Our enterprise application use SQL server to store our data. so we as a sql developer works to write complex queries to get data from there as per the business requirments. What do you like best about SQL Developer?

The best thing i like about Oracle SQL Developer is its user interface . It has easy to use platform including its navigation to different features , connectivity to different local environments . What do you like best about SQL Developer?

Oracle is the widely used database as SQL Developer is a nice IDE in many ways which includes :

- It makes very easy to explore the database objects definitions eg: Tables, Views, Packages etc.

- It makes very easy to export data on files.

What do you dislike about SQL Developer?

As soon as a running query is cancelled before finishing, it resets the DB connection sockets which hangs the tool for a few seconds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good Tool. Does the Job. Prefer PLSQL Developer "

What do you like best about SQL Developer?

Has a nice export query result functionality which supports exporting results to csv, xls, as well as a loader script. Easy to use UI. Provides nice to have interface for accessing DBA objects if you have DBA privileges. Has easy integration with version control tools such as GIT and SVN. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SQL Developer?

Not so stable and lags if the query is taking a long time to execute. Hangs if query execution is stopped before completion of a time-consuming query. Cannot keep the application window open for a longer time as the application will stop responding and you will have to restart the application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering SQL Developer:

Free and comes with oracle installation. Has almost all the features which a Developer would need. Not fancy though. If you have a choice, go for Toad or PLSQL Developer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As I have worked in the Financial Domain, most of the business logic resided in the backend. Creating MIS daily and quarterly reports for a major financial institution is the main business goal for our project. SQL Developer has inbuilt features which help in performance tuning of the application. What do you like best about SQL Developer?

I find SQL Developer to be just as powerful / robust as Toad, but SQL Developer is FREE! I've used SQL Developer for many years to interact with Oracle databases. The update process of SQL Developer is lacking. You generally have to proactively seek out new updates and manually install them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
