Our experience with Stripe has been nothing short of a nightmare. We are a small, privately owned veterinary hospital that has spent years serving our community and caring for people's pets. Despite operating a legitimate business with documented transactions, Stripe suddenly withheld and removed nearly $7,000 from our account, placing a significant financial burden on our practice.
What makes this situation even worse is the lack of meaningful support. Trying to get answers felt like running into a brick wall. We received generic responses, little transparency, and virtually no accountability while thousands of dollars that our business depended on remained inaccessible.
For a small business, $7,000 is not a minor inconvenience. That money pays employees, covers medical supplies, supports patient care, and keeps the doors open. The fact that a company with Stripe's resources can freeze or remove funds while providing inadequate communication is deeply concerning.
If you are a small business owner—especially a veterinary clinic, medical practice, or family-owned company—think very carefully before trusting Stripe with your payment processing. Based on our experience, the financial risk is simply too high.
We expected a payment processor. Instead, we got stress, uncertainty, and thousands of dollars tied up with little explanation.
We would never recommend Stripe to another small business.

**What do you like best about Stripe Payments?**

I really appreciate how Stripe Payments makes it so simple to set up my profile, track payments, and manage tax information. The preset reporting mechanisms are a huge help; they make it easy for me to find the information I need for taxes and monthly reports. I love that Stripe Payments is a one-stop shop, making it easy to connect to my website and put all my information in. I use Stripe Payments with my Squarespace account for two different websites, and I love it because the integration works smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?**

Sometimes I have a hard time finding the right words to use if I'm trying to search and look for something. The other thing I found that was a little bit frustrating is sometimes I just don't understand why I can't find what I need and to contact someone in customer service is a little bit more cumbersome than I'd like it to be. I'm of the ideology that if I can click the speak with a representative much sooner rather than later, that's what I would wanna do.

Stripe Payments makes it simple to set up my profile, track payments, and pull reports for taxes. It's great for organizing payment details and seeing financial activities monthly.

even though the relationship has been rocky, I am impressed with the integration-embracing mentality and developer-friendly API and documentation

The most significant downside is the lack of transparent, human-centric support when account issues arise. Despite having a legitimate B2B consulting business, I’ve faced persistent 'rejected' account statuses and paused payments with very little actionable feedback from their automated systems. It often feels like a 'black box' where legitimate operations get flagged, and the path to resolution involves navigating endless support tickets or public escalation rather than having a dedicated advocate. This level of unpredictability is a major risk for any business that relies on consistent cash flow.

**What problems is Stripe Payments solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Stripe was intended to solve the core problem of professionalizing my B2B consulting payments and automating global invoicing for my firm. While the platform excels at providing a streamlined checkout experience and a high-visibility dashboard, the benefit has been inconsistent due to sudden account restrictions and paused payments. While it technically facilitates digital transactions, the recurring operational disruptions mean I have to spend more time on administrative troubleshooting and support escalations than on actual business growth

**What do you like best about Stripe Payments?**

I’ve been using Stripe Payments for a while now, and what really stands out is the simplicity. The setup was quick, the interface is clean and intuitive, and everything just works. I can track payments, issue refunds, and manage everything from one central dashboard without needing to dig through layers of menus or support articles.

It’s also incredibly easy to integrate into websites and platforms. Whether you're selling a service, product, or tickets for events, Stripe makes it seamless. I’ve tried a few other providers in the past, but none matched the straightforward, no-fuss experience that Stripe offers.

From a performance perspective, it’s been excellent. I’ve never had an issue. Payments go through smoothly, and reliability is something you don’t really think about… which is exactly how it should be.

On pricing, I know some people feel Stripe can be on the higher side. For me, the return is in the time saved and the speed of payments. Getting paid quickly and not having to chase invoices or deal with clunky systems more than makes up for the fees.

Onboarding was far simpler than I expected. Everything was clear from the start, and I was up and running quickly without needing any support. In fact, I’ve rarely needed to contact support at all, which probably says more than anything else.

I haven’t yet explored the AI or intelligence features in any depth, but it’s something I’m planning to look into as I continue to streamline how I run my business.

Overall, I’d highly recommend Stripe for any small business owner who values ease of use, reliability, and getting paid without friction.

What I don’t like about Stripe is the way it handles reporting and historical transactions.

It can be far more complex than it needs to be, especially when you’re trying to reconcile past payouts with your bank account. The data is all there, but pulling out a clear, simple record of what’s been paid, when, and how it ties back to specific transactions isn’t straightforward.

As a small business, I don’t want to overthink this. I just want to match payouts with customer payments and understand what each amount relates to. At the moment, that process feels more manual and time-consuming than it should be.

