**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

Adaptability to complex setups and needs.
It can be really customised to fill needs of big corporations.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

Really poor performance, due to complexity.
Setups are easy to break by non experienced users.
Also technology stack used quite old.
Documentation is poor.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

If your business has really complex needs in terms of a CMS TeamSite probably will be able to satisfy those needs and you will be able to create a complex setup, but with the downside of a tool that is oldfashioned and slow in terms of performance.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CMS solution for multisite company with complex needs in terms of brands, licenses and languages.
Teamsite can be really customized although not easy to achieve that level of customization what will attach you to the product for the long term.

  ### 2. An end to end Web content management tool.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Meenakshi B. | Consultant, Management Consulting, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

TeamSite is still the best off the rack WCM item. It has all elements that a Web Content Management ought to have including templates, workflow and substance administration modules. It is anything but difficult to utilize and just works. It is effective and fit for taking care of even the biggest of sites. It has been proved really helpful in acquiring customers.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

TeamSite is based on a stage that is difficult to bolster - you'll need specific ability sets to design it and bolster it. Under the hood the item still runs extremely old complex configuration. One of the things which I felt was that OpenText TeamSite is costly to buy and own and is a bit overpriced. Apart from this, pretty much satisfying experience.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It permits us to deal with numerous destinations from one Web Content Management software and to guarantee a solid level of security. Most of my activities are undertaking scale WCM usage that by and large last up to a year. Simplifying and guaranteeing things are done rapidly in a compelling and brisk manner with TeamSite and alternate items in the TeamSite suite. We permit our business accomplices more control over their substance while keeping up consistency in the look/feel of our destinations.

  ### 3. Simple to use CMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankita J. | Community Manager, Internet, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

TeamSIte's foundation guarantees that your site is behind an exceptionally secure layer of insurance. This permits us to execute best practices over the greater part of our web properties. There were a few repetition assignments I expected to finish each day, so I could change and adjust as much as I had to the local usefulness of Teamsite by doing overhauls in CMS amicable path.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

It's not the most noticeably bad CMS I've ever utilized. Maybe absence of correspondence around overhaul requirements for our clients however I think I've not discovered information in right thing on the site. Lots of bugs and disturbances because of combination with TeamSite.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The organization that I work for offers composed and created sites, so we are frequently taking care of our customer's issues as opposed to our own. TeamSite is a genuine valuable instrument to manufacture a simple life for our clients. We had numerous engineers chipping away from various areas with particular nearby arranging ranges and to see it meet up and spill out of one page to another was pleasant.

  ### 4. Easy to use!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

Simple and easy to use, the different branches make it easy to organise folders to make it quicker to navigate around the site. Easy to push pages live, great to be able to see them in a queue before you actually push them in the workflow. Great template for building pages with being able to just drag and drop components right on to it. Saves a lot of time being able to do this as you aren't messing around having to locate the right files.

Easy to navigate as well, everything is where you'd normally expect it, easily laid out, user friendly and does what you need it to.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

Think it could look a lot more modern, for a bigger company like HP, it would look better to keep it a bit more modern. I think it looks quite outdated especially when companies are having to look at it for large periods of time in the day.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

Really good product to be using to manage pages. Easy and simple to use, would definitely recommend it to save time if you are working on big scale projects.

If you want an easy to use system to use then i'd definitely go for it.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

pushing pages live for a company, editing and developing pages through teamsite to end up with the page in run time. Simplifying and ensuring things are done quickly in an effective and quick manor.

  ### 5. HP TeamSite Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian H. | Content Coordinator, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

It has many features that allow any enterprise business to securely update their website. There are a lot of functions that can be set up within this platform to accommodate large scale requests.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

If not set up properly, this program can be very glitchy. I have been using the program for two years now and I have seen my fare share of issues.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

TeamSite is a program that should only be used for enterprise businesses that have backend developers in place to update the constant demand for change.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this program to with one of the largest global consumer electronics brands in the country to distribute our e-commerce products, but we are looking to increase our use of design within the CMS platform. We are also looking for a program that will allow an easy transfer of data, which TeamSite lacks.

  ### 6. TeamSite/OpenDeploy 7.3.2

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David S. | Senior Interwoven Engineer, Airlines/Aviation, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

OpenDeploy is the best product they have - it is easy to use and just works. The error logging is decent - sometimes you have to search different logs to find the source of a problem, but it's usually something that makes sense when something fails. TeamSite is still the best off the shelf WCM product.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

The product documentation is horrible. It's not easy to configure any of the products. Some of the core functions haven't changed since the earliest versions of the product. It's very difficult to create customized workflows. Support is sketchy - how helpful it is usually depends on whether you get an onshore support engineer (better help) or an offshore support engineer (less helpful).

