"A great way to keep traking of your projects"

What do you like best?

Is very easy to handle, navigation around the gantt chart and a very intuitive way to add activities and create and easy to follow environment to our activities on field. On our planning aspects we can add from the staff and the cost a project may have, and the possible scenarios to it. Also we can handle the time invested on any work we want to do and the balance cost - profit to evaluate the benefits of our company.

What do you dislike?

The software stills a little rough and is kink of difficult to add new activities to a complete gantt chart of a project, already defined. When we tried to add some activities, which happens all time on projects development, we tried to add as a new project, is much easier.

Recommendations to others considering the product

All projects company must have a project tracking software to manage the whole company, this is a requirement when is an engineer company, in order to evaluate how the administrative part of the company is handling the technical aspects of it. Is important to consider technical aspects the company must meet, to be inserted at accounting department of the company, in order to talk the same language on the whole organization.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I solve all the projects my company address on the last year, since keeping track on the projects we are doing on our company, following the costs and the hours we dedicated on each projects is very important to keep the record and see what areas to improve our behavior, such as design and administrative phase of the project.

"Begin Your Project With a Future Vision"

What do you like best?

Every project needs a accurate milestones that has to be completed on certain fix date to avoid handing over of project before deadline. With knowledge of how many employee that are to be working with particular project and knowing their capability with budget and deadline are the only thing that are needed are pre-requisite for starting with ProjectLibre.

Entering data into sheet, automatically generates various chart like network chart, gantt chart, project work flow with assigned employees. If any problems are faced during development phase, tool also provide facility to add comment for that particular module. With clear mentioning of due date and progress tracking facility with cost of module clearly allows budget and risk management.

What do you dislike?

Too much information to be given as input for best result. You need every small detail to be entered for best result, this could be some tiresome.

Customer support is not that great. Though they never ignore it but immediate reply is not expected. This system has improved, though, in past few months but still needs improvement.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Prefer this tool when your requirements are basic to moderate level. No need to spend bucks when your are getting this all features for free on ProjectLibre.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Creating proper planning for project that is to be implemented to give a better analysis and predicting the future. With risk management and cost management facility it helps in deciding your next business moves. In short, nice tools with top ranking in its league. Also easy to handle and modify project outlines.

"Schedule Your Project Precisely"

What do you like best?

Not Only Scheduling, ProjectLibre facilitates flexibility in dates at any point. Its security feature takes care of the aligning dates on its own if you have linked your module to other so change in predecessor module automatically changes dates in its inherited module.

Most liked feature, according to me, is its versatility. Just fill the spreadsheet and in output you can generate 4 charts i.e. gantt, network, WBS, network usage chart along with crucial reports. Additionally, resources can also be assigned to individual module and completion status of the modules can be checked at any time.

What do you dislike?

Once created, changes in the dates can be troublesome. Though its easy to set up but UI is not that great which can lead to confusions while pointing out specific mistakes.

Limitation of number of charts in free version but that's one should not be greedy in trial version. Its paid versions are great though.

New user can stumble while using it but after some analysis or working for a while would surely change his/her opinion.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do not judge book by its cover, UI may not be catchy but it's surely got some differentiating features under its sleeves.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Even the smallest project needs proper alignment of modules by planning ahead and estimating completion of various its branch modules along with its budget which should be finished before deadlines. ProjectLibre has been one stop for Kals Infotech. This tool has easy management feature that supports most of our project out of which most are websites, android and iOS developments. ProjectLibre makes employee stick to the plan and allow them to plan their schedule like vacations or some refreshing stuffs if they complete modules before time assuring them that the project would still finish on time.

"Open Source product project management tool"

What do you like best?

Has many similar functions to MS Project and is a good alternative for small projects where you don't need the office suite integration. Compatible with several versions of MS Project. Although I've not used it on other platforms (MAC OS, Linux) it has the capability. The learning curve was easy since I had past experience with MS Project.

What do you dislike?

Does not appear to have all the functions that I had with past software but since it's open source they continue to add functionality. Have not tried it using the same project file with multiple users yet, so that is still a concern for the future.

Recommendations to others considering the product

They are working on a cloud implementation which we would be very interested in. It would seem this direction would be in line with many companies long term goals.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are a small business so an open source software that covers most of the major functionality we need allows us to limit our cost of deployment.

"Efficient and easy to understand, but lack of features"

What do you like best?

Free and open source.

Rapidity of creation.

Diagrams are automatically created

You can use all the main management diagrams needed like PERT, management of tasks and resources.

It allows you to rapidly see what key points you'll have to clear during the project.

What do you dislike?

Lack of flexibility and strange behavior of the interface. Not always well scaled for the Gant diagrams for example.

Lack of personnalisation (Color of the typography / highligh) which can make it difficult to organize things visualy when you have a lot of tasks going on in your project.

Not very easy to share with co-workers.

The menu and interface is quite old though, not very attractive which affects its user-friendliness.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't use it as the only software for project management, but it's good for the principal and most important tasks for project plannig. It's a good way to create rapid overview as well.

Look for other complementary software to go with it, like mind mapping tools for example.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Time management and resource management during project.

Keep track of the progress in time and manage costs.

Anticipating problems of organisation.

"Very good initiative for replacing Microsoft Office"

What do you like best?

It is open source and in continuous development at the same time, with regular updates. Also, it is free and a very good alternative of Microsoft Office.

What do you dislike?

Even it is open source and free, it still has a significant number of bugs and it is still not so complex as Microsoft Office or Apple iSuite. It still lacks in lots of features and functionality.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I strongly recommend ProjectLibre to users being fed up with Microsoft Office and its updates and silly requirements. It is also open source, so in continuous development.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used it a couple of times for testing and writing some reports and essays for my university courses on my DICE machines in the laboratories.

"Very Comprehensive"

What do you like best?

I love the layout of the software, it's very intuitive and getting better all the time. It's easy to contact the developers and their feedback turnaround is quick. The open source spirit is very positive and uplifting.

What do you dislike?

I have not figured out how to use the software within a team project that does not work regular hour shifts very effectively. Say, for example, i n a situation where a team puts in volunteer hours as they can, or when they can...

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The charts and reports are wonderful to demonstrate visually to stakeholders in a glance and helpful to the team to see the overall picture of a given project.

"Really great Product"

What do you like best?

I really like all the functionalities offered. The different applications are very similar to Microsoft, and that makes it an easy transition. Also, very cost effective!

What do you dislike?

The only thing "negative" is that, if you know Microsoft products really well, it can be difficult to located similar options on ProjectLibre. It's probably still there, just in a different spot, and/or with a different name.
