**Reviewed by:** Joy Emmanuelle G. | Customer service, Transportation/Trucking/Railroad, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Turo?**

What I like best about Turo is the convenience and variety it offers. I can easily find unique and affordable cars that suit our specific needs—whether it’s a sporty ride for a weekend trip or a practical car for everyday use. Plus, the peer-to-peer model often makes the experience more personal and flexible compared to traditional rentals.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

None so far I really love Turo it so very inconvenient for me Customer support are very helpful the platform and app is easy to use

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo solves the problem of limited and often expensive car rental options by connecting everyday car owners with people who need a vehicle.

Access to unique cars that might not be available at big rental companies.
More convenient pick-up and drop-off locations, sometimes even right in your neighborhood.
Flexible rental periods—from a few hours to several weeks.
Often more affordable rates with the chance to choose exactly the car that fits your needs.

  ### 2. Worst Customer Service I've Ever Experienced

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** colby C. | Sr. Enterprise Customer Success Manager, Team Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Turo?**

The application is easy to use. Everything is smooth until you need to interact with somebody

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

-The customer service/support at Turo has been an on going nightmare for me.
After an unsafe vehicle was rented to me and broke down mid trip, Turo directed me to put the car on a tow truck and I'll have a replacement within 2 hours maximum. I was left in remote area in AZ with no replacement car and no cares from the support team. I was directed by their team to find a 3rd party rental, get myself home then submit for reimbursement. I paid over double with the 3rd party to get home what I originally paid with Turo.
Here I am a month later still getting zero cares and zero reimbursement from their support team. Their internal teams don't seem to communicate with each other, I'm told my case will be "escalated" and I'll be contacted back but nobody ever calls. My cases are continuously closed out and it's impossible to speak to a manager.
-The cost of my original rental was refunded. Though I paid double that to get home via 3rd party and was promised reimbursement.
-Despite me doing exactly as I was directed with going through 3rd party, submitting my expenses and having a screenshot guarantee from support promising reimbursement, I'm left with nothing.
-Over 5 hours spent on the phone with support, repeating my story over and over, even being hung-up on and support team openly saying "my other colleague lied to".
-I work in customer support myself, I've dealt with escalations on a daily basis and I'm blown away the lack of empathy and ethics Turo has shown.
-Hoping this review will give others some insight into what support is like here and catch the attention of somebody at Turo who can make this situation right for me.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of car rental. This benefited me as the vehicle was dropped off at my home and much cheaper than companies like Enterprise.
This comes at it's own cost as there is no way to know if the host of your rental has properly prepped the car and the lack of support/resources if/when the car has an issue.

  ### 3. 🚨 Turo’s support is unreliable and dismisses serious customer concerns.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Turo?**

The concept of Turo is great—being able to rent cars directly from individuals can be more convenient and flexible than traditional rental agencies. The platform itself is easy to use, and booking a car is straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

Unfortunately, Turo’s customer support is terrible and does not take customer concerns seriously. I had an untrustworthy host who lied to an officer to avoid a ticket, overcharged me for fuel, and displayed dishonest behavior throughout the rental. I reported these issues to Turo during my trip, expecting them to take action. Instead, they ignored my concerns, allowed the host to continue renting, and later deleted my 1-star review, preventing future renters from seeing my warning.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While Turo offers an alternative to traditional rentals, its lack of accountability for bad hosts makes the platform risky. If they refuse to listen to valid reports and allow dishonest hosts to keep renting, it compromises the safety of all users. I would not recommend Turo until they improve their support and transparency.

While Turo offers flexibility, some users dislike the variable condition of rented cars, potential cleanliness or maintenance issues, and less convenient pick-up/drop-off processes. Limited coverage in certain locations is also a concern for some users. Despite these drawbacks, Turo remains popular among those who value its unique approach to car rentals.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo solves my problem of inflexible car rentals. It provides a diverse range of vehicles, giving me a more personalized and flexible experience compared to traditional services. It addresses the need for a dynamic approach to car rentals, allowing me to choose the perfect vehicle for each journey.

  ### 8. Confession of a manager from a major rental brand.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle W. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Turo?**

I spent many years managing for a major rental brand as apps became our contemporary way of life. Shortly before leaving that company, I started renting my personal car on the platform. The best thing as both a guest and host is that it is how fluid the passive income stream is once you effectively setup your process.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

For better and sometimes worse, Turo has made a lot of changes over the last 5 years. My perspective is that the biggest detriment has been their poor communication as they implement changes. This bogs down their customer service and is a overall bad look on the brand. Continously creating value in a system where there are a lot of moving parts is hard. This is precisely why it is critical to overcommunicate changes with teams, hosts, and guests far before they are rolled out.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo is helping me create passive income with my assets.

