## Fathom Reviews
  ### 1. Powerful Assumptions and Sub-Department KPI Tracking Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy F. | Strategic Development Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I really love the range of assumptions on the profit and loss statement, and how easy it is to refer to your assumptions. I also really like the ability to write KPIs on a sub-department level, which is good for department managers.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I don't understand where and when to use Driver's and I don't like the balance sheet budgeting. I find the journals and schedules frustrating for existing loans that are partially through payment. And I don't like that there aren't good options for projecting inventory by subdepartment.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As soon as I master the balance sheet projecting, I love that I will be able to have a reliable cash flow projection that changes as I forecast an operational improvement plan in my P&L. That's really powerful for management.

  ### 2. Seamless Meeting Summaries and Action Items—Accurate Notes Without the Effort

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas L. | Account Executove, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

What I like most about Fathom is how seamlessly it captures and summarizes meetings without needing any manual effort. It takes really accurate notes, highlights key moments, and automatically creates action items, which saves a ton of time after calls. I also like how it integrates well with tools like Zoom and makes it easy to share clips or summaries with the team.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

One downside is that the summaries can occasionally miss context or require slight edits, especially for more complex or technical discussions. Also, depending on the call quality or accents, the transcription might not always be 100% accurate. It’s not a dealbreaker, but you still need to quickly review before sharing externally.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Fathom, a big challenge was trying to stay engaged in meetings while also taking notes and making sure nothing important was missed. It was easy to lose key details or spend extra time after calls writing summaries and follow-ups.

Fathom solves that by automatically recording, transcribing, and summarizing meetings. It lets you focus fully on the conversation instead of multitasking. After the call, you instantly have a clear summary with key points and action items, which saves a lot of time.

It’s especially helpful for sharing insights with the team—whether it’s handing off a deal, looping in someone who missed the call, or quickly reviewing what was discussed. Overall, it makes meetings more productive and removes a lot of manual work.

  ### 3. Powerful Forecasting, Needs Better Budgeting Scenarios

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pieter B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I find Fathom quite valuable for building long-term cash flows and preparing reports for the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK. It's great for creating a three-year monthly plan. I appreciate that it lets me import data and quickly spot trends over time, which helps identify weaknesses and areas that need development. Once I got the hang of it, it's pretty quick to use. I really like the graphics, which allow me to set up my own colors and branding. Pictures tell a thousand words, and Fathom captures that perfectly.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

Sometimes the budgeting isn't straightforward, especially creating scenarios for adding extra employees and associated costs. That doesn't work particularly well for me, and I struggle with it. Also, the initial setup was painful because it involves quite a bit of learning, but it improves with usage over time.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom to import data and quickly see trends, identify weaknesses, and prepare for financial conduct authority reporting. It helps me build long-term cash flows and forecasts efficiently.

  ### 4. Simple Xero Integration, Dynamic Dashboards, and Responsive Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

Simple, straightforward integration with Xero actuals. The interface is user-friendly and includes features that support strong forecasting and reporting. The dashboards and templates are dynamic, with plenty of options to customise depending on the use case. Webchat support is consistently responsive and helpful. We moved from CastAway to FATHOM for a fraction of the price and haven’t looked back.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

Linear regression calculations have proven virtually useless for us when forecasting; however, there are enough alternative options available without it.

The report charts offer decent options, with some limitations (for example, stacked bars aren’t possible in a combined chart with line graphs). More control when formatting reports would also be welcome. In addition, custom periods in report charts feel inconsistent. For instance, selecting “2 prior periods” includes the current period in some charts, while in others “2 prior periods” are shown in addition to the current period.

Some UI features also aren’t consistent across the tool. For example, grab handles appear in the Chart of Accounts but not in the Microforecast expanded view, even though click-and-drag reordering is possible in both places.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FATHOM has fast-tracked our reporting, including end-of-month reporting, rolling forecasting, covenant reports, budgeting, and KPI analysis. It also does a lot of the heavy lifting during the budget process. Overall, it has saved considerable time and enabled the finance department to scale alongside business growth without adding extra cost. On top of that, it has significantly improved the quality of the information we share with our report users.

