"The gold standard of excellence in enterprise storage from the storage industry leader"

What do you like best about PowerMax?

I have been using the EMC Symmetrix product line (PowerMax is the latest generation of Symmetrix) for 25 years and have never, not once, had an unplanned downtime with this product. It is super fast and highly scalable. Data services are all there: SnapVx lets us use snapshots to recreate, refresh, and restore our 30-terabyte databases to test/development instances using near-zero storage space; SRDF replication is the gold standard of replication in the industry; QoS; storage service levels, etc.

Our Del EMC sales and implementation teams are second to none. We truly feel like they are part of our team, just like a co-worker, and not a distant bunch of salespeople who only get in touch when you're spending money. They stay on top of our environment and bend over backwards to help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PowerMax?

PowerMax is a beast of an array, in that it takes time to master all of its capabilities. This is not something that I dislike, but it's the most "negative" thing I can say about it. Although it is relatively easy to administer, simply understanding the concepts regarding the things you are administering takes some time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PowerMax solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our mission-critical, highly performance-sensitive workloads run on PowerMax (e.g. our hospital system's Electronic Medical Record system, Epic). Epic requires predictable, reliable sub-millisecond response time, and we absolutely get it with PowerMax. Also, as stated above, Powermax's SnapVx lets us use snapshots to recreate, refresh, and restore our 30-terabyte databases to multiple test/development instances using near-zero storage space.
