"SmartLogic Enabled The Business To Achieve The Ontology Driven Classification Of Data"

What do you like best about Progress Semaphore?

The Semaphore software deployment is a simple set of steps to create the Semaphore services, the integration components for SharePoint are supplied as SharePoint solutions and again were simple to deploy, and we did experience minor documentation issues when debugging a failed SharePoint component deployment that required SmartLogic support, the issue was quickly resolved. The Ontology creation phase requires detailed understanding or what the Ontology classifier is to be used for and how the customer business describes itself and the information objects within the business. Working with SmartLogic Information Scientists the creation of the Rolls-Royce classification Ontology went through an agile development and quickly reached a point where the solution delivery was matured sufficiently for production deployment; with further language enhancements planned. What do you dislike about Progress Semaphore?

The method of creating the Ontology Classifier extraction configuration files, is not intuitive and therefore the reliance on the SmartLogic Data Scientist support for the creation and maintenance of these configurations is required. As the language configuration is not a normal IT service this knowledge is not something that we would expect our IT service provider to deliver and this places a burden on the ongoing engagement of the SmartLogic services that is in addition to normal software support costs. What problems is Progress Semaphore solving and how is that benefiting you?

Once the Ontology class structure is defined the model and the power of the classifiaction engine in the identification and extraction of business facts from data is quickly tested in the Semaphore Classification Analyse Tool (CAT). With the CAT and the Semaphore Workbench the Ontology development can be demostrated to the business and the model can be reviewed with the business being able to provide feedback and suggestions for the Ontology developer to respond to. The intuitive interface makes it easy to quickly create and manage taxonomies, ontologies, and metadata.
