"Flexible and scalable CMS platform with a bit of a learning curve"

What do you like best about Kentico?

The best part about Kentico for me is the modular component setup. It’s very helpful when you're building out a bunch of pages as you can just drag and drop different components, reuse them across the site, and then edit the configuration to make them appear slightly different. After that you can just drop in the content copy and images and away you go. It saved me a lot of time and keeps the UI and UX consistent. I'm not overly technical, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to use. You can also set up email responses, flexible forms, metadata and tagging. What do you dislike about Kentico?

As mentioned in the subject line, there is a bit of a learning curve. However, after a week or so and getting familiar with the navigation, it becomes second nature. I feel some of the admin interface could do with smartening up and perhaps some more tool tips or smart search would be helpful. Scheduling tasks was one area that could also do with simplifying as we ran into one or two issues initially when setting this up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Kentico solving and how is that benefiting you?

Kentico helps us manage a lot of content across different pages seamlessly. The way it lets us reuse components and templates means we don’t have to rebuild stuff every time. We just drop and go. It also makes it easier to keep layouts consistent. Overall, it’s helped us work faster and keep everything more organised, which is great when you're working to project deadlines. You're absolutely right that there’s a bit of a learning curve, especially around scheduling and some parts of the admin UI. Your suggestions for more tooltips and improved smart search are spot on — those kinds of enhancements make a big difference for day-to-day usability and are areas we’re continuously improving.

What do you like best about Kentico?

I really like all of the various marketing tools that Kentico's products provide. It's incredibly easy to create pages, organize content, and create a truly special and dynamic website made for various audiences. What do you dislike about Kentico?

I dislike the uncertain future of using Kentico as an on prem solution. Xperience 13 is a quality product that we have been able to use exceptionally well within our organization. With the sunsetting of support for Xperience 13, we are being put in a situation where we have to move our content to Xperience by Kentico. Xperience by Kentico is missing many things that Xperience 13 has and it functions differently from a structural standpoint. What do you like best about Kentico?

Xperience by Kentico allows me to deliver robust sites in a short amount of time allowing my clients to utilize out of the box features and functionality. Following Kentico's recommendations you can easily create customizations and integrate with other systems. Kentico also provides 7 day bug fixes and excellent customer service.

Kentico has a very strong solution partner network who can assist design, development, implementation, and provide expert service to end clients. Kentico also allows the users to provide ideas for the product roadmap and allow others to vote and share their use case for that idea.

Up until this last major evergreen release, Xperience by Kentico, clients had to wait for at least a year to receive new features and enhancements. With Xperience by Kentico being an evergreen product now, we're seeing new features every month! What do you dislike about Kentico?

Recommendations to others considering Kentico:

When starting your site follow the documentation and Kentico recommendations. Doing so will allow you to have smooth upgrades and hotfix updates. Use Kentico support and the DevNet community for help and support with any problems or questions you have. Kentico's support is very knowledgeable and work very closely with the developers and product owners to provide you with a solution to your issue. They are their for you to use, so do so. Many clients are looking to make their website more data driven. Typically these other data sources are from third party vendors and need some sort of integration to display on their site. Kentico allows me to solve this problem and provide me, the agency,with industry standard tools and software to develop a seamless integration for our end clients. Kentico gives us everything we need to run a complex, custom-tailored B2B eCommerce platform. The out-of-the-box capabilities are impressive, and the platform is stable, secure, and scalable. With a skilled implementation partner (thanks Bluesoft ;)), we’ve been able to build advanced, for our business-specific features. The licensing model could be more transparent and easier to plan for long-term. We upgraded from Kentico 12 to 13, and now we’re expected to move to Kentico Xperience again — which feels like a big and expensive step.
