What is Sangoma Unified Communications Platform, and what problem is it built to solve?

Sangoma Unified Communications Platform is an in-house-developed communications platform with cloud, hybrid, and on-premises deployment options. It brings voice, video, networking, security, and hardware into a communications offering intended to serve varied IT needs and reduce the complexity of working with multiple communications providers.

What languages does Sangoma Unified Communications Platform support?

Sangoma Unified Communications Platform supports 3 languages: English, French, and Spanish.

What company sizes and industries is Sangoma Unified Communications Platform the best fit for?

Sangoma Unified Communications Platform is most represented among small businesses and mid-market organizations, with healthcare, financial services, education, and technology among the more prominent industries.
  • Company size — Small business: A strong cluster of positively rated use comes from organizations with 50 or fewer employees.
  • Company size — Mid-market: Mid-market organizations are also well represented among positive experiences.
  • Healthcare: Organizations in healthcare describe using the platform for everyday business communications and call handling.
  • Financial services and education: These industries also appear among the stronger positive-fit clusters.
  • Technology and retail: Positive experiences span technology-focused businesses and retail organizations as well.

How long does it take to implement Sangoma Unified Communications Platform across a team?

Time to go live Relative frequency
Less than 1 month Most common
Less than 1 day Also frequently reported
1–3 months Reported in a smaller cluster
6–12 months Occasional longer deployment

What customer support options does Sangoma Unified Communications Platform provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through phone, email/help desk, and a knowledge base, including 24/7 live-representative support. The experience can be very helpful and knowledgeable, with issues resolved quickly, though some teams encounter variable response times or troubleshooting that does not fully resolve the problem.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Sangoma Unified Communications Platform from another tool?

Switching to Sangoma Unified Communications Platform often means moving from an aging or difficult-to-manage phone system to a more flexible setup with greater control over call handling. Organizations coming from legacy PBXs such as Mitel, NEC, Panasonic, or Toshiba, as well as hosted VoIP systems, describe gains in self-service administration, call routing, multi-location support, and access to features such as IVR and call queues; cost reduction is another common motivation. Basic deployments can feel straightforward, while more complex configurations may require extra learning or implementation help.

What features or capabilities could make Sangoma Unified Communications Platform even more useful?

The most useful improvements would make advanced setup easier and give teams more flexibility in day-to-day administration.
  • Simpler IVR and call-flow tools: Make complex menus easier to build, visualize, copy, and maintain.
  • More flexible reporting: Expand report customization and make full call-log data easier to export and share.
  • A more dependable mobile experience: Improve app stability and consistency for placing and receiving calls.
  • Richer call-center controls: Add more options for queue handling, abandoned calls, callbacks, and routing.
  • More intuitive administration: Make common settings and troubleshooting tools easier to find and manage directly.

"Digium - A Good Choice for a Midsize Business"
5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Switchvox is a virtual machine which requires no special hardware when using a SIP provider. The D80 phone is beautiful and includes a bluetooth headset interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Faxing out is clunky. It would be nicer if there was a Hylafax style email interface. Switchvox does not allow operating system access for customization. It doesn't provide the ability to copy call rules to all or multiple extensions. Additional scripting functions would help to make IVR scripts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great support and easy to setup and manage"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

The management interface is very easy to use and understand. Our team had a hard time with our old system and this is just a walk in the park for us. We can easily add extensions and groups, bulk modify extensions, and make changes to our IVR in a few clicks. Reporting is also a feature we did not have previously and this lets us know concurrent calls and logs. Everything is an easy drop down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

There isn't an out of office date range for when I'm on vacation to go back to my in office when I come back. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very simple phone system that is really robust and easy to use."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

The admin page is unlike any other I have dealt with. You can get reports on everything, also manage each individual phone on the network, and even change wallpapers on them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

The only downside that I have seen so far, is the need to restart the system about once a month, otherwise phones get out of sync. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cost Effective Call Center"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Switchvox provides a cost effective phone system for our call center and does not nickle and dime us on licensing. The interface is intuitive and support has been very responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

We would like to see a few more advanced features for the call center routing; however, it's definitely a wish list and we get by without those things today. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Our company has worked w/Digium SwitchVox for about 6 years."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

We evaluated several products before deciding on SwitchVox. We initially went with a competitor and realized it did have all the some of the features we required. We then purchased SwitchVox and have been very happy with the product. It works. We haven't had any downtime due to technical issues. I highly recommend this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

We don't have a click to dial button in our Terminal Server MS-Outlook. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great PBX, Very Flexible"
5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

I like the flexibility to create menus to do all kinds of things like turn a IVR on and off & forward phones at the end of the day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

- The android app needs some work.

- Time frames should have the option to be 24 hour time

- I'd like a way to simulate a different time and date for a phone so I can test time based rules. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Email verification for faxes problematic, reboot of system required for hold music volume adjustment, inability to set hold music volume at different levels for different queues, inability to export call log action details to spreadsheet. "Digium Switchvox takes the pain out of PBX"
5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Super easy to administrate. Once you've seen the lay of the land, everything comes together and makes sense. Finding your way around is cake. Creating an extension, re-assigning, or re-routing inbound or outbound calls at a granular level is cake. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

My primary dislike is the lack of diversity of reporting available. In my current version (6.3.6), there's no way to export data from several areas, which leaves HTML copy & paste as the only alternative. Granted, we are a few minor versions behind. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid Phone System; Super Easy to Maintain"
5/5
What do you like best about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

It is a solid phone system and has never left us down without phone service. Programming, recording, backing up, and restoration are all very simple and most can be automated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sangoma Unified Communications Platform?

Some of the GUI is not very intuitive. But once you learn where everything is, it's not a big deal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
