There is some frustration as it relates to specific functionality across all of the different platforms. Where one of the SDKs might have support and have a specific interface they don't all have the same functionality and the same interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that Apryse PDF SDK has very good features, especially when we use it with PDF files. It was easy to set up because everything was well documented. I think it should handle documents which have a mix of portrait and landscape pages in a better way. Right now if we have mixed-size pages document, and we do fit width on a portrait page, then it shows a horizontal scroll because there are landscape pages as well in the document. I wish it had the same capabilities as Word, like bookmarking and inline text editing. For example, when test is edited, it overlaps with the page number and the footer instead of carrying onto the next page. It treats each body of text like a text box. The initial setup was somewhat challenging to integrate with Power Platform. The performance and speed of editing could be improved for larger more complex documents. The run speed of the HTML to PDF conversion in the latest version is much slower than earlier generations. If the number of process calls per hour continue to increase, we may need to find another product that runs more efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find the documentation really excellent, which makes everything so much easier to implement. The customizability of the UI is great, especially since it uses React, which is really easy to interface with. I also find the redaction tooling really easy to work with, which is much simpler compared to my past experiences with similar tools. Additionally, the support group available online has been really instrumental in implementing it flawlessly. I think the PHP support is somewhat lacking. We are actually in the process of moving to a Python-based library implementation of Apryse. So that could be further improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that Apryse PDF SDK basically works for our needs. It allows us to fill template strings, which is a crucial part of our workflow. It also lets us use a DocX template instead of an HTML template, which I find more intuitive for our users. I don't like the initial setup process for Apryse PDF SDK; it was a little rough. We tried to work through issues with the Apryse team, and it seemed like a lot of times they didn't understand what we were asking for. The problems are more with the Apryse web viewer editor. I really think their support is very good, maintaining open communication whenever we encounter issues. The functionality of Apryse PDF SDK works just as expected and is basically everything we need for displaying PDF files and images, including basic viewing functionalities like zoom and comparison. Also, it supports different file types and optimizes files for slower connections. The interface is very familiar, much like Adobe or Microsoft Preview, making it easy for users to handle PDFs as expected. My favorite feature is the ability to incorporate personalized PDF functionalities within the internal systems with minimal disruptions to the user workflow. Apryse is constantly used to create and alter reports in real time. It has proved to be reliable with massive, complex, annotated, and data rich documents. Manual PDF edits, external applications, and other tools have been eliminated due to the programmatic control. I found the initial setup daunting and overwhelming. The documentation is thorough, but I found ‘which parts’ I needed and how they fit a puzzling so splitting documentation into smaller parts would be useful. My favorite capability of the Apryse PDF SDK is its ability to automate document workflows within internal applications: merging pdfs, appending e signature fields, and text retrieval for report generation and other timely tasks. Ever since the applications and workflows have been automated, there is no need to manage different formats of PDF documents emerging from various users. It has been quite a while since I have encountered issues like inconsistent formatting of documents or PDF files breaking. The volume of documentation at time resembles a cluttered bookshelf where one has to sift through an exhaustive array of classes and methods just to find the most relevant example. I’ve run into problems with pdf files that did not render the way I expected and had to troubleshoot. The pdf sdk software support for business processes is decent, especially, when one is trying to figure out the most simplified suggestions suitable for small enterprises. What I like the most about Apryse PDF SDK is that it is very rich in features and very reliable. I've tried using libraries by Syncfusion PDF viewer or open-source using PDF.js; however, Apryse on every occasion feels snappier and more elegant and is just easier to work with. My main problem with it is that licensing is inflexible and sometimes expensive, especially when I need only a portion of the SDK for a particular project. Periodic updates bring in breaking changes, demanding more time to debug. Also, even though many of the examples are helpful, I have hit upon sample code that was not entirely current, a thorn in the side when time is of the essence.
