I love that about simian. I am a developer, so uptime is a very important aspect when deciding what to use. A 0.01% is a lot when calculated by YEAR. So, I love that simian is almost never offline. They guarantee 99.999 percent uptime. **What do you dislike about simian?** Their Developer API isn't that strong. Which is kinda bad for me as I develop a lot. Also, it's not encrypted at all. I would have loved to see its end-to-end encrypted. That'd make my data safer. Sometimes I don't want my data to be scrapped by a crawler and seen by a robot, unfortunately now I can't really do much about it as it's not encrypted. **What problems is simian solving and how is that benefiting you?** We work as a team, previously it was tough for us to get any media to another one. I mean, uploading the fine somewhere and then they would have to download them and then upload to the media hosting. Or, the other way around (download from media platform and then upload to somewhere accessible by all the teammates). This problem was solved by Simian. They support both Dropbox and Slack, also Google Suit. This is incredible for us as we use these three a lot and most of our data/media are uploaded here first. Now, a teammate doesn't have to download from there and then upload it to Simian, then again download from simian and upload to G-suit/Dropbox. This saves a huge chunk of our time. ### 2. I wish the library had more organization tools to help me find videos for reels that have not been used in a long time to purge old material. **Recommendations to others considering simian:** Providing streaming video for internal purposes, client deliverables, pitches and, most importantly, archive. Able to rejigger space allocations if Projects become more cumbersome. **What problems is simian solving and how is that benefiting you?** No problems technically solved, but I have used Simian to manage live broadcasts for a radio station and loved it. ### 3. While the two interfaces were very similar, we've found Simian to have some stand out features that made us like this service over the other. Client review postings are really simplified just the way we want them. We like how Simian has worked with us to help customize the interface, removing features that we don't need and being open to suggestions to feature requests **What do you dislike about simian?** There are some areas I'd love to tweak but cannot do so. For example, I want to customize the frame that it pulls the thumbnails on so I don't have to recreate them every time I upload something. For example, set a preference to pull it from the first frame. I wish the library had more organization tools to help me find videos for reels that have not been used in a long time to purge old material. **Recommendations to others considering simian:** Simian will save a lot of time with uploading media for client reviews. The website also looks very nice with company branding, without too much stuff on the page that you do not need. **What problems is simian solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have gotten rid of using FTPs for client review postings. We've also simplified reel creation for new jobs that we are bidding. Interface is so easy to use that everyone in the office can use it ### 4. User friendly. Able to put media ina specific order! Also, their encoding for downloads is spotless **What do you dislike about simian?** Some tagging features weren't perfect, but that would be more of a plus than anything that affects the core function. **Recommendations to others considering simian:** easier to use than wiredrive and more aesthetically pleasing and professionally looking than google **What problems is simian solving and how is that benefiting you?** Makes organizing and sending videos for client preview a breeze. I never realized how helpful and professional it was until I quit my job and lost the subscription! ### 5. I've also used it to build pages for client review of certain production-related aspects. ### 6. It offers all the essential features that I look for in a service: ease of use, some customization, killer customer service. **What do you dislike about simian?** Frustrated by the fact that archival videos have to have their data streaming limited to 3mbps - that is certainly not a future-proof video quality; would prefer to use something more data rich than that when considering an archival spec. **Recommendations to others considering simian:** I would recommend if Wiredrive's getting too rich for your blood. **What problems is simian solving and how is that benefiting you?** Providing streaming video for internal purposes, client deliverables, pitches and, most importantly, archive.
