# Who gets more value from an AI sales assistant, SDRs or account executives?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Something I keep coming back to while researching this space for a revenue team: who gets more value from an AI sales assistant, SDRs or account executives? The tools get marketed to "sales teams" as one audience, but the jobs are different enough that the answer probably isn't the same for both. SDR work is repetitive and high-volume, which is where automation shines. AE work is fewer, longer, more complex deals, where the value is more about recall and preparation. Looking at the <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/ai-sales-assistant">AI Sales Assistant category on G2</a>, the products themselves seem to split along that line.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Leaning SDR:</p><ol>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/salesloft/reviews"><strong>Salesloft</strong></a>. Built around cadence volume and prioritizing who to contact next, which is the SDR's whole day. Best for prospecting throughput.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/gtm-workspace-powered-by-zoominfo/reviews"><strong>GTM Workspace - Powered by ZoomInfo</strong></a>. Removes the list-building and research work that eats into SDR selling time. Best for top-of-funnel research.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/aircall/reviews"><strong>Aircall</strong></a>. Auto-transcribes and summarizes calls so reps making dozens a day aren't writing notes. Best for phone-heavy prospecting.</li>
</ol><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Leaning AE:</p><ol>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/seismic-enablement-cloud/reviews"><strong>Seismic Enablement Cloud</strong></a>. Surfaces the right content and prep material for a specific deal stage and buyer. Best for complex, multi-stakeholder deals.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/aviso/reviews"><strong>Aviso</strong></a>. Forecasting and deal-risk signals aimed at people carrying a number, not people booking meetings. Best for pipeline and forecast accuracy.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/demandbase-one/reviews"><strong>Demandbase One</strong></a>. Account intelligence that tells an AE what's happening across a buying committee mid-cycle. Best for account-based selling.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/6sense-revenue-marketing/reviews"><strong>6sense Revenue Marketing</strong></a>. Intent data that both roles use, though AEs tend to get more from it for expansion and timing. Best for shared marketing and sales use.</li>
</ol><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">My tentative read, going through this for the team, is that SDRs get more measurable value quickly, since the work is repetitive enough to automate, while AEs get value that's real but harder to prove on a dashboard. Open to being argued out of that.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">For anyone who's rolled an AI assistant out to both roles, who actually kept using it after the first month? And did one group quietly abandon it?</p>

I’d separate “more value” from “easier value to measure.” SDR gains show up quickly in activity metrics like research time saved, calls completed, and meetings booked. For AEs, I’d look at whether the assistant improves deal progression: less prep time, fewer missed follow-ups, and earlier visibility into stalled deals. My guess is adoption tells the better story here. If AEs keep reaching for it on complex deals after the novelty wears off, the value is probably there even if it’s harder to attach to one dashboard metric.
