What do you like best about think-cell?

I have used think-cell in an "in-house" strategy role (1-2 years) and currently in a consulting role (approx. 3 years.) The thing that think-cell does best is assisting with making compelling and insightful visualizations with not much hassle. think-cell's charts are also very visually distinctive and usually help make your work stand out, especially if sharing with external audiences. The UI of think-cell can take some getting used to - it is relatively unique (e.g., the "wheel" of options that appears when you right click) and so it's important to read some of the documentation and check out the videos on the think-cell website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As a consultant, think-cell helps me visualize data quickly - to not just extract insights but to also show them in a compelling way for external audiences. "It's a very useful tool for working and integrating data into Powerpoint and excel"

What do you like best about think-cell?

I use it for all my deck preparation and it helps me save a lot of time wherever the formats are fixed for my presentation as it can be integrated with excel so it does allow me to refresh my data in a seconds time and just work on excel. What do you like best about think-cell?

What I like best about think-cell is how much time it saves me when creating charts in PowerPoint. I can build complex visuals like waterfalls, Gantt charts, and Mekko diagrams in minutes, and they look polished without needing manual formatting. The integration with Excel is especially helpful. When my data updates, the charts update automatically, which keeps everything consistent and reduces errors. What do you dislike about think-cell?

What I dislike about think-cell is that it takes a little time to get used to. The interface isn’t always intuitive at first, and I had to go through a few tutorials before I felt confident using all the features. Also, it is a bit slow sometimes and freezes when I am making updates to graphs. And since it’s optimized for Windows, it’s not ideal for cross-platform work. think-cell is solving a major pain point in my workflow: the time-consuming and often tedious process of creating high-quality, data-driven presentations. Before using think-cell, I’d spend hours manually formatting charts in PowerPoint, adjusting labels, aligning visuals, and ensuring consistency across slides. Now, with think-cell’s seamless integration into PowerPoint and Excel, I can generate over 40 chart types, including waterfalls, Gantt charts, and Mekko diagrams, in just minutes.

The automation features are a game-changer. Charts dynamically update when the underlying Excel data changes, which means I don’t have to rebuild visuals every time a dataset is refreshed. This is especially helpful when preparing materials for meetings, internal workgroup updates, or training sessions like the ones I’ve coordinated for Power BI and think-cell itself.

The tool also supports my broader goals around operational efficiency and visual clarity. It helps me communicate complex data stories more effectively, whether I’m presenting to leadership or collaborating with cross-functional teams. And because think-cell is part of our Department’s approved toolkit, I’ve been able to support others in activating licenses, accessing training resources, and integrating it into their workflows.

I heavily use the Gantt charting capability. I lead and deliver Projects and Programs. I can set up complex timelines. Because Think-cell anchors activities to dates or other activities I can simply drag, drop, copy, extend activities. The chart automatically repositions all other activities to maintain their position as per your original set up. - Very user-friendly and intuitive, even for people who don’t use it often.

- A real time-saver compared to building charts manually in PowerPoint or Excel

- Works seamlessly within PowerPoint and Excel, so there’s no need for extra tools.

- Automates a lot of the tedious work like aligning, labeling, and formatting.

- Easy to switch between chart types without starting over.

- Includes helpful features such as CAGR calculations, automatic totals, Gantt charts, and Excel linking.

What do you dislike about think-cell?

- Sometimes there are limitations in formatting flexibility. While think-cell covers the vast majority of charting needs and produces very professional-looking results, it doesn’t always allow you to implement highly specific design requests. For example, if you want to adjust unusual color gradients, add custom shapes inside charts, or apply very tailored formatting styles, you may still need to do manual fine-tuning in PowerPoint after creating the chart in think-cell.

- Because Thinkcell is a PowerPoint add-in, collaborators who don’t have it installed can make changes outside of Thinkcell. While there is a feature to transfer these changes back into Thinkcell, discovering and reconciling them can interrupt the workflow Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Thinkcell solves the problem of creating (complex) charts quickly and accurately in PowerPoint. Instead of manually adjusting bars, lines, or elements, I can input data and have the chart generated automatically, saving a lot of time and reducing errors. What do you like best about think-cell?

I find think-cell extremely easy to use, especially for creating charts on slides, which eliminates much of the hassle. Its ability to save time with automatic updates and linkages, particularly with Excel, significantly boosts my efficiency in making updates and changes. The integration with MS PowerPoint and Excel is seamless, which supports my workflow. The ease of use and active functionality are the biggest selling points for me. What do you like best about think-cell?

I love the easy ability to copy/paste from Excel into the think-cell interface, and the ability to write formulas directly into think-cell. The graphics are more attractive and user-friendly than the built-in Microsoft graphs, and I appreciate the ability to easily switch chart types, colors, and other visuals. Very minor things - sometimes I struggle to change visual characteristics for similar boxes; e.g., if I want to change the font size for every segment label I need to select them all manually.