  ### 11. Rented a race car on vacation for the cheapest price ever!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Turo?**

I love how turo gives you the option for which type of vehicle you can drive, down to the make and model. I was fixated on renting out a corvette on my trip out in Vegas. Before I went to Vegas, I searched for 3.5 weeks, almost a month before the trip and could not find any places renting the type of vehicle that I wanted. I found Turo and I was able to have the exact car I wanted, ready for me the day I got there. The pick up and drop off process is simple, there are no hidden fees, the whole experience was exactly how Turo presented it whch is very rarefor most companies these days.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

The car that I rented did seem to drive a little weird, like the rotars or brake pads may have been old or damaged. It does not seem like Turo has much of a good policy/protocol for maintaing vehicles that are being rented out.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Renting vehicles on the fly when using a regular rental company is just inconvienent. Also finding specific cars that I want to drive, and not just whatever ther rental company decides to put me in.

  ### 12. Smooth user experience and platform support, with a few minor gaps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Turo?**

Turo got me through a period where I needed an easy way to get car rentals, but didn't want to go through a traditional rental agency. I used the app pretty often on several trips to various cities. I found Turo's web and mobile apps intuitive every time, and my interactions with hosts were always positive. First, let's start with Turo's interface. It's easy to find options for the dates, price ranges, and locations you're looking for. The reservation process is relatively smooth, and as long as you pick the right vehicles and hosts, chances are good that you'll have a pleasant experience. Hosts are communicative and there are ways to get support from the platform if you're having any issues, even to get refunds or reimbursements where necessary. Overall, I find Turo easy to implement and integrate into my travel and transport operations, transparent with pricing, and timely and accountable with customer communication.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

One of the challenging things about Turo involves taking and submitting photos of the vehicle you're renting in the app. When you check in and out, you'll need to upload several photos through the mobile app. However, sometimes you'll be in an area where you can't get a cellular connection, such as the parking lot of a large airport. In such cases, check-in becomes a big hassle and you sometimes have to walk on foot to strange or remote locations until you can do this. So the software-hardware integration aspect of the process sometimes falls short in a way that substantially interferes with the check-in process. Turo's done an excellent job so far, but paying attention to the places where the experience breaks down for users will make the platform even better.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo helps people rent cars in locations where other rentals may not be available. It also provides the ability to rent specific cars and at price points that are not always available through traditional car rental agencies.

  ### 13. Is Turo The Best Option For Car Rental?

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert R. | Business Consultant and Speaker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Turo?**

Turo offers the largest selection of cars via 3rd party private car rentals/ vendors than traditional car rental agencies. Many of the vendors will bring the car to your location saving you time, money, and the stress of locating the rental agency, especially in an unfamiliar town or needing transportation to get rental transportation. Car rental pricing is competitive to rental agencies as you have a larger selection of vendors to choose from and can compare vehicle types.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

The 3 biggest dislikes about Turo are-

1. Some vendors fail to properly maintain their vehicles by getting needed maintenance and place renters at risk.

2. Damages to the car- mechanical, physical, or even environmental (smoke, smells) are easily blamed on the renter as many vendors are manipulating Turo's damage claims to get their cars fixed or to make extra money.

3. Most cars have minimum rental days so you are extremely limited with vehicle selections if you just need the car for one or two days.

The Turo business model is interesting but renters beware. Unscrupulous vendors can end up costing you much more than you bargained for.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo solve solves numerous challenges for car renters

1. Variety of cars
2. Convenience of cars being delivered to you by some vendors
3. They technically never run out of cars as there tend to be more cars than renters in most locations.
4. You get to test drive numerous makes and models of cars if you intend to test one before you buy one.
5. You get to support a small business owner/ person who is hopefully turning a profit to improve their lives.

  ### 14. Ease of Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip J. | Account Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Turo?**

In today's world, bigger corporations and government entities are trying to control everybody through everything they can. Turo retains an open platform for individuals to still exercise their rights in a free enterprise economy to buy, sell, trade, share, what they have. The Turo app empowers both the customer and the host to go out there and get things done without a lot of hassle.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

Like any of the newer app-based sharing systems, it can be a little weird just borrowing someone else's car. There are so many things that could be mis-construed. Like borrowing someone's house... I think a little anxiety is expected while we become more accustomed to this type of service.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo solves the issue of tracking down a car, specific to my needs, without the hassle of waiting on an Uber, Lyft, Taxi, or some other car rental agency that is in some far off location that I have to take a bus to and hope that they're open.

