"Skillable Makes Lab Development Easy, Flexible, and Future-Ready"
4/5
What do you like best about Skillable?

We use Skillable almost daily across multiple teams to build, manage, and deliver lab environments for our customers. It’s become a core part of our training and demonstration workflow. The platform makes it easy to design labs for virtualization, traditional workloads, and increasingly, cloud-based scenarios. The cloud slice integration is particularly helpful when building labs on public cloud environments.

Skillable has proven to be a powerful and flexible platform for delivering lab environments to our customers. The ability to create labs for virtualization, traditional workloads, and even complex cloud-based scenarios gives us a lot of freedom. The cloud slice integration in particular is a standout — it allows us to build and deploy cloud-based labs with relative ease.

We also appreciate the intuitive user interface, which has only gotten better with recent updates. Features like custom theming, containerization support, and ongoing improvements to usability make Skillable feel modern and developer-friendly. The platform has clearly been built with extensibility and long-term use in mind.

We’re now in the process of migrating from our on-premises solution to Skillable’s cloud-hosted offering, and while it’s a big shift, the overall platform capabilities make us optimistic about the future. From a feature standpoint, Skillable gives us the tools we need to deliver impactful, hands-on experiences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Skillable?

Our main challenge with Skillable has been its integration with Microsoft Azure. While the cloud slice concept works well for many workloads, Azure requires manual scripting in the lifecycle configuration, which slows us down and adds extra steps compared to other environments.

Because we use Skillable so frequently, even small issues can impact delivery. The caching problems—where labs occasionally lose their cached state and fail to load—have been particularly disruptive, especially during live sessions. While these don’t occur every day, they’ve happened often enough that we’ve had to raise multiple support tickets over time.

Thankfully, network latency problems we had earlier seem to have been resolved, which has helped stability.

Lastly, while Skillable offers a solid value for the feature set, we do feel the pricing could be a bit more competitive, especially for long-term adoption at scale. Still, considering the platform’s capabilities and overall ease of use, it's been worth it for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Skillable?

Sometimes, the lab response is not the best. This is rare but it does happen. But, to their credit, Skillable gets right on lab issue resolution and keeps me informed as to the status. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lab Manuals Need Urgent Updating"

What do you like best about Skillable?

What do you dislike about Skillable?

I have significant issues with Skillable, primarily with its lab instructions not matching the lab environment, which is very frustrating. This mismatch forces me to exit the training to figure out how to proceed, disrupting my learning process. It's clear the lab manuals need updating to ensure they reflect the actual lab setup correctly. Without these updates, the learning experience is compromised, leading to inefficient use of time and resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jenny Davis of Skillable

Hi Victor, I'm sorry to hear about your experience! Would you be willing to email me at jenny.davis@skillable.com so I can see which of our customers' labs you're using? With that info, we'd be able to help them improve the instruction set and provide a better lab experience. Thank you!

"Hands-On Learning Done Right – A Game-Changer for Skills Development"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Skillable?

I've had the opportunity to use Skillable for lab-based training sessions led by trainers, and I have to say—it’s one of the most effective learning platforms I've worked with.

What makes Skillable stand out is the real-time, hands-on experience it provides. Unlike passive video-based courses, every session includes interactive labs where participants can actively engage with the material. Trainers can guide, correct, and support learners live, which boosts confidence and understanding on the spot.

The platform is intuitive and reliable, with minimal setup time and a clean interface. Labs are fast to launch and mirror real-world environments well, allowing learners to truly practice what they’re learning—whether it’s coding, cloud, cybersecurity, or data skills.

Our trainers also appreciate the ability to track progress and performance, making it easier to tailor follow-ups and coaching. Learners consistently report feeling more prepared and capable after completing a Skillable lab compared to traditional formats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Skillable?

In some cases, especially with more complex environments (like multi-VM or cloud-heavy labs), labs can take a few minutes to load. While this isn’t a dealbreaker, it can disrupt pacing if not planned for.

The core platform is functional, but the user interface isn't always as modern or polished as newer tools. Some menus feel slightly dated or require extra clicks to find key info

Since Skillable labs are hands-on and often involve terminal or IDE access, the mobile experience isn’t fully optimized. A laptop or desktop is usually necessary for effective use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Critical Lab Tool with Room for Content Updates"
5/5
What do you like best about Skillable?

I find the labs provided by Skillable to be particularly useful as they offer real practical experience. This practical approach significantly contributes to my professional growth by enhancing my learning and practical skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Skillable?

I am concerned about the outdated content in Skillable. Despite Microsoft updating their portal, Skillable's content still reflects older information, particularly for administrative and Entra-related labs. This makes the learning experience less relevant and effective, as it does not align with the current standards and practices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
