What do you like best about Givebutter?

I love that it is providing a free and comprehensive service to non-profits, making raising money so much easier. I first use Givebutter for a personal fundraiser and was blown away by how easy it was to use the virtual auction software. We raised over $5,000 that day and I still talk about Givebutter and how it was a big reason for the success in that fundraiser. Since then I've held two more virtual auctions for clients, handled email engagement, and created reports. I've found very little I don't like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

There isn't much I don't like about Givebutter, if I had to as something, I'd say that the email UX can be a little tricky if you aren't familiar with it. I've had clients hire me just to put emails in for them, and, as much as I like the business, I feel bad for these non-profits who are spending their hard-earned money for something so simple. What do you like best about Givebutter?

It provides an easy way for our nonprofit to update our silent auction on the fly without sacrificing the user experience for bidders. Adding photos, descriptions, minimum bids & reserves help us take the guess-work out of an already super busy event! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

The check-out process felt a bit clunky for us in verifying item pickup/check-out. We may not be doing it in the most efficient way (not sure!), but we had so many silent auction items in various categories that we typed in the item name to pull it up and mark it as picked up (we had the auto-pay at bid win turned on, so payments were not a concern). However, we couldn't find an easy way to view items not picked up/fulfilled versus not bid on/won. This caused an issue where we packed up a couple items to ship back (they were on loan to us), and actually had to process a refund for the bidder when they reached out a couple days after the auction closed - losing quite a substantial amount raised for our organization. "User-Friendly and Reliable, But Event Tools Could Be Stronger"
What do you like best about Givebutter?

Givebutter is a solid, user-friendly platform that works really well for what we need. We use it for event ticketing, online silent auctions, and website donations, and it’s been reliable and easy to manage. It’s straightforward for both our team and our donors, which saves a lot of time during busy event seasons.

I also appreciate that it integrates seamlessly with Stripe, making payment processing simple and transparent. For a free tool, it offers a lot of flexibility without being overly complicated; everything works the way it should. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

Overall, Givebutter is a great free tool, but a few areas could be improved. The tip function can be confusing for donors, often making fees look higher than they are, which sometimes causes frustration unless we explain how to adjust it.

On the administrative side, the event management tools are somewhat limited. I was glad to see the new table seating feature added, but for larger events like galas, more robust planning and tracking options would make a big difference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Regarding the tip function, admins have flexibility; you can choose to hide it or not show it on checkout at all. As for event management, we hear you! I am really enjoying the ease of use when it comes to Givebutter. Our previous platform was difficult to navigate and did not have the necessary tools we needed. We have not found too many things we do not like yet. One thing we are working on with our onboarding representative is getting our receipts to accurately reflect that a donor is giving to our organization. "Seamless Donation Tracking with Minor Performance Hiccups"
What do you like best about Givebutter?

I really like the notifications by email when donations are received. The reporting of gross and net donations is also very useful. It helps to keep track of donations effortlessly. I like how easy it is to see the separation of gross and net donations, which is great for sending thank you notes and tax reporting, as well as for bank reconciliation. The easy website integration and the tracking and reporting of donations received are very handy. It was also nice that the initial setup required minimal effort on my part since the back-end work was handled by our national support team, making it a smooth process. The auction was relatively easy to run, it was fun to see folks bidding on items, and it worked out well. The option of giving a tip but no pressure to contribute helped me feel like contributing. one person disputed their transaction, not because they didn't recognize their donation, but they were unhappy with the service they received. We were showing a negative balance, so that was confusing to me because it occurred 8 months after the auction was completed. it was very hard to find the "disputed transaction". What do you like best about Givebutter?

At the Jacksonville Speech and Hearing Center, we host an annual fundraiser called FinFest. It is one of our signature events that brings in nearly 400 attendees and $200K in fundraising. Prior to Givebutter, we used Eventbrite to sell tickets, then Give Lively to secure sponsorships and pledges, then Greater Giving to manage our silent auction. It was a relief to find Givebutter that helped us eliminate these extra platforms, processes, and associated fees! We appreciate the ease of implementation with the onboarding team. We were so happy with the all-in-one solution that could manage our sponsorships, ticket sales, and silent auction and help us with our donor database and data hygiene. What do you like best about Givebutter?

The ease of which it was to create an auction and engage donors in our work. There were so many options for customizing our Silent Auction and the communication was seamless with donors to come back and participate once they were in the system.

I loved that the option was there for "fund a need" straight donations in addition to they typical silent auction offerings like minimum bid, maximum bid, reserve bid, etc.

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

At times we would have liked to edit small changes in a listing, but weren't able to once there was a bid on it. I understand why, but being able to make those changes would have been nice.

As we were setting up our peer to peer fundraising platforms there were some options we would have liked to incorporate, but they were not available (multiple types of ticket purchases).