  ### 15. Easiest car share service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Turo?**

Ease of use and price is much cheaper than renting from a rental car company.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

You are taking a risk with someone elses car.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing a cheaper alternative to renting a car.

  ### 16. Bad experience

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Turo?**

You can chose the specific car, this is much better then rental cars.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

1. Most of the renters will not let you cross a state border in the US. They do not write it clearly, so you need to guess. I had to rebook my trip 3 times till I started to ask apfront. Finally booked a day before- obviously for a higher rate.
2. Got a 6 year old car for the price of a new one
3. If I would book upfront- it would be so much cheaper in the rental agencies
4. Before I returned the car, I asked if I need to clean. The owner said no. Then he filed a complaint that my car was not clean enough and got extra $150 (this is for 1 month of rent period)
I opened a dispute- and they agreed with him as he has many cars, even though it was not what their terms and conditions said.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

getting around

  ### 18. Turo made it easy for me to book a Tesla for a roadtrip

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Turo?**

Last fall, all of the rental car companies were out of cars in Phoenix during my travel dates. It was essential to get a car to drive 2+ hrs to my destination, and thanks to Turo, I was able to rent a car for the trip! I was also considering whether or not I wanted a Tesla, and I got to rent one through Turo for my roadtrip to see how I liked it. It was a huge success!

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

The only downside to using Turo is that it seemed like the cost was significantly higher than what it usually would be to rent a car. Usually we use a Costco membership to get great deals on rental vehicles.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo solved the problem of making cars available for rental when there literally were none that we could get at the airport. Not only that, but I got to try a Tesla for a roadtrip to confirm that I wanted to buy one.

  ### 19. Renting a car has never been easier

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Turo?**

It's easy to find cars that you want to have a chance to drive for cheap! It's good for car enthusiasts

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

The driver eligibility is not very thorough. The requirements do not seem thatt extensive

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not really positive how the insurance part works

  ### 20. As an independent contractor, I would drive with Turo over any other rental company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Avia K. | Freelance Graphic Designer for Film & TV, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Turo?**

I've used Turo for both personal and business needs, and in both cases, any dollar I can save is a dollar that goes back into my pocket. I've found that Turo rentals are almost always cheaper than other car rental businesses, and I have a wider selection of cars to choose between. I like being able to pick exactly what car to drive. In the city, the more compact the car is the better parking spaces I find. And on longer trips, the more fuel-efficient the car is the more I can save on gas. I've never had a negative experience with an owner or getting a bad driver review at the end of a trip. I also like having the choice between being picked up at the airport for a small fee, or taking public transport to meet them the car owner closer to home. I've even had car owners offer free or paid add-ons like coolers and umbrellas, things you wouldn't normally fly with but would be useful for your time spent in the are. Also, I feel safer (traveling alone as a woman) in a car that looks more à propos to the area instead of in an obvious rental car. And when I'm traveling with a partner, I like that we can both apply as "drivers" for the same trip.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

The picture-taking process in the app is a bit clunky. Since you have to do it twice during your trip, that can become annoying. I would also like it if all of the add-on prices and fees were shown more clearly in search results so I could compare them more efficiently. Turo will not let you be a driver if you don't have a credit history. There are also a lot of restrictions and extra fees for drivers ages 18–25, even if they have another driver age 26+ with them.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo is a smooth ride for younger drivers who are more familiar with the Airbnb economy than they are with business rental cars. I love the flexibility and friendliness that comes with renting from a local person instead of a nationwide chain. And for independent contractors who are not working for a big company that's too worried about liability, insurance and fees are more thoughtful add-ons than they are required. The price is the bottom line of why I like to drive with Turo for my business and personal travel.

  ### 21. Most affordable way to rent a car online

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Turo?**

Turo is an affordable option to rent a car while on vacation.

**What do you dislike about Turo?**

Turo may not be the best option for business travel if you're short on time. Since you're not picking up from a counter, you may need to factor in some extra time for the owner to bring the car to you, drop them off at their house, or you may need to take public transportation to get to a nearby park-and-ride. Factor in some extra time during your trip for getting the car, documenting the condition, and cleaning the car before you return it.

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turo is the most affordable way to rent a car. It's nice to have an affordable option for getting around without relying on public transportation, which is nice during business travel.

  ### 22. Get the super special car

**What problems is Turo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting exactly the vehicle I'm looking for
