For me the visual skills map is the standout feature. It's genuinely impressive and unlike anything I've seen in other HR tools. The ability to map employee competencies, set competency(mastery) levels by role, and see how individuals measure up against any job position in the organisation addresses a real gap in workforce management and planning.
The three-tier rating system (self, supervisor and expert) adds real credibility to the data. Rather than relying on self-scores managers can also review skills and competencies, also showing any gaps in individual vs. management perspectives. The certificate management section is also excellent - clean, easy to action, and clear visibility of what's expiring and when.
For anyone who has worked in a large or multi-site organisation, the internal succession planning and mobility potential is significant. Being able to run a report showing which employees are the best fit for a vacant role (clearly ranked by percentage) could meaningfully reduce the time and cost of recruitment from the internal pool of applicants. The platform's biggest challenge is the gap between data depth and usability. In several sections the interface feels like it reflects a developer's perspective rather than an HR professional's workflow, which at times made it difficult to extract actionable insights quickly.
The Report Builder is powerful but requires more configuration knowledge than most HR users will have without guidance. It took several attempts to produce a readable result, and some common use cases (like excluding employees already in a role when searching for internal candidates) aren't currently supported.
Finally, the Learning Hub currently only supports URL-based content, which means SCORM files (which is the industry standard format for e-learning) can't be uploaded. This would require a separate LMS running alongside SkillPanel for any organisation with existing training content. Bewertung gesammelt von und auf G2.com gehostet.
