Very convenient software that has built in access to parts look up and ordering along with labor time guides. This is the only software you need. ### 2. There was no loss of customer and repair data. I was able to continue accurate KPI reporting and marketing. **What do you dislike about RO Writer?** At this point, R.O. Writer is bulky to manage as I need an IT person on retainer to handle my in-shop database. There are many newer to market cloud-based shop management systems that run lean, have more features and are accessible from anywhere with an internet connection. **What problems is RO Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?** R.O. Writer managed my customer, vehicle and repair data. Allowed me to estimate and track repairs. Interface with parts houses to build quotes and repair orders. ### 3. They over bill and then tell you they have not. They have stolen $1500 from our company! **What do you dislike about RO Writer?** Billing department is worthless. They are thieves! Sales Dept. wont help at all, neither will the tech dept. They are all thieves and stick together. **What problems is RO Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tech support, sales, and billing departments are all worthless. However, its not intuitive. **What do you dislike about RO Writer?** They don't offer a Demo other than a webinar demo by a salesperson. Not intuitive. I paid, what I consider an excessive amount for training. I can't imagine anyone being able to use this program without an a large investment in training time. The way functions are performed is not consistent, my entire staff felt the same way. Unavailable tech support. Staff got tired of calling tech support so they just left machines not working and worked around down machines. I was always worried my staff would come in to non working software. You have to rely on their tech support to do installs for new machines. **Recommendations to others considering RO Writer:** Do your Homework! Don't buy RO Writer without a proper demo and go through every step you'll do in the course of working RO Writer. Once they lock you in they won't let go! They're on a new platform. However, Based on feedback I have received from other shop owners many issues are still there. I went with a software thats month to month, they earn my business every month. **What problems is RO Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?** After 1 year RO writer did not solve any business problems, it only added problems and stress. It was so much of a problem, I moved to a new software package, while still paying for RO writer. After speaking with them on multiple occasions and not receiving any concessions or goodwill. I just decided to live and learn. I will never buy software from a company that doesn't allow a legitimate demo. Instead of Ro Writer doing good business and just chalking this one up as a loss they continue to bill me for my contract. I understand they are within their right to do so, And I will pay in full as agreed. ### 9. It doesn't crash too often and it doesn't randomly delete data but like once a year I guess? **What do you dislike about RO Writer?** This is going to be a big list. It crashes, its an access database, it doesn't work across different operating systems so it's PC only, it won't integrate with other tools because it is an access database. It's interface is outdated and reporting is incredibly limited. You can't dive into data and there isn't a way to to search for customers based on criteria for sales data, only last name, vin or RO number. Support is slow, almost everything has to be escalated to tier 2, it isn't designed to work with most modern security and software solutions, so if you have a server you're going to spend a lot of money on your IT guy. **Recommendations to others considering RO Writer:** I would recommend looking at cloud based more modern software for your shop. You'll be able to use tablets, access data from anywhere and integrate with other tools that are developed more easily and grow your business easier. **What problems is RO Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?** RO Writer serves as our customer database, point of sale, parts management and time management for employees. ### 10. The system crashes often and when it does the tier one technicians can rarely fix it. Once it gets handed to tier two, you can expect to wait for days for a call back, if at all. **Recommendations to others considering RO Writer:** Don't purchase this software, you will constantly be on the phone with customer support. **What problems is RO Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?** The amount of time I have had to spend on the phone trying to fix software issues greatly out weighs any benefits of the software. ## RO Writer Discussions - [What is R.O.
