## Polarion Reviews
  ### 1. Good choice for requirement management, I love it!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharon W. | Project Manager, Semiconductors, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

I really appreciate the ease of installation, use, and customization that Polarion offers. It works as advertised and their customer support is excellent. I also value its capability to provide requirement traceability and versioning, as well as track the closure of all questions and comments during requirement review. Collaboration with other engineers on requirements and the change process is smooth, and the flexibility to maintain time-based requirements is very useful. The concise, centralized repository to define new product marketing and customer requirements with a rule-based workflow is a standout feature.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

The memory requirement is a thing you need to be prepared for. Also, training was cumbersome and took longer than was anticipated.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Polarion for requirement traceability, versioning, and tracking closure of questions. It helps collaboration with engineers and maintains flexible requirements per time, centralizing our product marketing and customer requirements with rule-based workflows.

  ### 2. Strong Traceability, Reuse Needs Refinement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

I use Polarion for test management, and it creates transparency between tests and requirements. What I like most is that it's quite easy to create links between the different work items. We switched from IBM Jazz, mainly because of usability and the technical end of life of our previous system. The initial setup was ok, comparable to other system roll-outs.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

{"I find the principles for centrally managed test catalogues and requirements libraries could be more intuitive.","I think reuse and branch functionality could be improved.","I feel that the fact all workitems (requirements & test cases) are treated equal might not always be the best option.","I find a test catalogue is by its nature managed outside of development projects.","When I reuse test cases into development projects they are changeable in the new context or lose information like previous existing links."}

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Polarion for test management. It creates transparency between tests and requirements, and I like that it's quite easy to create links between the different work items.

  ### 3. Powerful Siemens Integration Drives Real Value in Engineering and Supply Chain

The integration with all of the Siemens toolsets in the wider applications ecosystem, if properly deployed it is an asset and drives real value through the engineering space and the supply chain.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

The amount of effort that it takes to deploy, again the support available from the OEM ( Siemens ) and Gold Partners is not as good as it could be!

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Polarion will enable integration through a structured Product Breakdown Structure ( PCI Structure EAI649C ) where we will be able to see all of the product assets throughout the engineering and supply chain space ..

It will also enable effective tracking through the support and service areas of our business

I see no dislike. Sometimes when you write custom handler if error exist in handler then polarion crashes.2

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Polarion managing software lifecycle is possible. When someone commits some changes in git repo we need to track the requirement, changes etc. Polarion allows to track all this stuff. Increases traceability.

  ### 5. Effective Variant Management but Needs UI Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ninad P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed by:** Roland B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

The user web interface
Easier to use than Doors
Possibility to import different type of exigence

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

Use of a tool like Polarion can lead to loose global vision and context because engineer will be focus on requirememt and other information will be lost

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Requirememt managememt of a new installation. It s a project fro; scratch where we try to implement new process

  ### 7. Highly Configurable but Challenging Upgrades

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

I really like the user interface of Polarion and how highly configurable it is. I also appreciate the ability to create custom solutions and integrations. Polarion ensures that our design control process is efficient and gap-free. It allows us to standardize our risks by linking harms and setting automatic consistent scores across risks. The tool is also great for editing content in bulk and leveraging/sharing content in bulk.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

The ability for Polarion to support parallel edits is lacking since overlapping projects that need to touch the same content can't manage this effectively. The branch and merge capabilities are very limited as you cannot merge and branch various links. Upgrades are problematic; we encounter many bugs that need patching each time we upgrade, which shows that the regression testing for new software releases should be more robust. Also, the documentation for Polarion could be more helpful.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Polarion is used for risk, requirement, and test management, ensuring efficient design control. It lets us standardize risks, edit and share content in bulk, and provides a configurable interface for custom solutions.

  ### 8. Comprehensive Requirements Tracking with Room for Integration Improvement

The capability to track requirements at a granular level is something I appreciate as it really enhances our management processes. Additionally, Polarion's audit defense capabilities work really well for us, giving us confidence in our compliance processes. We also switched from JAMA to Polarion because of the better requirements tracking capability, and I found the initial setup to be easy overall.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

I don't like the overall integrations with other tools like JIRA. I would like to be able to import requirements and then test cases directly into JIRA for SDLC.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Polarion for full traceability for user and functional requirements and its ability to track requirements at a granular level.

  ### 9. One-Stop Shop for Product Management, From Intake to Delivery and Reporting

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

Cost might be a factor to consider for our industry.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This would be very beneficial for me to use since I'm in search of a product that can allow me to create an Intake idea from end users and walk it through prioritization to delivering the requirements to our development team and watch it go through the process and deliver to the end user. With reporting features afterwards, this would be an ideal tool to acquire.