  ### 5. Makes Financial Reporting Simple with Clear Dashboards and Helpful Integrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

what I find most helpful is how it makes financial reporting much easier and more organized. The reports & dashboards are simple & easy to understand. It's easy to review KPIs, trends & business performance. Onething I really like is that even clients who are not finance focus can easily understand the reports. It also helps our coaches to have smoother & productive conversations w/ them. The acct software integrations are very helpful too. While there can sometimes be sync issues, fathom makes it easy to identify and fix problems between the acct software & the fathom numbers. Another thing is I appreciate your customer support team, they are responsive & easy to work with whenever I have questions or needing assistance.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

One area that could be improved is reducing the amount of manual work needed for some tasks. For example, when the COA changes in the acct software, it does not automatically update in Fathom so we still need to update it manually. AR/AP data also doesn't update automatically yet.Another limitation is that Fathom only pulls the COA from the acct software so custom P&L layouts cannot be imported directly. I also can't export reports in bulk across all companies.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Fathom, we've been using a very old program. It requires a lot of manual work. We had to request monthly P&Ls from our clients. With Fathom, reporting became much faster because it is automated, time saver! We can now quickly review our clients financial performance in one place and it syncs daily w/ their acct software. Onboarding & monitoring multiple client accounts is easier because we can easily identify sync issues or unusual financial movements

  ### 6. Effortless Financial Presentations with Fathom

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I like how well Fathom presents financial data in very different formats depending on which audience I'm presenting to. As an outsourced CFO, I find it particularly valuable as many of my clients are visually led, and presenting financial data in graph or visual formats helps them understand what's happening in their business more easily. It's also more malleable than Xero on its own, allowing me to present data in more easily readable formats for my clients.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

It could be more customisable. For example, I'm not able to run a rolling twelve month profit and loss report as a single column, which would be useful for my clients so we can review rolling 12m to date vs prior year.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom to present data in easily readable formats for clients. It's more flexible than Xero, allowing me to tailor financial data presentations in visual formats, making it easier for visually oriented clients to understand their business.

  ### 7. Highly Customizable with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edyta Z. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I use Fathom for forecasts and monthly reporting. It makes good monthly management information packs quickly, and I find it easy to use. I really like the layout and flexibility, as there are many options to customize tables and charts. It's easy to set up layouts that I like and need for each client. I also like the option to save templates that can later be used for other clients. Additionally, the support team is great at answering all queries quickly, which made the initial setup okay.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

The forecasting feature could be improved, especially the microforecasts as they don't work as well as I'd hoped. For example, when setting up automatic VAT calculations, only 'baseline' transactions are included and anything from a microforecasts isn't part of the VAT automatic calculations. Also, in the reports, tables aren't as flexible as I'd like. I can't make tables take up half the page or two-thirds, like with charts; they have to be the full width of the page. Additionally, the percentage results are always shown with two decimal places, and there's no option to customize that.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom for forecasts and monthly reporting. It makes good monthly management packs quickly and is easy to use. It offers many options to customize tables and charts and allows saving templates for future use.

  ### 8. Affordable Alternative with Customizable KPIs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I like the relative ease of customizing different KPIs with Fathom, which is great because we have certain metrics that are highly specific to our operations and need to be tracked. It's also an affordable alternative for consolidating books compared to ERP systems that cost a thousand to two thousand dollars a month and require no implementation. The price is super important for a small business like mine.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

When we have a change on our chart of accounts, a change in names specifically, that can cause all of our formulas to break down instead of referencing the old account, it just breaks the formula, and then I have to go in and make sure that all the formulas are reset.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fathom helps with quick month end closing and is an affordable alternative for consolidating books. It allows me to customize KPIs for our specific metrics, which is crucial for our operations.

  ### 9. Robust Budgeting Tool with Stellar Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elyssa B. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I find Fathom very helpful, especially for its forecasting features. We use the forecast mostly to make our budget at the end of the year. It's easy having the rolling 12 months imported; then Fathom calculates what it thinks the forecast is which we can easily update. The reporting functions are very easy to use to make custom reports which can be shared with the team. I also like that Fathom imports class data with actuals and budget. The integration with QuickBooks works really well, especially bringing in the budgets and the AR/AP. The initial setup was very straightforward, and there's a really helpful user guide on each new page you visit, making it easy to navigate. The customer support team is incredibly helpful, responsive, and quick, solving all my issues. It's usually the same few people you're chatting with, which I find reliable.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I really wish Fathom had the ability to bring in vendors or customers because often you want to drill into that detail within the Analysis tool.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom to make our budget at the end of the year, update quarterly forecasts, and compare against our budget to see how we're doing. It simplifies reporting with easy-to-use functions for custom reports.

