I oversee an intranet site for a Fire Department with over 600 employees. Because the site is behind a login, we were limited in what search tools I could embed in the website. We also did not have thousands of dollars to sink into subscribing to a big expensive service full of bells and whistles we didn't need. I came across Site Search 360 after more than two years of searching for a solution, and it checked all the boxes. It could access our site and index all our many, many documents and pages. I was also able to embed it on the site and style it in a way that made it appear to be a seamless part of the site itself (unlike some of the options I'd investigated which took you off-site to a landing page to see your results). When I've encountered problems, the staff have been quick to help me, despite being half a world away. They also helped me get our service billing aligned with our annual budget timing. To those without any HTML or CSS coding skills, there may be some elements of this tool that might seem intimidating if you want to do anything other than the out-of-the-box presentation of their search results (although they do have an online wizard that can help you put together some basic customization). We have a Fire Department intranet used for training and other departmental resources and communications. It contains thousands of documents and pages that, until now, have had no search function. I needed something that could index pdfs, word documents, and other types of files as well as basic HTML page crawling. I also wanted it to appear as if it were a seamless part of the site. What do you dislike about Site Search 360? I saw a statement once, but it did not register with me what they were referring to until I went to upgrade from free to paid service. That was that the free trial is using the highest-paid version, so if I subscribe to the lower-cost version, I lose those great options. If we were to update our own in-house SQL site search, we had before Setesearch360, we would have had to make major changes to our code for php upgrades. I used Google Custom Search on my website for years, but I always hated the long list of ads at the top of the search results and lack of customizability. Now with Site Search 360 that ad-clutter is all gone. My visitors get a clean search results interface. I also really like the search results layover window for the search results. That way the visitor sees the page they've been visiting while viewing search results at the same time. Further, the number of configurations for Site Search 360 is amazing. You can tag images, redirect specific keyword search directly to certain pages on your site, index PDFs, use your Sitemap for indexing, add custom synonyms or a customer dictionary, and much more. Customer service is outstanding as well. I had several questions in the beginning, and in every case I received a prompt and accurate response. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Site Search 360? One trick about Site Search 360 is to disable Suggestions. I found that displaying the search results immediately (that is, to not show a drop-down of linked "suggestions") creates less confusion, at least for me. The sitesearch360 program itself delivers very professional, comprehensive results that are presented in a clean, concise and easy to navigate list! We found this program after the google search function for websites was discontinued a few years ago. Wow...this one was such an improvement! Sitesearch360 was easy to install and implement. We have used this program on two different websites and absolutely love it. As for after-sales follow up: These guys are absolutely the best in customer service and response and it is very quickly evident that they value their customers and intend to keep them. We have needed assistance during installation and in fine-tuning some of the search results on our new site and consistently, they resolve and address our queries in less than 24 hours. What do you dislike about Site Search 360? - The installation can be a bit tricky when you don't want to use the default settings. - The search results were not optimal at first. My saas system did not link onsite search results to Google Analytics/Search console. With SiteSearch360 I can see search results in the dashboard of SS360 as well as in Google Analytics/Search console. SS360 has a dictionary that gives you the possibility to assign synonyms. So you can tell SS360 that car is a synonym or subject of vehicle, so that someone that searches for the word car, also gets results for the word vehicle. You have a lot of possibilities for changing the lay-out and filters but you may need some help from the people at SS360. My client's website relies heavily on PDF catalogs, some of which are quite large. I have been routinely indexing the website and noticed over 100 PDFs were unable to be indexed due to a Server Error (500). I emailed Site Search 360 and received a response within a few hours detailing the cause of my issue, along with a solution.
