A natural, intuitive and satisfying digital art experience

My favourite aspects of this program are the intuitive interface and the natural feel of the toolset. The interface is very clean and minimal, allowing you to focus on your canvas without having to look too hard for anything. Panning, scrolling and rotating can be achieved easily with shortcuts or using a circular widget, everything feels snappy and responsive. While having a limited variety of tools, Artrage makes up for this with a very natural experience with each tool. The physics of paint and watercolour tools is particularly satisfying, as is squeezing out tubes of paint and smearing them with a palette knife. My favourite tool is the pen tool which can be used to achieve very controlled linework using customisable smoothing and tapering options.

Simplicity. You only have the tools you want/need and they do a good job of replicating the look and grit of traditional media. It's like the minimalism of Autodesk Sketchbook Pro with the look of Corel Painter.

Simple, easy to use with a traditional flare

ArtRage is simple and easy to use, it's not overly complex but the tools it has are powerful. What I love most is that it can bring a traditional feel to digital art which has a tendency to look too smooth and plastic. I'm particularly fond of the oil paint brush, you can choose the loading of your paintbrush, it's transparency and how it will blend with paint already on the canvas. It blends beautifully and very realistically. I tend to use ArtRage for building textured and realistic oil backgrounds which I then bring into my photoshop document and it does this very well with a straight forward export function that exports layers.
