  ### 5. Rock - A better alternative to slack for teams who can't afford it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saswat P. | Content Strategist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Rock?**

Rock has unlimited free members per space making it affordable and you can sync Rock with Google Calendar, Outlook, and other services. The best part is you can export to multiple formats such as JSON, CSV, and Excel. The best part is you can templatize the whole operation. Just Duplicate a space and you can use it as a template. After 6-7 original spaces for your organization, you hardly need to create templates from scratch. And it's a user-friendly tool.

**What do you dislike about Rock?**

There is nothing to dislike but obviously, it doesn't have features like Airtable or any industry leader in this space. But if Rock comes with features like Dashboard,Data Visualisation and Security features like 2 phase authentication, it will be a great product in the future. But as an avid user I can vouch that the developers are adding more and more features with the new releases.

**What problems is Rock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I mainly use it with the internal team for Data Sharing, Project Roadmapping, Contact Management and scheduling tasks. This is a simple and easy to use tool and not much of a burden on the pocket.

  ### 6. Neat messaging and collaboration tool for startups and freelancers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Irfanudeen S. | Senior Academic Counsellor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Rock?**

Rock is good for its simplicity and ease of use feature. It helps a lot in streamlining the communication within the team and organization. It helps in optimal use of reminder notes without missing those. It offers integration support with Zoom for video conferencing, Ameyo for voice over internet, Google drive for storage, and lot more.

**What do you dislike about Rock?**

In my personal opinion, it is best for startups with minimum to medium employee headcounts, because it lags if we use it for team chat with a high number of participants. It also lacks contact sharing, calendar management, authentication feature to avoid privacy breaches. I often face connectivity issues when I connect with multiple teams in the organization.

**What problems is Rock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Rock to chat with my team and friends during my Work from home periods. Rock is a good all-in-one communication and collaboration tool that helps me in systemizing my chats with my colleagues during my productive hours. I heard that some of my friends in other departments use Rock for project collaboration also.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Rock?**

The ability to add Topics, Notes, Files and team was easy to use. It is good to see that one can establish text and video conferencing from the platform using industry standard tools such as Zoom and Google chat. File upload native to the platform and then using other popular tools is also helpful.

**What do you dislike about Rock?**

The UI and the navigation in the UI was not optimal. Step by step tutorial on how to use the tool would be helpful to easily adopt the product.

**What problems is Rock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online collaboration for students and teachers in education

**What do you like best about Rock?**

I've been using this for a while now and it offers features related to task management along with communication which is a very rare for this type of software to be used in a team.

**What do you dislike about Rock?**

The only thing that I dont like much about this is that it lags sometimes in terms of connectivitiy and does not show any notifications in the macbook. You always have to open it and refresh to get it.

**What do you like best about Rock?**

Rock has all the basic features of Slack, but without charge.

**What do you dislike about Rock?**

Well, it's not as comprehensive. Slack, for example, allows you to track time spent on tasks. Rock doesn't have this feature.

  ### 13. Slack meets Asana

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro B. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Rock?**

Rock is a great messaging tool for small businesses or startups that work a lot with freelancers. It mixes the chat features from the well-known instant messaging platforms, like Teams or Slack, with project management tools like Notion, Trello, or Asana. This allows to include freelancers or part-time participants in the pipeline with no hassle, communicating in an asynchronous way and being aware of what is done, what's being done, and what should be tackle next.

**What do you dislike about Rock?**

The integration of both instant messaging and project management features is very smooth but with time there are new needs that aren't fulfilled with Rock. I miss the integrations from Slack, for example. Those integrations are great to have all info in the same channel and solve most of the problems through one channel. I'm sure those integrations will be there sooner than later and after that Rock will be one of the most complete tools in this segment.

**What problems is Rock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rock solved our communication problems with freelancers. We used several channels to keep in touch with our partners, like Skype, Hangouts, email, or even other instant messaging apps like Whatsapp or even Messenger. Rock helped us to integrate those freelancers in the process without compromising our privacy but adding tons of value to our processes.
