As an engineer at Festo, my workflow requires constant toggling between internal PLM systems, vendor portals, and web-based configuration tools like the "Festo Automation Suite".
What sets Edge apart in 2026 is its 'Edge for Business' separation. It keeps my industrial documentation and internal SCADA web-interfaces strictly partitioned from my general browsing. The "Multi-tab Reasoning" in Copilot is a game-changer for technical research; I can open 15 different PDF datasheets for sensors and ask Edge to generate a comparison table of their IP ratings and response times instantly. Additionally, the native "IE Mode" is still a necessity for accessing legacy firmware on older PLC web-servers that haven't been updated to modern standards, saving me from maintaining multiple insecure browsers." The 'New Tab' experience remains cluttered by default with consumer-facing news (MSN), which feels unprofessional in a high-precision engineering environment. While IT can manage this via Group Policy, the out-of-the-box experience is distracting. Also, the "Sidebar" can feel 'bloated' with shopping and gaming tools that have zero utility for industrial automation tasks. I’d prefer a 'Developer/Engineer' profile preset that strips these away automatically." Análise coletada por e hospedada no G2.com.
