Filled a perceived need by some faculty. Already had a relationship with Respondus due to having the test gen software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Respondus Monitor? There were other platforms in the industry that seemed to be more current. Test proctoring software like this tends to simply give a false sense of confidence to faculty, and also does not pass the privacy requirements for ou institution. I like that it integrates easily in the LMS we are using at the university I work. We mainly use Respondus Monitor in tandem with Respondus Lock Down Browser in the quices section of Brightspace. Teachers only had to choose a password a few settings, and they are ready to go. It has many customizable options that offer teachers a tool to guarantee honesty in their students ' exams. It would be great if this software could offer a more friendly setup process and automatization of settings for users, specially students with little technological and digital knowledge. We are using Respondus Monitor to guarantee honesty in the admission exams to the university. Different faculties have found in Respondus monitor a great way to assure that students are present and alone when they answer the questions of their quices, especially language teachers (spanish, english and german). Nothing for real, there isn't a single thing I enjoy about using the software, it only makes everything harder and more prone to failure. I hate having to use it at all, it makes the process of answering an exam much more difficult and stressful with the added bonus that it can also freeze your device if it feels like it. Recommendations to others considering Respondus Monitor: Don't, you're not stopping cheaters from doing so by using the platform and end up penalizing everyone. Not one actually, the use of the platform would be enough if it was used in a classroom or the student doesn't have any other device to look things on, but given the situation the implementation was really poor and people just ended up using their phones or tablets while answering on the computer. Monitor is a very useful tool, but in a world where decisions are made based on data, the manager of Respondus Monitor falls short in the information available to the administrator. Once initiated in the LMS, it is relatively simple for instructors to use Respondus Monitor. It does a good job at locking the browser so that students do not refer to external websites. Some (many?) students do not have the required technology to be able to use Respondus Monitor.
