**What do you like best about Similarity?**

What I like most about Similarity is its ability to provide depth and clarity to my original work. It provides me with details about the originality of the work, generating a similarity report, if any similarity of work is in my record (research, book chapter, thesis), it helps me to correct that by offering color-coded highlights of matched text and allows me to filter out citations and bibliography. It helps me quickly understand and pinpoint areas of concern and understand the context of each match. Similarity compares submission against billions of (sources) databases, including Journals, websites, students' papers, etc.... I use it to write my academic report and publish research, review papers, and book chapters. I use Similarity frequently as I am a research scholar at the university. It works seamlessly within a learning management system, ensuring convenience for both instructors and students. It has advanced detection features that flag potential text manipulations, supporting a more nuanced review process. 24/7 customer support is available via email, phone, support tickets, and scheduling calls. I believe it is not only a similarity checker tool but also empowers learning and teaching by providing originality assessment. Similarly, it is easy to implement and use. It offers strong integration capabilities with Microsoft, Grammarly, and Canva....

**What do you dislike about Similarity?**

Sometimes, similarity provides false or unclear reports; it is difficult to find real plagiarism issues. Customer support waitlist time is also high, making a negative impact on Similarity.

**What problems is Similarity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Similarity enhances my academic writing, quality, and originality of work. It supports my publication effort by making my work cleaner, enabling a deep understanding of writing, and helping me to avoid common pitfalls. It speeds up the review process, which saves lots of time. Filter out misleading citations, etc....

  ### 2. Most comprehensive database for plagiarism checking but with some caveats

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Similarity?**

Turnitin Similarity checks against a database of billions of online resources, online journals and online books, which makes the most comprehensive database to help an instructor identify potential plagiarism. The highlights that it presents in the similarity report can also work as a good tool for learners to identify weaknesses in their writing and improve them.

In addition, Turnitin Similarity gives you access to Feedback Studio which is liked by many markers/assessors and is the go-to tool for marking an assignment after it has been submitted for similarity. It also allows annotation of the submitted document, adding QuickMarks, qualitative comments, audio comments and rubrics (people love their sliders!).

Thankfully, it integrates with Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Moodle (which I use as part of my work), so you can access Similarity and Feedback Studio right from your LMS!

**What do you dislike about Similarity?**

Similarity presents to the users a similarity percentage which does only that: it tells you what percentage of the submitted work is similar to other work/sources found in the Turnitin database. Unfortunately, users perceive the percentage as an indication of plagiarism. But a high percentage doesn't mean a learner has plagiarised someone else's work. Equally a low percentage doesn't mean that a learner hasn't plagiarised someone else's work. A lot of people the similarity percentage as plagiarism which is not always the case. The user interface doesn't always make it easy to understand that it's the individual matches in the report that can help you identify plagiarism, not the overall similarity percentage.

**What problems is Similarity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Similarity report provides text highlights that can help markers/assessor identify potential plagiarism and also mark the submitted work with quantitative (marks) and qualitative methods (rubrics, text comments, annotations).
