I recently had my Twillio account hacked and yea that is an entriely different story. I heard of Telnyx since they first stared but never had a reason to switch unti now. They have a very beautiful platform that is great on the eyes, very great documentation and the customer support gets to you in a timely manner. Even though I have oly had a few issues, they were all resolved very fast to help me get started. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** Right now i do not have any complaints. This is super helpful for making sure our backup modems for phone systems work. Once the sim cards arived it was super easy to add them to my accound and activeate them. While we don't use them too much, when we need them they are beyond handy! **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** The data pricing is a little high in my opinion. I have converted several companies to them as well. Thier support is unmatched, the setup is very user friently, and the service is incredible. I initially moved all of my number from Vonage to Telnyx, and use 3CX on premis as the PBX. Even though they are no longer listed as a prefered SIP provider, they are still better than anyone else I have used. The user implementation was almost seamless. For the first time, our users are finally able to rely on thier business numbers full time, and use them all of the time. When I heard about the IOt offering, I hopped right on it because of the flexibility. Will be impementing more. I cant reccomend them enough. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** I was an early adopter, so the documentation at that time wasnt as strong as it is now. At that time, it took a bit to implement, but once i understood, we handled it all in house. There is a team of real people with significant tehcnical expertise who collectively reply within 12 hours, and always with a well thought through solution. All the customer service reps have proper access to my account and are authorised to actually make changes, unlike bots or outsourced customer service I have encountered with other services. The products are good and pretty easy to use. I have used the international IoT sims in UK and Ghana with reliable service in each. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** There is a lot of security. I know this is probably necessary for big users, but I am working with tens of devices so it seems a bit uneccesary. Shipping can be challenging, but this is not really the fault of Telnyx. I tried to have sims shipped to Accra, Ghana, but they only arrived after three attempts. To be fair to Telynx, they kept trying and didn't charge me for the replacements. **What problems is Telnyx IoT solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use the sims to connect sensors to the internet to provide real-time water level and rainfall data which we use for early warning systems, e.g., for flooding. We have done this in UK and Ghana. We send the data direct to ThingsBoard, which we then embed in websites. The sims are super easy to use, and device management is also easy. ### 6. Also, I'd love to see Telnyx add support for WiFi calling. Of course Telnyx does have great support for VoIP, but Telnyx does not currently support traditional Wi-Fi calling. This limitation can be a drawback for businesses that operate in areas with weak cellular coverage or rely heavily on Wi-Fi networks to maintain communication. I use Telnyx for GPS tracking for my dog. I pay a $2/month subscription and then literally pennies for the data usage. Also, the detailed portal is a plus as it provides several different reports such as Usage, Billing, and pricing matrixes. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** One thing I disliked is the set up process of the SIM card. The instructions were not very clear and even when I spoke with an agent, we couldn't get it set up. It took awhile, but since then it works well. One more thing, and I'm not sure if it's the SIM card or the GPS device I have, but the app supporting the tracker has a delay in updating at times. Not massive contracts and their pricing scales the more data/sim cards you use. I can easily enable/disable sim cards. Fast shipping on sim cards and htey now support esims. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** The only thing I can think of is other providers do provide better pricing for much larger contracts, but I do see they offer contracts now and I have not expored that option yet, nice to know they have it. **What problems is Telnyx IoT solving and how is that benefiting you?** Currently using this for a variety of applications from pool pump/hot tub controllers, to remote environmental monitors, and ADS-B receivers. The carrier flexability really lets us get into more places that may be lacking coverage from a particular carrier. ### 12. Since I switched a few years back, I haven't experienced any downtime. Also, you just can't beat the price. I own my own business and set up my FreePBX phone server. Telynx routes all of the calls to my business phone server. It's very inexpensive and I just can't get over the savings with using Telynx. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** I wish Telynx would provide more tutorial videos on how to set up their service. They have technicians on hand but, I think how to videos would be much better for small business owners such as myself. **What problems is Telnyx IoT solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tech support can be spotty at times with Telnyx. I had some issues in the past and it took quite a bit of time to get in touch with a technician. The only way that I was able to set up my service with Telynx was through one of their support technicians. He was kind of enough to set up my FreePBX on a zoom call. I was really at the end of my rope after the other company that I had worked with VOIP service had been hacked. It was a nightmare as their were no phones for my business for several days. I will always be grateful for Telynx kindness to help me with the transition to their service. ### 13. The pricing is incredibly inexpensive, allowing us to sell SIM services with a markup. This adds a revenue stream to our company. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** I wish I could create arbitrary fields to be associated with each SIM card I register. Tags and SIM groups don't work well when exporting data for billing. I have to manually update our billing system because I can't get a CSV with the information I need to automate it. **What problems is Telnyx IoT solving and how is that benefiting you?** We can reduce the cost of cell service provided to our customers, don't have to worry about the network provider reliability across the US -- it works almost everywhere. Why would I buy an Apriva (AT&T) SIM with a monthly charge of $15 to transfer around 10MB of data per month? With Telnyx, the total cost is pennies abvet $2. ### 14. Support has been great the times that I've had to use them. I wish there were a few more options on the paltform for me to troubleshoot the SIM cards when issues come up. **What problems is Telnyx IoT solving and how is that benefiting you?** With other SIM data access providers I would struggle getting SIM cards shipped and delivered to me. With the Telnyx platform this has bene easy. They have helped me solve shipping issues and even overnighted some SIM cards at no cost to me when correcting an incorrect address issue I had on one of my SIM deliveries. This has simplified logistics for us by reducing time frames for device deployment and by allowing us to not store as much inventory on hand. ### 20. We host our own FreePBS server on a dedicated fiber internet connection. Telnyx stood out with a quick, no money down instant availibity phone number that allowed me to roll out the FreePBX installation in just a few hours and have a pretty full featured Business Class phone system for very little out initial of pocket expense. The Telnyx support staff were pretty great helping us when we hit snags and were able to port our Google Voice and MagicJack numbers over to their system pretty efortlessly. We were able to add numbers as our needs grew with Telnyx's number search, narrowing down the area code and even prefix to ensure that the number we chose close matched out actual geographical location. Something other providers either didn't do, or charged a fee to do. Since Telnyx is a VOIP provider their Wireless SIM data cards can be a bit pricey compared to the big Cell providers, but the SIM cards through Telnyx are great for handy back SIMs for light usage. Shipping and provisioning of the SIM is pretty quick too, usually about 5 days from the time your order to provisioning. In short, the overall cost of running a "roll your own" PBX alongside Telnx is a pretty good alterntive to the other more "popular" VOIP providers out there fitting small and large budgets alike. **What do you dislike about Telnyx IoT?** We did have one big issue last year. There was a billing mistake that we didn't catch. I had though I made a configurtion error in the FreePBX setup, but when I logged in to Telnyx I saw that my account was in the negative. since we had jsut paid our bill this was unusuall. After a few emails, phone calls and an escaltion it was determined that Telnyx had indeed made an error and credited back the charge and cost for our downtime. It was a small amount and took a couple off weeks, but for a micro-business it really didn't hurt. That was the only real "bad" exerience. Just cutrting through the "red-tape" and low level tech support to prove that it was a Telnyx error too more time than it should have. But in the end, Telnyx made good on the error and all was well. The only other issue is the documentation wiki's can be pretty daunting and not for the faint of heart. Though armed with those documents, some decent YouTube videos and a few Discord channels and the usually quick response from tech support most issues are easy to solve. **What problems is Telnyx IoT solving and how is that benefiting you?** Small Business VOIP communitcation, Limited 4G SIM data.
