## Solidus Reviews
  ### 1. Flexible and Powerful E-commerce Platform with Great Extensibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alvaro I. | Director of Web Development, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

What I appreciate most about Solidus is its highly extensible admin panel, along with the seamless integration options available through both GraphQL and RESTful APIs. Additionally, the platform offers native subscription features that are fully customizable, making it an excellent option for businesses seeking flexibility in their recurring revenue models.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

On the downside, we encountered some issues related to memory allocation at one stage, which required us to spend extra time investigating. After some research, we discovered that switching to jemalloc resolved most of the performance issues we were experiencing. However, this is something to keep in mind if you are considering scaling.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus enables us to operate a fully customizable e-commerce platform, giving us complete control over the checkout process, product catalog, subscriptions, and integrations. Unlike many other platforms, we never feel restricted—we can adapt the system to fit our specific business requirements while maintaining strong performance and scalability. This flexibility allows us to deliver a personalized shopping experience and manage subscriptions directly within the platform, without the need for external plugins.

  ### 2. The tool is simple and user-friendly

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tancy John M. | Quality Assurance Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

I like how simple it is, and the processes I use when handling the customer's Solidus Account or making an update are efficient and real-time! It also shows if the customer is a Member or just a regular purchaser.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

There are times that glitches happen, and some histories about who made an action to it won't show up immediately, unless the person who made the action adds a note on the customer's Solidus Account.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus solves problems when handling customer accounts that have a Membership with our client's website and their customer's orders. It helps me handle customer's problem and resolve their issue real-time, especially we handle customer via chats and SMS.

  ### 3. "Way to create ecommerce store"

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** yashsvi g. | Freelance Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

Solidus is a free, open-source platform. We can easily create an e-commerce website from this software. Rails engine has all the features we need for development.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

The Best part of Solidus is that it is a user-friendly, open-source platform, so in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with this platform. I Want to suggest this platform for eCommerce sites.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus guides are well-written. They have a lot of references for how to do different things with the platform. We can create products, run promotions, and apply for store credits, and it's like a mini CRM.

  ### 4. Solidus very easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pinky Marie L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

Easy to navigate. Helpful with tracking orders, integration, monitoring, and everything you need to help your customers and improve metrics for the entire team.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

Our solidus is integrated with another software and usually does not allow us to cancel orders once placed which makes our customers unhappy with the service. so sad

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it is super helpful when it comes to customer service tasks..helping customers...monitoring metrics...and everything you need to assist customers and achieve metrics

  ### 5. Easy to use but slightly outdated

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shelby B. | Product Consultant Supervisor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

I love how easy Solidus is to use! I use it almost everyday, and never have to many complaints.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

The only thing I dislike about solidus is that it looks outdated. I wish that it would get an upgrade.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus allows my company to see the orders being placed and make the occasional order.

  ### 6. Get your online store up and running with Solidus

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

I already had an offline store, but my sales got significantly boosted once I set up my online store using Solidus.
I can easily manage my orders and see the delivery status, refunds, and everything in one go in Solidus.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

Solidus doesn't have readily available documentation and examples compared to other platforms like Shopify.
So it took us much longer than expected to resolve all setup issues and go live.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have set up my online store using Solidus and have received many orders online.
Keeping a stock of my available inventory, orders received and shipment of all charges in one dashboard is straightforward.

  ### 7. Solidus platform is easy to use and also integrates nicely.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

Solidus enables our ecomm and retail platform, and allows for discounts, promos and other front end manipulations to our sales.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

It is a bit dated. It requires maintenance to be fully utilized.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enable us to manage and complete our sales, as well as multiple upfront promotions, pricing, discounts and others.

  ### 8. Order Management at its finest

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

Solidus is a great program for me to see all of the orders for my store. It breaks it down by day and allows me to see how my team is doing. The quick snapshot of how much the order is on the filtered screen is great for a quick snapshot. Additionally, going into orders allows for a more in-depth look at promotions used, shipping status, and a simple process to do returns, if applicable.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

The return process I believe could be simplified more overall. To be able to do a return for an item, it makes me go through multiple steps and navigate various tabs to ensure a full refund. Also, the exchange option it gives is limited and I wish had more of a user-friendly way to exchange items.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus is a great platform to be able to track sales and handle returns. In a business where we are all "online", it is a great platform to corral all of the orders.

  ### 9. Open Source E-Commerce Platform

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

The process is a little complicated to get Solidus

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Those who don't know coding and don't know how to make an ecommerce platform, Solidus is solving for that

  ### 10. Solid starter for Bigger ECommerce stores

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

Solidus is a great foundation for bigger ecommerce sites, it gives a lot of defaults for the starter, and has the flexibility for the custom features

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

Deployment can be a little difficult for the beginner, rest is all good

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus provides an open-source eCommerce platform, developers can build online stores on top of that

  ### 11. Amazing E-commerce Platform to do Business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mosaddek A. | System Support Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

When we go for any online business, it's a primary need to secure our online shop. Solidus is a coded platform with Ruby, a perfect language for providing security to an online platform.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

Though some complexity came across, it's okay because all other features are fantastic. There is no complaint about this app.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online shopping, creating shops for customers, and increasing business.

  ### 12. Solidus, well Spree. Spree without the bugs, the broken community.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

Solidus is a highly capable e-commerce platform that is quickly diverging from its legacy as an fork of the Spree project. Spree was left to dwindle to nothing. This stems from an acquisition by First Data. There is a very lively attempt to continue with the Spree codebase, but the level of engineering and the community is superior in favor of Solidus.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

There is a lot of complexity around inventory/stock management that a lot of stores simply will not need. And for very large stores this can get in the way of scaling if it is not rolled out the right way.

**Recommendations to others considering Solidus:**

If your budget for your site build is less than 30K please consider other options such as shopify.
If your looking to build a complex business and scale it out fast, then this might be the way to go.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus excels at:
*Time to market
*Ability to hire talented Ruby engineers to evolve and maintain the site
*Lower cost than comparable SaaS and On-Premise platforms

  ### 13. Highly customizable platform for online commerce

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alessandro L. | Sviluppatore Ruby & Web, sysadmin Linux, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2015

**What do you like best about Solidus?**

The platform is well built on popular open source software like Ruby, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL or Mysql.
It's professionally-developed by e-commerce experts and hundreds of contributors.
Extensibility, code integrity and security are the main goals of the project.

You will need a Ruby on Rails developer to build and deploy your site, and a good one to build a top class, custom application.

**What do you dislike about Solidus?**

Some parts of the code need improvements or rewrite to become top-class components.
Those changes are already discussed and planned for future releases.

**Recommendations to others considering Solidus:**

Hire a good Ruby on Rails developer, or a team for bigger sites.

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidus is perfect to build complex e-commerce sites with custom features and special requirements.

the app is working very good and I dont have nothing to say

**What problems is Solidus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

solved my e-commerce problems