This is where I think there’s a real opportunity for Stripe to improve, particularly with AI and smarter reporting. If it could automatically surface clear, reconciled views of payouts and transactions, it would remove a lot of friction and save a huge amount of time.

**What problems is Stripe Payments solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Stripe solves two key problems for me: taking payments through my website and managing payments for events.

On the website side, it removes any friction from getting paid. Clients can pay quickly and securely without back-and-forth emails or invoices, which speeds everything up and improves cash flow.

For events, it’s been invaluable. Whether it’s ticket sales, exhibitor bookings or add-ons, Stripe handles everything seamlessly in the background. Payments are taken instantly, records are clear, and it integrates easily with the platforms I use.

The biggest benefit for me is time. I’m not chasing payments, manually tracking who’s paid, or worrying about whether transactions have gone through. It just works.

And when you’re running multiple events and juggling different parts of a business, that reliability and simplicity makes a big difference.

**What do you like best about Stripe Payments?**

Stripe offers broad payment flexibility. One of its biggest strengths is how seamlessly it integrates with the rest of our tech stack, which makes it much easier to embed payments into our workflow without a lot of friction. The user interface is also well-designed and generally easy to navigate, especially compared to older or more cumbersome payment systems. We also value the range of payment options, and it feels like Stripe is built for businesses that need more than just basic card processing.

**What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?**

The biggest downside is the cost. Credit card processing rates already add up quickly, and once you start layering on other services—like sales tax collection, identity tools, or additional platform features—the pricing starts to feel excessive. Support has also been slower than it should be for a platform handling critical financial transactions, and onboarding feels mostly self-serve rather than truly guided. Another frustration is payout timing, since getting funds into our bank account isn’t always as fast as we’d like. Stripe is a strong platform overall, but the cost-to-support balance can feel out of sync.

**What do you like best about Stripe Payments?**

I really like Stripe Payments for its ease of integration with any of my existing tools, whether it's a CRM or my back end systems. The extensive documentation is incredibly helpful, making it very developer-friendly. I also appreciate the sandbox environment, which allows me to test and ship developments quickly and efficiently. The initial setup was quick, smooth, and customer-friendly as well.

**What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?**

I think the mobile application could be improved. Today, the world is moving on the go, and currently, in order to access some of the reports or payments, some of the features are not available on my mobile as compared to on the desktop. It's a minor improvement, but it would be very helpful if that happens. Also, the support has been kind of slow when requiring some custom integration.

I use Stripe Payments for credit utilization and find its ease of integration and extensive documentation very helpful.

I have used stripe for a number of clients as well as my own sites, I love the fact you can integrate either their own site for processing the payments or use the public keys and link your own payment page to it to use the system on my own site without redirecting clients to a new site and back again.  It is used a few times a month to withdraw funds and this is so easy to do.  When I first used it I did need to contact their customer support and get help as the keys were not working and they could not have done more to assist.  All the different options made the integration so easy across the board of multiple sites and clients.

When first starting out it can be a little fussy due to the options for set up.

Having the ability to accept payments through my own sites and link to the bank for payout with low charges means I don't have to worry as everything is all in one place.  They also handle all the compliance requirements which takes a massive amount of admin away meaning there is more time to concentrate on the important things like running the business.

Easily the best option, ease of setting up products and pricing. The API is second to none, their new hosted checkout just makes it even easier. Multi currency is also straight forward and pricing is clear.

Pricing will start to add up if you add their other addon features like reports and currencies. Would like it to be more cost effective when using these features. Wish there were better Dashboard reports for active subscriptions and the ability to search them without adding another feature that is paid.

My experience with Stripe has been a technical nightmare and an example of useless support. My account was suspended for alleged 'elevated risk,' completely ignoring the actual root cause: a Stripe infrastructure failure.

Technical evidence obtained directly from the Shopify system showed that Stripe was taking more than 5 seconds to respond to the payment capture request. This critical delay caused the Shopify system to automatically mark all transactions as 'Expired' or 'Failed' due to timeout.

Stripe used its own latency and poor performance to artificially inflate my failed payment rate and, ultimately, suspend my account. Despite presenting them with Shopify's technical diagnosis and the unique request ID, the engineering team refused to investigate their server fault and closed the case definitively.

If your business relies on stability and actual technical support, avoid Stripe at all costs. This is a company that punishes its own customers for its performance deficiencies. Do not trust them; if their server fails, they will shift the blame onto you.

The payment experience for customers is smooth and straightforward to navigate. It accommodates various payment networks, which adds to its convenience. Its global reach is impressive, making it accessible to users worldwide. The trust it has built among customers is undeniable, allowing payments to be collected easily without customers worrying about security or the legitimacy of the website. Their no-code payment solution offers an easy way to collect payments from customers. Additionally, the dashboard offers excellent features, enabling users to efficiently manage reports, transactions, and access customer support.

