It’s easy to set up, and once it’s running, you don’t have to worry about anything—just focus on the test. **What do you dislike about Respondus Monitor?** What I don’t like about Respondus Monitor is that it sometimes lags or freezes, especially if the internet connection isn’t strong. It can make the whole process a bit stressful during an important exam **What problems is Respondus Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Respondus Monitor helps by making sure exams are fair and secure, even when taken from home. It stops cheating and gives confidence that everyone is on the same playing field, which is really important for honest results ### 3. Already had a relationship with Respondus due to having the test gen software. **What do you dislike about Respondus Monitor?** There were other platforms in the industry that seemed to be more current. Test proctoring software like this tends to simply give a false sense of confidence to faculty, and also does not pass the privacy requirements for ou institution. **What problems is Respondus Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Respondus Monitor fills a perceived need for security for some faculty. The benefit to me is that users are happy they feel they do not have to create better assessments. ### 4. We mainly use Respondus Monitor in tandem with Respondus Lock Down Browser in the quices section of Brightspace. Teachers only had to choose a password a few settings, and they are ready to go. It has many customizable options that offer teachers a tool to guarantee honesty in their students ' exams. **What do you dislike about Respondus Monitor?** The installation process in the student's personal computers has been quite challenging sometimes. It would be great if this software could offer a more friendly setup process and automatization of settings for users, specially students with little technological and digital knowledge. **What problems is Respondus Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using Respondus Monitor to guarantee honesty in the admission exams to the university. Different faculties have found in Respondus monitor a great way to assure that students are present and alone when they answer the questions of their quices, especially language teachers (spanish, english and german). ### 5. I can't understand why some professors insist on using when it doesn't really give them control **What do you dislike about Respondus Monitor?** I hate having to use it at all, it makes the process of answering an exam much more difficult and stressful with the added bonus that it can also freeze your device if it feels like it. **Recommendations to others considering Respondus Monitor:** Don't, you're not stopping cheaters from doing so by using the platform and end up penalizing everyone. **What problems is Respondus Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not one actually, the use of the platform would be enough if it was used in a classroom or the student doesn't have any other device to look things on, but given the situation the implementation was really poor and people just ended up using their phones or tablets while answering on the computer. ### 6. It is advised that there be more diversity of data in it. **What do you dislike about Respondus Monitor?** It is difficult to interpret the use of licenses and storage, as unlike LDB, this is of a great cost. **What problems is Respondus Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Interpreting the use of licensing (seats) has been a challenge, in addition to providing support for tool errors (on PCs) is complex, there is a heavy reliance on Respondus and the responses are often very superficial. ### 8. It does a good job at locking the browser so that students do not refer to external websites. There is also the added benefit of being able to allow access to certain websites. **What do you dislike about Respondus Monitor?** Some (many?) students do not have the required technology to be able to use Respondus Monitor. Even with use of the tool, student have the ability to use other means to cheat so this is not a fail-safe solution. **Recommendations to others considering Respondus Monitor:** Consider using alternative assessments to engage learners and assess true comprehension. **What problems is Respondus Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using Respondus Monitor to maintain academic integrity for external/professional credentialing requirements.
