## About Tag Inspector
Tag Inspector is a website privacy auditing and data governance platform that helps enterprise marketing, analytics, and privacy teams identify, monitor, and remediate third-party tag and cookie compliance risks across their web properties. Modern enterprise websites often run hundreds of third-party tracking technologies across thousands of pages, many added over time without a clear record of what data they collect or whether they respect user consent choices. Without continuous auditing, this creates real exposure to regulatory penalties, consumer trust erosion, and unauthorized data sharing. Tag Inspector provides the visibility and documentation organizations need to understand what is happening on their websites, verify that consent controls are working as intended, and maintain a defensible compliance posture over time. The platform serves data protection officers, privacy counsel, marketing operations teams, and analytics governance leads, particularly at organizations subject to GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, and other regional privacy frameworks. It is well suited to enterprises managing large or multi-brand website portfolios where consistent, scalable oversight across properties is a core requirement. Core capabilities include automated tag and cookie inventory across an entire web property, consent compliance auditing across all critical user consent states, jurisdiction-specific consent policy documentation and management, PII monitoring for unauthorized collection of personally identifiable information in tags and page URLs, and violation remediation workflows that give cross-functional teams full context on what is broken, where it occurs, and how unauthorized activity is being introduced. Tag Inspector integrates with major consent management platforms and offers API access for organizations that need to pull audit data into their own reporting infrastructure or internal systems.

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

Right now, see what scans are in progress is confusing and the UI is a little clunky but we are greatly awaiting the new Orion UI, which will provide deeper analytics into our scans and provide more functionality around investigating delta changes in tracking technologies and triage work.

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Orion UI will provide deeper analytics into our scans and provide more functionality around investigating delta changes in tracking technologies and triage work which will help us better track our tracking technologies on websites and work towards creating better visibility is resolving unapproved tags/cookies

  ### 2. Effortless Compliance Monitoring and Tag Oversight with Tag Inspector

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Tag Inspector?**

The ability to quickly and effortlessly know if our site is out of compliance. Keeping a pulse on all the new tags and vendors marketing teams add to our site, along with their settings in the CMP, is a full time job. Without Tag Inspector I'd have to audit this manually which I'm not sure is even possible.

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

It can be difficult to onboard initially if you don't have existing guidelines from your legal team on what is approved and unapproved. It comes with some out of the box policies, but we didn't have any guidance from our internal team to know if these aligned with what we should be following.

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is allowing me to better manage changes on the site at scale, saving me time and energy

  ### 3. Great tool for compliance and tag identification

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew P. | Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Tag Inspector?**

Easy to use and ability to scan full website

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

Governance model allow only accept all cookies or deny all cookies, does not allow split (e.g. allow analytics, deny advertising) when testing compliance settings

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identifying all tags on site and where they are firing.
Managing Consent and governance to ensure we remain compliant with all geolocation rules.

  ### 4. Tag Inspector : does it really inspects?

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jatin B. | Application Development Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Tag Inspector?**

The scan summary graph is a fairly nice way to see how tags are loaded on the site. Making a free account was simple, and the site scan took a short while, which was good. You can export or share the data to email to a colleague. It provides you with certain page statistics (page size, time taken to scan the page, and how tags loaded on each particular page).

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

There wasn't enough information available in the free version to persuade me to subscribe to the commercial version. It was unfortunate that the export tool was unavailable because it would have been convenient to view the scans' appearance if I had wanted to share them with a colleague.

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For professionals in marketing, analytics, and governance, Tag Inspector is a platform for inspecting and monitoring tags. Tag Inspector offers unprecedented confidence that your data is full, compliant, and efficient throughout your business, especially if you manage a large site or multi-brand enterprise. This is due to its broad tag library and suite of auditing functionality.

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

A bit resource for a beginner to learn about the tool would be useful.

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The version control in tag inspector is useful in maintaining records.

  ### 6. Not worth it

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin G. | Analytics Strategist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Tag Inspector?**

The graph that shows how tags are loaded on the site on the scan overview is pretty cool. It was easy to set up a free account and the scan of the site only took a few minutes which was nice. It gives you some page stats (page size, how long it took to scan the page, and how tags loaded on the individual page) and you are able to share or export the data to send to a colleague. Unfortunately, you can't use the export feature from the free version.

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

The free version didn't offer a ton of data that would entice me to sign up for a paid version of it. The export feature not being available was a bummer because it would have been nice to see how that scans looked if I wanted to share them with a coworker. Also, not being able to test the realtime and governance sections of tag inspector in the free version makes it difficult to sign up for a package without seeing how the data will look for you. Even if there was more data and insight in the free version it'd be hard to pitch to my team that $14,950 a year for 30 website scans a month (360 scans for the year) that tag inspector is worth the price tag.

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was hoping it'd give me more insight into some of our websites but at least the free version didn't give me anything different than I could from google tag assistant, search console, or some free chrome extensions that show you site speed, SEO data, page details, etc. Unfortunately, it's not solving what I thought it would for us.

  ### 7. Excellent Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** betty o. | senior marketing manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Tag Inspector?**

Assessing the success of a website launch can be aided by the data collected following the social media notifications.

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

It would be too COSTLY for us to enhance our services. Since we are a nonprofit organization with limited resources, we CANNOT afford to do any upgrades.

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have the ability to examine this data and identify the problem or do any troubleshooting, so I use tag inspector to make sure the tags are correctly placed on the website.

  ### 8. Tag Inspect

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amber B. | Cashier, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Tag Inspector?**

It scans the whole piece of paper, clothing whatever it is that may contain a tag and it finds it for you

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

A lot of times it picks up tags that aren't tags that you are looking for they are just codes on the product

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tags are really hard to find sometime and there's a lot of social media now so sometimes the little QR codes are missed but that's where a lot of the products features will be

  ### 9. Great Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kendal E. | Media Planner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you dislike about Tag Inspector?**

Tag itself are very confusing to me so maybe if there are additional resources that could guide you.

**What problems is Tag Inspector solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I personally cannot look into data like this and figure out the issue or troubleshoot so using tag inspector allows me to verify tagging in the right locations on the site.
