The easiness of use of Synthesio is different from other tools on the market, anyone with or without experience in social intelligence and social listening can use this tool and its ready-to-use features. **What do you dislike about Synthesio?** I think the drawback of Synthesio is the interface: you have to click and click and click to activate some features (for example, how to select a period, set it again when you leave the widget, etc). It's not such a disturbing element in itself, it's just that it can make the smallest tasks a bit tedious. The colors are also quite dull and the shapes very "blocky", everything is in the form of spaced gray "brick". **What problems is Synthesio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Synthesio is in itself a very simple tool, with coherent functionalities. We understand what they are used for, what we can do with them and how to go further, when other tools are often complicated for not much. Synthesio can collect a couple years' worth of mentions for me to analyse. **What do you dislike about Synthesio?** Some of its prepackaged analyses: I prefer my own, thanks. But for those who haven't a clue what to do with the data, the prepackaged analyses offer useful insight right off the bat. **What problems is Synthesio solving and how is that benefiting you?** My work--as far as it relates to Synthesio--seeks to define the relation between corporate reputation and online mentions. I've used Synthesio to determine the strengths and weaknesses of social media types for several content themes. I did this by plotting the net positive sentiment against the difference in share of voice between my company and its foremost competitor. The results showed, for example, that questions of ethics are often of paramount importance in stakeholders’ minds. So greater transparency in contractual transactions would be something my company should pursue, since it shows how fair the company is and how good it is at keeping its promises. Most recently, I have used Synthesio to get a sense of how useful a particular social-network platform might be as a means to connect with key influencers. ### 6. This is a big plus. Possibility to sort mentions by interactions, engagement rate etc is also very helpful. **What do you dislike about Synthesio?** The system of setting queries for the dashboard is extremely complex, especially if we need to cover very broad scope and diversity of the topics we need to track on social media. The dashboard is not user friendly both from functionality and look & feel point of view. Too many features, overcomplicated and not straightforward to find what you need to find. The interface of the dashboard has been changed several times in one year, no proper communication / trainings on the changes. Every time I find by surpise that smth has been changed and I need to learn again how to use it and find info. The new system with Reports - when you need to build each time an individual report, widget by widget is really difficult and time consuming. Analytics should be connected directly with Listening part, so you could do you filtering and look for analytics directly. Instead of you need to build a report, where you need to create every widget, copy paste your query multiple time, adjust time period for every widget etc. If I need to make changes in the report, I have to change again widget by widget, as widgets are not connected between each other in one report. Overall simple analytics can take hours of your time. **What problems is Synthesio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it as a source of consumer insights and trends on diverse topics in food & beverages - consumer behaviour & attitudes, habits, taste preferences, ingredients, trends, products and brands in various product categories and countries. We found a way of working with the system to get the info we are looking for, but we needed to allocate dedicated people, who are trained and work directly with Synthesio dashboard, spend a lot of time to search, analyze and interpret the data for our stakeholders. We could not make a roll-out to the broader number of users due to complexity of the usage of the dashboard. ### 7. Flexible and client-centric set-up process and dashboards created bespoke to our needs. The bolt-on Profiler tool in particular is fantastic. **What do you dislike about Synthesio?** As with any social listening tool, the data universe is not perfect. Sometimes there is a bit of over-promise in terms of the level of sophisticated analysis a lay-person can really do using the self-service, vs what some paid for analytics from Synthesio or Ipsos teams would be able to deliver. Some of the features are launched while still glitchy. The automation is still not optimal. **Recommendations to others considering Synthesio:** Of the available options, it's a very strong contender. If I were to review other options for next contract, I would focus primarily on included account services in the contract (e.g. what support & analysis is bundled in), rather than technical tool features, since I believe Synthesio's to be market-leading. If you have the sufficient resource, skill-set and head-count to actually conduct your own analysis, this is a great tool. **What problems is Synthesio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Understanding the scale and content of how real people speak about our category, brands and competitors online. Understanding specific audiences' online footprint in great detail via Profiler (allowing us to create data-led audience pen portraits). Exploring new / emergent categories and behaviours. In addition you have always an option to either export ready to use image of a chart or a raw data for further manipullations in excel. True discovery if you need a real time insights, crisis tracking or social monitoring. Great variety of media types being tracked increases the volume of mentions, and make probability of crawling every possible mention higher. **What do you dislike about Synthesio?** Current way system analyses the sentiment can be improved a little; also would be nice to have an option easily switch between work spaces to decrease the time for data extraction. Adding an option to crawl data from a very specific media type on your own (e.g. one blog or forum or twitter account only). We find this useful for monitoring high volume conversations that need to be validated in a quick period of time. **What do you dislike about Synthesio?** We have a cap on the overall volume of mentions, which limits us. It's not a terrible thing as it forces us to drill down further into queries. I would like to be able to set the stage though for overall volume and then drill-down into the specific conversations. **Recommendations to others considering Synthesio:** Make sure you learn the custom reports and take advantage of the graphics and visuals. A technical user can diagnose and deliver a social listening dashboard, and non-technical ones find it easy and intuitive to use. A single onboarding is all that's required, unlike many other systems, and most importantly, NOT at the expense of insights. **What do you dislike about Synthesio?** The system did run a little slow at scale; Synthesio has been rectifying that though, which is greatly appreciated. Filters are still not universal across all widgets/reports. One issue we have come up across recently is around how quickly the feed updates with mentions. Working in a fast-paced industry like travel means we need data asap and we have found certain searches are slow.
