I appreciate phpMyAdmin's interface, which is like a form, making it easy to use without needing to write SQL code. It simplifies creating tables, passing constraints, and setting primary and foreign keys. I also like how it's accessible to non-developers who know some basics, allowing them to create and manage databases effortlessly. Additionally, phpMyAdmin is cheaper than other platforms and is easy to host on any platform. The user experience is also a plus for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a few areas in phpMyAdmin that could be improved. Sometimes, the user interface feels a bit complex, especially when dealing with long tables, as the form-like structure can be too large and cumbersome. A more modern interface with better search and filter options would be helpful, along with clearer error messages. Additionally, the process of importing and exporting live databases could be faster, as it takes quite a bit of time currently. The initial setup can be tricky too, especially for beginners. Clearer setup guidance and troubleshooting messages would make the initial implementation easier, as the server setting instructions are not very clear and could benefit from some default recommendations for users to start with. Overall, these are areas where phpMyAdmin has room for improvement, though they don't overshadow its utility as a platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