  ### 10. Powerful end-to-end traceability from requirements to solution areas and issues

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

The relationships between the data objects, tracing from requirements through the Solution Area to any related issues.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

I find it difficult to navigate at times. The naming conventions for some objects aren't very clear, so it's often hard to tell whether I'm looking at a test case, a solution area, or the requirements.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are implementing Teamcenter, and it has proven to be a useful tool for managing the solution areas and their associated maturity. We have also linked solution link information so we can trace a requirement through to the actual test case. Previously this tracking was handled across multiple spreadsheets, so consolidating everything into one system has been extremely useful from a governance perspective.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

User experience (UX) is not always modern.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Missing traceability across the lifecycle.

  ### 36. Easy-to-Use Tool for Handling Requirements

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

Ease of use with the tool on handling the requirements

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

Need a better UI compared to what has been offered

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Requirement traceability is one of the key component which is helpful in tracking the requirements

  ### 37. A user friendly requirement tool with high potential

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Magnus C. | Requirement Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

I think that polarion is very user friendly compared to other tools. The documentation gives a chance to learn the specifics when doing the configuration, the scripting of widgets is very nice. Overall I really like Polarion and working with it!

The support works nice, nothing to complain about.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

I think Polarion lacks a little in the exporting area. Specifically to be able to export the information that I want in a specific format. The great thing about the previous requirement tool we used was that we could export the information we had in any table format we wanted to excel.

It is sort of possible to do it in Polarion, create an export template for work items and using that. The issue is that it doesn't export the information I want when it has linked work items. I would really want to be able to export a work item with the corresponding linked work items, AND certain fields of those linked work items. Not just a table column with the linked work items.

Another thing in the same area is the filtering in the tracker view. The lucene filtering works but when I want to look at specific linked work items it sort of fails, I can us SQL queries but that is a bit much work since Polarion has like 1000 tables in the database. For example, I want to show all the test work items with a specific field that is linked to a parent work item: "id:TT-47 AND linkedWorkItem.role:verifiedBy AND linkedWorkItem.field.integrityLevel:asilD". Like that.

There is also a thing when wanting to move a work item. When in the tracker view moving an item into a document is trivial. But when I am working in a liveDoc i can't move an item, I have to open the item and then use the move function. I would like the function to be available when I work inside the document.

I also think the function to move a liveReport doesn't exist, it is only possible to move a liveDoc. At least i haven't found a way to move a liveReport yet.

Another feature that would be really nice to have is the ability to create Versions of an work item. Not just using the revision number, but actual versioning.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Polarion solves the issue we have with tracking and traceability of requirements.

  ### 38. Powerful tool with lots more potential to be even better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Judy J. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

The ability to customize and integrate your own scripts to optimize our design control process. Savehooks, workflows, livereports are great and easy to customize. The UI is great. The services team is amazing. Shoutout to Teerawat Meevasin for being always available and quick to respond.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

While the UI is great, we wish it was more customizable by the customers (admins). Specifically, Test Management UI would benefit from more flexibility in customization by end-user/admins. The branch and merge capabilities are very lacking and do not support our parallel edit needs at all. Collections has a lot of unlocked potential. For example if we could generate trace reports exclusively using documents in a specific collection. Table Redlining needs some improvement. Redlines when tables are involved are messy.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complex Risk Management process is made easier with Polarion especially now that we can edit Risk Matrix table content directly in livereports. Traceability is powerful and ability to query using lucene and SQL is incredibly easy.

  ### 39. Robust tool for requirement and test mangement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ayon S. | Software Engineer(JAVA BACKEND), Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

1.Polarion excels in providing end-to-end traceability between requirements, test cases and defects.
2.The LiveDocs feature is very helpful for collaborating on requirements in a document-style format ,also maintains the traceability in the background.
3.It has ability to customize the workflow and the dashboard ,also helps to empower different teams for different requirements.
4.It has integration with the tools like Jenkins, Git, Jira which smoothens the experience
5.It also helps in maintaining a connected development lifecycle.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

1.The learning curve is quite steep for new users,
2.The UI can feel outdated and sluggish at times, improvement needed
3.Customizing workflows or queries (Polarion Query Language) requires deep familiarity, which can create panic or fear of learning curve for non-technical users.
4.The initial setup and user onbording can also be improved with more intuitive guidance.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Polarion helps centralizing the product lifecycle.
It has ability from capturing requirements to managing requirements .
It helps in tracking defects and test coverage.
It enables full traceability and acountabilty, which is essential for audits and compliance.

  ### 40. We like to use Polarion, we switched away from IBM DOORS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gert B. | Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

* easy to start with
* Comment function
* export to various formats
* hosted SaaS which helps us starting quicker

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

* Admin account needs full paid license
* cannot mention people in the comments section (like with "@David")

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We did not have a professional requirements management but Jira, Word and similar tools. Those tools are not sufficient, but with Polarion it supports excactly our process from defining requirements, working them through in collaboration and finally exporting it to a common format to use it in tenders.

