I need to do and focus on and helps me to always make sure I will finish projects I start on and do the stuff I promise people I would do.

  ### 49. Simply the Best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher H. | Peer Mentor, Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OmniFocus?**

Everything. This is the most powerful to do list manager in the world. I use about 10% of its full potential and I still think it's worth more than I pay for it. It syncs perfectly, it has intuitive keyboard shortcuts that make to-do list creation easy, it allows parallel or sequential projects, it allows projects within projects, it uses contexts so that you only worry about tasks while you can do them, and that's only scratching the surface of what Omnifocus can do.

**What do you dislike about OmniFocus?**

The software is very powerful, and at times it can feel like by not learning more about it, I'm throttling myself, but it isn't very easy to learn beyond the base level of what it can do without a certain amount of knowledge or dedication. It also offers so many options that early on it can be overwhelming to figure out exactly how you want it set up, especially for people with less traditional tasks.

**Recommendations to others considering OmniFocus:**

Make sure you need it, it's not helpful if you're only looking for simple to-do lists, that makes it no longer worth the price. Don't pay for features you won't use.

**What problems is OmniFocus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this for my entire life, from my morning to-do's to my major projects, and I've realized how quickly and effectively Omnifocus can scale with me and leave me feeling more confident in my next steps, rather than feeling a need to scale back.

  ### 50. Is more than a to-do-list app, it gives you the simplicity of one with the power of a PM tool

- The simplicity and user-centric interface
- iCal integration
- The Sync feature of data in the cloud