  ### 10. Fathom: Tackles Inefficiency with Fast, Accurate Reporting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wendy M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I really like how Fathom solves inefficiencies we had and removes the risk of human error. The speed of producing reports and the variety of reports that can be generated with the same data are impressive. It allows me to produce reports confidently for management, directors, and our external board, providing them with the information they need. Setting up Fathom was easy, getting the format we wanted was straightforward, and once set up, it was ready to use fast.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

There are times that you need to review the formulas it calculates as it misses some custom KPIs that should be included. We aren't able to connect it to our Sage50.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom to streamline financial reporting, reducing inefficiencies and human error. It speeds up report production and offers variety, enabling confident reporting to management.

  ### 11. Versatile Tables, Charts & Linked Metrics That Power Our Reporting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | Chief Financial Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I’m a huge fan of how versatile Fathom’s tables, charts, and linked metrics are for my regular reporting cycles. The live chat support function is also a big win; when I reach out for help, I can count on having someone real on the other end within 10–15 minutes.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

Some areas of Fathom feel a bit too rigid. I’d like to be able to build truly bespoke tables and reports, rather than having to work within the confines of the canned reporting tools that are available. That said, the Fathom team is always open to product improvement ideas, and there does seem to be a way to solve any problem you might run into - even if that means building a bespoke table or chart externally and then pulling it into the pack as an image.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistent reporting across a group of seven entities is a real win for me as the Group CFO, and for the senior leadership team, because everyone knows what to expect when receiving the regular management pack. Fathom also gives me confidence that the numbers are correct when I’m slicing and dicing the data into different views. There’s no more Excel formula fine-tuning just to get the outputs I want; it’s all available at the click of a button.

  ### 12. Intuitive Setup and Prompt Support for Fast Consolidations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leli C. | Director of Finance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

Its quite easy to use, quite intuitive, even without tutorials i was able to set up companies (both through api and excel) and create groups and consolidations. the support is very prompt and to the point. good exerience overall

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

i am a new user, and the only thing i disliked so far is that the excel template has several restrictions as to the format. but not a big niusance

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it helps me consolidate large number of organizations in several different countries, different accounting structures and currencies. good reporting and board pack tool

  ### 13. Great Support and Error-Proof Financial Reporting Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

Support is great, and the knowledge base articles are well prepared. As a financial performance solution, Fathom provides management with an easy-to-update tool that delivers quick results and is error-proof from a formula point of view.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

There aren’t many drawbacks. I’d only say that Fathom is very flexible—until it isn’t. This doesn’t happen often, but you’ll run into it as you build more creative reports and try to do something a little different.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven’t had any formula issues when updating reports or rolling forward from month to month or year to year, which can sometimes happen with an Excel-based model. Reporting updates are also easy and fast, even when I just want to do a quick mid-month check-in.

  ### 14. Fathom

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I use Fathom for consolidating monthly management accounts, and it has been a huge benefit because it takes a lot less time. Once the mapping is sorted, it makes the process much more streamlined going forward. I like that the reporting is really smart, helping produce really good, understandable, simplified reports that are presentable at board level. The templates are useful because once everything is set up, it makes the process so much quicker.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

The consolidating of group accounts is more complex. That's understandable because it is a complex job in general. Also, sometimes adding in custom stuff, it doesn't work as well. And adding a custom document has got better lately but still isn't ideal. The setup took time and is pretty intense, especially when dealing with unrealized profit and needing third-party eliminations. Cash flow forecasting is tricky, especially for startups with irregular cash flows and revenue streams. The budgets are also very difficult to use in Fathom due to so much volatility and changes. The setup could be improved if there was a better way of doing journal entries rather than the adjustments.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom for consolidating monthly management accounts, which saves time and streamlines processes. The reporting feature produces smart, simplified reports suitable for board presentations, making things quicker once set up.

  ### 15. Exceptional Support, High Learning Curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marla P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I love the speed and detailed responses from Fathom's chat customer service. Every time I have a question, a real human responds almost immediately with helpful, detailed answers. Often, they include a video showing exactly how to do what I'm asking, like creating or altering a report or presenting data in a specific way. Even when I've messaged as late as 10pm, they've responded. It's almost unheard of but so appreciated. I also find the initial setup to be easy, although I had help from my accountant.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

There's a big learning curve. I'm sure I still don't use it anywhere near as much as I could if I understood everything.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom for consolidated financial statements and detailed reporting.

  ### 16. Exceptional Usability and Support for Consolidation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dale M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I find Fathom excellent in terms of usability and service communication. It's very easy to use, and getting answers to any questions is straightforward and quick, with the team responding in just a few minutes. The tool has been really beneficial for consolidations and analytics for our business, particularly as we have many entities. The initial setup was very easy, thanks to the team's step-by-step help.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

It still has limitations, like the Mongolian Turk currency is not recognized by Fathom. So there are still a few of those kind of minor issues, but I'm sure they'll be improved with time.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fathom simplifies the consolidation process for my many entities, making analytics easier and more efficient.