  ### 41. Great tool with some potentials

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonas F. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

Presales and Support team
Quite lightweight tool to give access efficiently to RM and TM
easy to customize

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

Admin tasks are not yet as nice.
some more advanced script runner in the user-interface like scriptrunner for jira
More efficient updates and technology modernization, to work more efficient and have a state of the art IT platform ( svn I would not rate as state of the art)

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documenting requirements in an efficient way
guiding users through the process

  ### 42. Etablish

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

The possibility to customize and enhance the system.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

It was easy to implement a landscape. We miss some helping process routes, scenarios and architecture hints to create a more solid landscape without all possibilities to enhance, customize the whole landscape.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We merge some different applications in the whole landscape of Polarion to manage requirements, development of products in software case. So for now we use one application about some different processes in different business units.

  ### 43. Comprehensive ALM tool with good configuration options

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick Z. | Senior IT-Berater, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

The UI/UX is very appealing and clear. The configurations are very easy to understand and set up. The update policy (twice per year) is very good.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

The functionality is limited in the out-of-the-box solution. To work diligently with the tool, extensions (Multilevel Traceability Widget, etc.) are absolutely necessary. The query capabilities are inadequate (e.g., not filterable by explicit link roles - only via SQL).

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The functionality is limited in the out-of-the-box solution. To work conscientiously with the tool, extensions (such as the Multilevel Traceability Widget, etc.) are absolutely necessary. For an ALM solution, some functions are insufficient and must be expanded with paid extensions. The query capabilities are inadequate (e.g., not filterable by explicit link roles - only via SQL).

  ### 44. Polarion is useful, good tool for functional safety projects

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Filip S. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

GUI is quite old fashioned and not so intuitive.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Polarion is very good in creating documents for FuSa certification.

**Reviewed by:** cassidy g. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

the traceability capabilities along with the wide variety of customizations

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

As a Polarion administrator I dislike the need to reindex and the amount of time the reindex takes to complete. I also receive complaints about the Historical Database Index Job that runs for a week following the reindex causing features like baselining to be unavailable

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a Polarion administrator so it doesn't solve problems for me but my engineers use it greatly for traceability and test executions

  ### 47. Polarion ALM - a smart, fast and versatile tool to get a handle on processes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthias K. | Managing Director, Senior Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

Polarion can be used universally for almost all processes and process models (A-SPICE, CMMI, DO-*, GMP, GAMP, ISO9001, ...) in product, system and software development and beyond. Unfortunately, when purchasing ALM software, the focus is usually on development. If you don't have a good consultant at your side, you won't use the ALM tool to its full potential and neglect areas such as operational risk management, lessons learned, team management or customer management.

In a recent conversation, someone said to me that Polarion is like a speedboat. What he actually wanted to tell me is that Polarion can be used for the first projects within a few hours (less than 8 hours for OnPrem installation). Of course, Polarion can also be installed in the company cloud or on a server on the Internet.

Polarion is customizable to the processes in the company.

Areas of application:
 # Product, system and software development with agile (SCRUM/Kanban) or classic methods
 # Operational quality management as part of a framework such as ISO 9001
 # Team organization
 # Operational risk management / risk management for the development projects takes place directly in the project
 # Lessons learned
 # Standard and norms
 # Customer management

Areas of application in the project:
Across the entire process world from requirements engineering and test management to problem and change management, release management, planning, task management and much more.

I would also like to say a few words about the support from Siemens regarding Polarion. From my point of view as a consultant and customer, I would sometimes wish for better support. But this is complaining at a very high level. As a consultant, I have come across many other manufacturers where the support was much worse.

We use Polarion ALm on a daily basis, both in-house and with our customers. We operate and maintain systems at the customer's premises. We advise customers on processes, methods and customizations. We are not locusts, but we can implement everything we advise in a corresponding order. The architecture here is based on a number of open quasi-standards and is very easy to maintain.

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

Polarion ALM is definitely not a substitute for a PLM system. Of course, suitable PLM systems can be connected.

Gaps / weaknesses of Polarion are the multiple project management in the classical sense and the resource management over a large number of projects like MS Project does.

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Navi8 Consulting team is spread out and communication and a uniform view of the data was not easy.

With the Siemens Polarion ALM software, we have a central point of contact where all data can be accessed by all employees. Thanks to task management, tasks can be clearly delegated and the author is notified of any changes.

Collaboration on company topics such as the installation of an operational quality management system such as ISO9001 can also be easily implemented.

Polarion ALM always adapts to the needs of Navi8. It can be used equally in product, system and software development and also as an inter-company risk management or lessons-learned system.

For us, Siemens Polarion ALM is a tool for many different tasks and activities.

**Official Response from Yolanda Dong:**

> Matthias, thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about Polarion ALM. We appreciate your insights on its versatility and potential for various processes. We understand the importance of having good consultants to fully utilize the tool, and we strive to provide support to help maximize its benefits.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian W. | PLM Technical Delivery Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Polarion?**

Covers requirements gathering from software to products

**What do you dislike about Polarion?**

Clashes with requirements gathering on products from Teamcenter.
Seems to need lots of config / JavaScript to do simple things, eg risk dropdown list from 1 to 10 doesn't understand these as values.
Licensing model confusing

**What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hopefully will solve requirements gathering
