Because the presentation format is "magazine" with turnable pages, it's possible to imbed all different kinds of media in a "storytelling" framework. This same media can be easily overlooked when presented in isolation. In a magazine format, where people are progressing through information or entertainment in a way they are familiar, people engage more with the information on individual pages. Also, magazines are one format where people expect to see ads and ads are an integral and sought out part of the experience. **What do you dislike about Issuu?** If you are a solopreneur or publisher, It can be difficult to keep track of the details, especially if you have mulitple publications. Issuu requires a user to be detail-oriented. **What problems is Issuu solving and how is that benefiting you?** I need to combine text, images, video, and audio into compelling stories that will interest a reader in a company's offerings. I need a high perceived value for the platform I use to communicate to potential clients and customers. The magazine format usually surpasses the book format in prestige. I used to advertise in high end magazines and newspapers for exposure, but, instead, with Issuu, we created our own high end magazines. We're able to privately communicate targeted media in a top-end format. ### 3. So many other online platforms introduce advertisements or things that lower the visual quality, and I am so pleased that ISSUU has not gone down that road. **What do you dislike about Issuu?** If I had to say anything bad, it would be the cost. But also, I haven't figured out how to promote my work at ISSUU. There isn't any info on how the platform decides to present material. It is harder and harder for smaller companies to get exposure. The flipbook is interactive and has the "download" and "share" options. It is easy to embed the flipbook on your website using the embed code Issuu provides. I also like that you can create a video or a GIF of your publication, which can then be shared on social media. **What do you dislike about Issuu?** I don't find the Story or Article feature particularly helpful. It is supposed to help you create stories for Instagram or articles for the web quickly and easily, but I did not find it very intuitive to use. The viewer is only available via Issuu in the portrait orientation and does not rotate to landscape orientation. I expected an online publishing service that could host digital copies of my organization’s monthly publications. I got this and a host of other features! Issuu lets me seamlessly share our work on all social media platforms, provides us with fantastic statistics that allow for tracking of readership (even by reads per page), allows for beautiful customization of the reader experience, including automatic page-turning, embedded videos, and customized desktop backgrounds for their e-reader! We have published documents for both internal and external use and we continue to find many other uses for digital documents. They have been used in both creative and formal environments, and are finding different uses for them all the time. It's also priced affordably so it's a no-brainer to work with them. **What do you dislike about Issuu?** I really don't have any major complaints. On occasion some of the newer services (like creating visual stories) can be a little slow, but as it's a bonus option and not the primary reason I use Issuu it's not a big deal to me. **Recommendations to others considering Issuu:** If you're looking to digitally publish a magazine this is the place to do it. I used the free plan for years to supplement my printed magazine but after the pandemic moved to a fully digital platform and upgraded to a paid plan so that I could access the detailed analytics. I would like a wider variety of link "buttons" such as "call now", "View Now" and a more visible icon for the "Download" button but in terms of functionality its a great platform! **Recommendations to others considering Issuu:** Move beyond the free subscription so that you get the best features of the platform and so your work is always showcased without any third party advertising - its so much more professional. Also make use and partake in the wide range of online and live online tutorials that will give you a real edge when using the platform. **What problems is Issuu solving and how is that benefiting you?** Problem solved was pivoting from being a paper publisher to a digital one. Issuu has delivered a strong platform that has enabled me to make that change without the cost implications that would come with in-house development. The benefits are huge! We were looking for a platform to publish our PDF newsletter digitally so people could read it online full screen and flip through the pages in a way that mimics print media. Our journey was over after finding ISSUU. We used the free version for a few years but recently upgraded and have been loving it. ISSUU is truly an amazing technology for digital publications. Having done all the uploads and publications myself, I much appreciate their intuitive interface and simplicity. No one compares to their platform at all. In the pandemic climate, digital media is king. We have found great engagement with our Issuu publications across our website, social media, and email campaigns. Issuu makes it easy to share our work with anyone and everyone. It's allowed us to take our print magazine and offer it digitally for those who prefer the online experience. The price is just right and they truly deliver on what they offer and promise. Issuu is also looking for new ways to improve their client offerings & also asks Advocis to participate in pre-launches which has been an added bonus! We publish FORUM magazine quarterly both through print and Issuu for the online version. We love the way it allows for full-screen viewing and simulates page flipping. We simply export our InDesign files as a pdf and upload them to Issuu. It's also a great place to find other financial services magazines for inspiration! **What do you dislike about Issuu?** There's nothing at all to dislike about Issuu.