**What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?**

The transaction fees are somewhat higher compared to other providers, especially when it comes to cross-border transactions. After a payment is made, Stripe holds the funds for anywhere between 7 and 14 days, which feels rather lengthy. While the waiting period might be shorter for high-volume Stripe customers, for those with a new or low-volume account like mine, the hold lasted the full 14 days. I also encountered some issues with FIRC documents on Stripe, having to reach out to their support team to request FIRCs for missing cross-border transactions. Due to the relatively high fees and the long settlement times, I eventually started using other platforms for payment collection. After a period of inactivity, my Stripe account was no longer able to process payments. These factors are important to consider before choosing Stripe for your payment needs.

The process of collecting payments is incredibly smooth and convenient. Unlike other payment providers, which often offer a limited selection of payment networks and options and can result in a less seamless experience, Stripe truly stands out in this regard. Stripe accepts payments in  so man currencies and works in many countries, making it great for when we need to bill international clients.
It's easy to use and very secure.

The basic setups are easy, unlocking Stripe’s full power often requires coding or developer support, which a smaller business may not have the resources to cover. The customer support is not that fast to respond especially if Stripe freezes funds or accounts if it detects risk. The fees can also really add up if not using to scale and capacity.

I'm incredibly frustrated with Stripe Payments. Their customer service is the worst, I'd give it 0 stars if I could. I had a transaction flagged, and after providing the necessary documents, they locked my account, and it's been 40 days without resolution. The payment hasn't been released or refunded to the customer, which feels like theft. The support team has been unresponsive despite my multiple attempts to reach out. They only send the same ambiguous, unhelpful responses. I moved away from Stripe because it was a nightmare dealing with them. Customer service needs instant chat with real people, not just a bot.

Stripe efficiently processes my org's payments and invoices. I like how we are able to create specific line items for invoices that we can then send to the venues for events and programs. Stripe also integrates well with our other payment platforms, including Donorbox and Signup Genius.

**What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?**

While Stripe's automatic tax calculation is convenient, the fees it charges are sometimes higher than we expected. As a nonprofit organization, our revenue streams are already constrained, and the fees charged by card networks, payments processors, etc., only further restrict our budget.

The menu is easy to navigate through and the dashborad as well. It meshes and integrates without much of a hurdle. Also have additional features like Sigma that are useful, although costs extra.

The customer support is a lot of times terrible, like they will respond to you quick but a lot of times the answers aren't relevant to the question, as if they aren't reading it /AI isn't understanding it.

Everything related to payments- we can pretty much let Stripe do its thing without us really worrying about maintenance, monitoring and whatnot.

I get all the details from there. The payment intent switch from charges was the bets they could do. Customer support is very fast and to the point.

Again the same project where we take Stripe api to get the transaction details. Stripe doesnot guve all the supporter details from the platform through which this donations was made. this made us make additional api calls to get those details frm those platforms to get a complete data.

Also if we want which all transactions made it to a particular payouts, its a task. we had to use balance transaction ids and its api calls, expand and soo much complicated.

Despite the issue I am reporting, Stripe has a strong and modern API, excellent developer documentation, and an ecosystem that is easy to integrate with SaaS platforms.
From an implementation perspective, Stripe offers one of the smoothest onboarding experiences for both businesses and developers.
Recurring billing, subscription management, and webhook architecture are well-designed and reliable in day-to-day operations.

**What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?**

My main concern is with Stripe’s dispute resolution system.
In my case, the customer had already been fully refunded before the chargeback was opened — with settlement confirmation and ARN provided. Stripe, however, failed to pass this evidence to the issuing bank, which resulted in the bank assuming no refund was made and deciding the dispute incorrectly against my business.

This caused a double refund: one refund from my side, and another deducted again by Stripe due to the dispute — a loss entirely outside the merchant’s control.

Support was not able to escalate the issue properly, and I received generic responses instead of an investigation into the operational discrepancy. For a platform that handles billions in transactions, this type of internal communication failure is extremely concerning.

Stripe allows my company to operate subscription billing at scale, accept international payments with minimal friction, and automate most of our financial workflows.

Stripe Payments offers a sleek payment interface. It is smooth and accepts most major credit cards. As Stripe is recognized by most online buyers, I think the line "Powered by Stripe" (with their Terms & Privacy) provided on the payment page builds trust with the customers and makes the sales a bit easier or of less friction. Backend reporting is clear and highly detailed. I haven't had an issue that requires customer support. However, their onboarding team has been good. I also like the Link feature. It's easy, simple and hassle-free for returning or even new customers who have their information saved securely on the Link network before coming to your website.

Working out the fees for subscription payments was a bit confusing. Color design on the payment page took some time to tinker with and get right.