  ### 17. Effortless Reporting and Smart Forecasts with Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jazmín A. | Financial Analyst/Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

The key advantage is that it can connect to your accounting system to pull the data and generate visual reports without spending excessive time designing charts or templates. You also have the ability to produce forecasts using smart predictions that automatically adjust for future months, eliminating the need to update each period manually. In addition, you can build scenarios or a main forecast to see how the numbers might behave under various assumptions, and you can toggle these on and off as needed without having to continually redo everything from scratch. Oh, and the service is great. They are there for whatever you need and provide exceptional guidance.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I work from Latin America, and it would be helpful to have the articles in Spanish. I wasn’t pleased that images couldn’t be added before, but now that it’s possible, that’s excellent.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My manager prefers everything to be highly visual. I can build this in Excel, but it would take a significant amount of time. Having charts that update automatically when the month closes solves that, leaving only a few manual adjustments for me. In addition, my manager always wants to review scenarios, and with Fathom this is feasible without much effort. It saves time.

  ### 18. Effortless, Professional Reporting with Stunning Visuals

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dorothy R. | Finance Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I love how easy it is to use and how beautiful the reporting looks. My reports look polished and professional. The software our company uses has very bad reporting in it which is not usable in any way really so I like that Fathom can present our information in an easy to understand way and has many different charts, KPIs etc that help with clear presentation.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

A downside for me is that it doesn't integrate with MYOB EXO, but to be fair not much integrates with it - I just import numbers manually which adds an extra step but I don't mind terribly.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fathom is presenting our financial information in a way that makes it easy for management to make financial decisions and see progress over the years. Our current accounting software does not do any meaningful reporting so Fathom is really filling that gap for me.

  ### 19. Attractive, Easy-to-Use Reports

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Import and Export | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

Attractive presentation of the reports for viewers. It is also pretty easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I would like to be able to draw information from our sales ledger and our purchase ledger as well as from the nominal ledger. The integration and updating from our accounts package is also not the easiest, but that is largely because of the accounts package and not Fathom.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It means that we get a better presented management pack compared to the reports which our accounts package offers and it is easier to compile than exporting to Excel.

  ### 20. Powerful Profit and Cash Flow Forecasting with Multiple Prediction Tools

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric O. | President and Ownger, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

Being able to forecast proft and cash flow with multiple prediction tools.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

Sometimes you don't get all of the information from the QBO integration.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to provide a client with a forecast of where their business is going based on data, in a way that's not too difficult to read.

  ### 21. Efficient Financial Modeling with Instant Insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Doug T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

Fathom makes creating projections so efficient. Once I build the micro forecasts and configure my scenarios, I get instant visibility into the impact of a sales campaign, new hire, etc. I was able to determine the best plan forward based on analyzing various scenarios or "what ifs." The initial setup was quite easy.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I'm still in the process of learning how to take advantage of its capabilities.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom for financial modeling, creating micro forecasts, and analyzing scenarios to find the best plan. It makes projections efficient and provides instant visibility on impacts like sales campaigns or hires.

  ### 22. Intuitive, Clear Reports with Super-Speedy Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah V. | Deputy Bursar, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

It is intuitive and produces clear reports. Support is super-speedy and very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I'd love to be able to import companies with divisions using Excel. I'd also like termly forecasting and reporting as we're a school. These aren't dislikes, but on my wish list.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

3-way forecasting and professional reporting.

  ### 23. Intuitive Reporting with Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan G.

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I really like how intuitive Fathom is as a reporting platform. It automates our month-end close and provides customized and detailed reports, which helps our clients understand their business operations better. The customer support is amazing, with agents responding in about ten minutes with detailed, thoughtful answers. I also highly recommend the customer service. The customization of the reports is great, and I find Fathom quite user-friendly. The value I'm receiving is very high compared to what we were spending with Jirav for the same functionality. I also really like the KPIs.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I don't think Fathom handles and forecasts accruals very well. It struggles with things like revenue recognition and prepaid expenses — basically anything that needs to be accrued over time. It just doesn't do a great job with these. We often need to use some workarounds to get it to work, and while the support team has helped us find solutions, they're not always ideal.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fathom is an intuitive reporting platform that automates our month-end close and provides clients with customized, detailed reports for better business understanding periodically.

  ### 24. Clean Interface with Valuable KPI Insights, Needs Better Error Handling

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I use Fathom for internal reporting to management, and I really appreciate how it relays financial information in a clean and easily digestible way.
