What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Stripe offers broad payment flexibility. One of its biggest strengths is how seamlessly it integrates with the rest of our tech stack, which makes it much easier to embed payments into our workflow without a lot of friction. The user interface is also well-designed and generally easy to navigate, especially compared to older or more cumbersome payment systems. We also value the range of payment options, and it feels like Stripe is built for businesses that need more than just basic card processing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

The biggest downside is the cost. Credit card processing rates already add up quickly, and once you start layering on other services—like sales tax collection, identity tools, or additional platform features—the pricing starts to feel excessive. Support has also been slower than it should be for a platform handling critical financial transactions, and onboarding feels mostly self-serve rather than truly guided. Another frustration is payout timing, since getting funds into our bank account isn’t always as fast as we’d like. What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

I have used stripe for a number of clients as well as my own sites, I love the fact you can integrate either their own site for processing the payments or use the public keys and link your own payment page to it to use the system on my own site without redirecting clients to a new site and back again. It is used a few times a month to withdraw funds and this is so easy to do. When I first used it I did need to contact their customer support and get help as the keys were not working and they could not have done more to assist. The payment experience for customers is smooth and straightforward to navigate. It accommodates various payment networks, which adds to its convenience. Its global reach is impressive, making it accessible to users worldwide. Their no-code payment solution offers an easy way to collect payments from customers. What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

The transaction fees are somewhat higher compared to other providers, especially when it comes to cross-border transactions. After a payment is made, Stripe holds the funds for anywhere between 7 and 14 days, which feels rather lengthy. While the waiting period might be shorter for high-volume Stripe customers, for those with a new or low-volume account like mine, the hold lasted the full 14 days. I also encountered some issues with FIRC documents on Stripe, having to reach out to their support team to request FIRCs for missing cross-border transactions. Due to the relatively high fees and the long settlement times, I eventually started using other platforms for payment collection. After a period of inactivity, my Stripe account was no longer able to process payments. These factors are important to consider before choosing Stripe for your payment needs. I'm incredibly frustrated with Stripe Payments. Their customer service is the worst, I'd give it 0 stars if I could. I had a transaction flagged, and after providing the necessary documents, they locked my account, and it's been 40 days without resolution. The payment hasn't been released or refunded to the customer, which feels like theft. The support team has been unresponsive despite my multiple attempts to reach out. They only send the same ambiguous, unhelpful responses. I moved away from Stripe because it was a nightmare dealing with them. Customer service needs instant chat with real people, not just a bot. What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Stripe efficiently processes my org's payments and invoices. I like how we are able to create specific line items for invoices that we can then send to the venues for events and programs. While Stripe's automatic tax calculation is convenient, the fees it charges are sometimes higher than we expected. As a nonprofit organization, our revenue streams are already constrained, and the fees charged by card networks, payments processors, etc., only further restrict our budget. Again the same project where we take Stripe api to get the transaction details. Stripe doesnot guve all the supporter details from the platform through which this donations was made. this made us make additional api calls to get those details frm those platforms to get a complete data.

What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Despite the issue I am reporting, Stripe has a strong and modern API, excellent developer documentation, and an ecosystem that is easy to integrate with SaaS platforms.

From an implementation perspective, Stripe offers one of the smoothest onboarding experiences for both businesses and developers.

What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

My main concern is with Stripe’s dispute resolution system.

In my case, the customer had already been fully refunded before the chargeback was opened — with settlement confirmation and ARN provided. Stripe, however, failed to pass this evidence to the issuing bank, which resulted in the bank assuming no refund was made and deciding the dispute incorrectly against my business.

This caused a double refund: one refund from my side, and another deducted again by Stripe due to the dispute — a loss entirely outside the merchant’s control.

Support was not able to escalate the issue properly, and I received generic responses instead of an investigation into the operational discrepancy. For a platform that handles billions in transactions, this type of internal communication failure is extremely concerning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
