We use Workiva to allow multiple people to work on decks all at once and set up a common template. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** Some of the formatting could be improved to work more easily. Employees of Workiva as customer success managers and engineers really do a great job. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** There are opportunities for this to be a great tool. The issue is you get a different experience from each consulting company you 'have' to partner with and sometimes within the same consulting group. There is not a user group to bounce ideas for RCM and Audit. Some features have not matured yet for ease of use and I do not think they have people who have performed the business roles employed at Workiva. They do not understand the workflow from a business perspective. Once you are done with the required use of a consultant the employees of Workiva will get the job done, but it seems like rework. You have to define your own best practices, which is hard if you have not performed the role in the past, like RCSAs. **What problems is Workiva solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a risk and control environment for ERM and a platform to perform risk and control self-assessments and issues management. Right now it does the job but out of the box it does not have a good work flow and you do not know there are other options until you connect with other customers. I think we can grow into it, but I am still peeling the onion on what it can do. We are able to relate specific granular operating metrics and the non financials directly to our consolidated financials with which is an enormous use when it comes to investor presentation. I also love the flexibility of the system to change our core financial messages easily and fast to various audiences. A custom board report can now be created in a few minutes rather than a public announcement. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** The document formatting can also involve a lot of manual work even though this is not expected when a table or a chart is to be embedded which is another source. I would also like to have a more comprehensive reallocation feature of internal tasks as it is directly within a section of a report. One could improve global search by making it more granular to search a particular data points across projects. **What problems is Workiva solving and how is that benefiting you?** Making investor updates was a mad dash of exporting to individual excel sheets followed by copying and pasting numbers back into PowerPoint. Any last minute amendment in a financial figure would be a horrifying duty of digging through a number of files producing inconsistencies most times. Our investor decks are now connected with our underlying data in Workiva and there is no need of separating data. When it comes down to meeting our tight external reporting deadlines, it becomes very irritating to have to deal with glitches or bugs that affect performance. Example of these include: Link capabilities randomly not working (can't paste from a source link to a destination in another section), formatting issues (can't push footnotes to bottom of page, random blue highlights in document, spacing issues), issues with the task process, for example, the status of a task is still pending approval, despite the approver already approving. Exporting issues, limited capabilities to export the spreadsheet type documents landscape format, exporting reports with hidden rows. I really like its linking features between the Excel and Word files, its ease of use and implementation, and how easily it is to upload external workpapers into Workiva as well as download existing Workiva files locally. Workiva is easy to pick up and use - I only need to do one or two trainings with my team in order for everyone else to also be able to pick it up. I also appreciate the folks at Workiva being readily available to hop on a call to troubleshoot things with us if we have any questions. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** 1) It can be hard to get real help in the Live Chat or call function—emails to the relationship managers seem to be the best bet for customer support. 2) Workiva is sometimes pretty slow, though I understand the complexity of integrating Excel and Word. 3) The XBRL linking can be very confusing - I often don't understand what the errors mean in the validation work. 4) I wish Workiva had a tie-out / footing for when numbers are rounded. Sometimes after displaying in thousands (or higher, like millions), the numbers don't tend to foot or tie out. **What problems is Workiva solving and how is that benefiting you?** Workiva solves the problem of bridging the behind-the-scene working in Excel form to the Word-form financial statements that are to be presented to financial statement users. Additionally, it solves the problem of knowing how to publish filing to the SEC site and the associated quirks (XBRL, etc.).
