What is Sangoma Unified Communications Platform, and what problem is it built to solve?

Sangoma Unified Communications Platform is an in-house-developed communications platform with cloud, hybrid, and on-premises deployment options. It brings voice, video, networking, security, and hardware into a communications offering intended to serve varied IT needs and reduce the complexity of working with multiple communications providers.

What languages does Sangoma Unified Communications Platform support?

Sangoma Unified Communications Platform supports 3 languages: English, French, and Spanish.

What company sizes and industries is Sangoma Unified Communications Platform the best fit for?

Sangoma Unified Communications Platform is most represented among small businesses and mid-market organizations, with healthcare, financial services, education, and technology among the more prominent industries.
  • Company size — Small business: A strong cluster of positively rated use comes from organizations with 50 or fewer employees.
  • Company size — Mid-market: Mid-market organizations are also well represented among positive experiences.
  • Healthcare: Organizations in healthcare describe using the platform for everyday business communications and call handling.
  • Financial services and education: These industries also appear among the stronger positive-fit clusters.
  • Technology and retail: Positive experiences span technology-focused businesses and retail organizations as well.

How long does it take to implement Sangoma Unified Communications Platform across a team?

Implementation is most commonly reported as taking less than a month, though some teams are live in less than a day and more involved deployments take longer.
Time to go live Relative frequency
Less than 1 month Most common
Less than 1 day Also frequently reported
1–3 months Reported in a smaller cluster
6–12 months Occasional longer deployment

What customer support options does Sangoma Unified Communications Platform provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through phone, email/help desk, and a knowledge base, including 24/7 live-representative support. The experience can be very helpful and knowledgeable, with issues resolved quickly, though some teams encounter variable response times or troubleshooting that does not fully resolve the problem.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Sangoma Unified Communications Platform from another tool?

Switching to Sangoma Unified Communications Platform often means moving from an aging or difficult-to-manage phone system to a more flexible setup with greater control over call handling. Organizations coming from legacy PBXs such as Mitel, NEC, Panasonic, or Toshiba, as well as hosted VoIP systems, describe gains in self-service administration, call routing, multi-location support, and access to features such as IVR and call queues; cost reduction is another common motivation. Basic deployments can feel straightforward, while more complex configurations may require extra learning or implementation help.

What features or capabilities could make Sangoma Unified Communications Platform even more useful?

The most useful improvements would make advanced setup easier and give teams more flexibility in day-to-day administration.
  • Simpler IVR and call-flow tools: Make complex menus easier to build, visualize, copy, and maintain.
  • More flexible reporting: Expand report customization and make full call-log data easier to export and share.
  • A more dependable mobile experience: Improve app stability and consistency for placing and receiving calls.
  • Richer call-center controls: Add more options for queue handling, abandoned calls, callbacks, and routing.
  • More intuitive administration: Make common settings and troubleshooting tools easier to find and manage directly.

"I've been using Switchvox for the last 5 years"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Switchvox is a solid enterprise phone system at a reasonable price point. I think its biggest benefit is the simplicity of use. When I started using Switchvox 5 years ago, I was still green in the telephony area. I was able to pick up and understand the platform with minimal effort and ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

I would say the biggest thing to dislike would be the additional feature set. For us, we only need basic phone and voicemail functionality. If you ran a call center environment, I don't know how well Switchvox would stack up against the competition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Why I Like Switchvox"
5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

One of the things I like best about Switchvox is the support. If I can't figure it out or need a suggestion on how to proceed with creating functionally they are very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Not much to dislike. Wish it had more SIP and H323 integration for Video devices. Wish it was cheaper for Non-Profits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very solid PBX with nice features"
4/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

The system just runs and requires very little maintenance. Easy setup with only a few small issues to get around. Technical support is responsive and knowledgeable...there hasn't been any issues that haven't been solved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

For the most part there isn't anything I dislike. I will say the cell phone app has been a challenge to get working and occasionally I have to restart the system software because the switchboard gets wonky. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It was simple enough to deploy relatively quickly with little experience"
5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

It was simple enough to deploy relatively quickly with little experience. I went through an extensive learning curve establishing our VoIP network. As a small non-profit school, we found all vendors were aggressively pushing us towards extremely expensive systems that were meant for call centers and not schools. This was the right fit for us and I saved the school at least 50-60K. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

The licensing system was very confusing. The registration numbers and license numbers were a real hassle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"8 years in and still love it!"
5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Features and performance for the price is exceptional. Once you get over a handful of phones, the cost of cloud-based systems is simply too high. Running our own Switchvox has saved us tremendous amounts of money over the years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

The frequency of updates and new features has slowed a bit the last few years, but the system is still rock solid and an excellent value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It's good for what it is"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Good call quality, advanced feature set, cloud hosting, and easy to deploy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Cloud hosted has a limited subset of features vs on-prem, Digium won't give you things like Single Sign On or Caller ID modifications if you're on a cloud instance. It's annoying but those features aren't worth the risk of having an on-prem PBX. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