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

The trend is to go with open source, and if you can find open source products that fit your needs and you have the time and expertise to configure it to your needs, then that may be a good path. However, if you need an off the shelf, established and fully supported product, TeamSite is probably your best bet. It is costly to install and maintain, but it is still an industry leader and it works well for what it does.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are templatizing several web fragments for Marketing to use to make it easy to update a significant amount of web content on our public facing website. They can make immediate site updates or schedule updates out in the future - it makes life much easier for our Marketing users. Having a consistent platform to version and update web content has allowed the application development and Marketing teams to focus on other aspects of the site. We can track content updates for the last several years for auditing purposes.

  ### 7. Enterprise product for major sites

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andy K. | TeamSite/CMS Architect, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

TeamSite is in use at some extremely large environments. The scalability of TeamSite allows tens and even hundreds of projects on the same development server and push to disparate runtime environments independently.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

The browser interface is a blessing and a curse. Because of the browser interface, there is no client install. However the product is dependent on the browser level and Java, which HP is not quick about validating. Many customers are using TS 7.3.2, which is a fairly recent version, but not the latest. However the official supported browsers are FireFox 14 and IE 9.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

Cloud offering is quite helpful. Have some experience to help. I have seen some very poor implementations that were not successful because of some back architectural decisions.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have about 25 active projects using TS and hundreds of content developers pushing content live daily. Each project has their own templates and workflows to implement their own policies and procedures.

  ### 8. TeamSite is a powerful framework not a ready-to-use OOTB product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan B. | Vice President - Senior Technical Consultant, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

TeamSite is a customizable framework of applications that covers the complete publication cycle from content contribution, publication workflows and presentation. Each step in the process can be customized to meet your needs. It is very powerful and capable of handling even the largest of websites (size and throughput).

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

It is difficult, at times, to work with. The TeamSite suite of products is not something you can install over the weekend and have a site up on Monday. Because it is so powerful there are a lot of pieces and parts to be setup/configured to give you the results you want.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

Engage with HP or an HP Partner to plan your installation and the actual installation itself. Do not attempt to this up yourself. Sizing, as with any vended product, is important.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

with TeamSite and the other products in the TeamSite suite we allow our business partners more control over their content while maintaining consistency in the look/feel of our sites.

  ### 9. TeamSite and LiveSite review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

Highly customisable and scalable. Can do pretty much anything you'd want due to its tool kit nature if you know what you are doing. Versioning, workflow and deployments and very strong

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

Software installs as generally more difficult than they should be. Old version of TinyMCE used.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

The software is highly customisable and there are generally several ways of doing any one particular thing. This makes for highly varied implementations, some good and some bad. One of the biggest mistakes companies make after buying TeamSite with or without LiveSite is hiring people without the correct experience resulting in the software getting a bad name and semi successful projects. It is also important to note that there is a significant jump between 6.x and 7.x of TeamSite and if your are implementing LiveSite check the people building the solution know how to implement TeamSite AND LiveSite. Smaller, niche consultancies are generally much better than your household names. If the consultants start talking about Perl run for the hills everything should be done in Java these days. Also if you are using LiveSite go with Java over .Net unless you really have to. There are very few .Net implementations out there and you'll struggle to find the people who know how to implement it properly. Also if you are doing a site redesign engage the LiveSite developers early on so the HTML designers can work with them.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most of my projects are enterprise scale WCM implementations that generally last up to a year. These tend to include the management of multiple sites by 100s of authors doing 100s of changes and deployments a day.

  ### 10. TeamSite is great... if you can afford it.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cory S. | Sr. Director of Digital Operations, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

It's highly configurable. If you're a large organization and can afford the license fees, configuration requirements and can support it within your infrastructure its a good solution.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

It's a costly total cost of ownership. The package itself is expensive to purchase and own. It built on a platform that is not easy to support - you'll need specialized skill sets to configure it and support it. Its doesnt play well with many other applications.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

As with any software... do your homework. Dont make a decision on the sales pitch and demo alone. Have your technical staff do a deep-dive into the system to ensure that its (a) going to meet ALL of your requirements and (b) ensure that if you want to connect it to any 3rd party systems that you make sure that TS can support it.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My experience with TeamSite was working within a LARGE financial services organization. We were building an extremely large web presence to accommodate 100+ business units and we needed a CMS that could handle many different content contributors and workflows. TeamsSite was able to do this but not without some considerable pain. The version that we implemented was based on Tomcat... which was a problem for our security and support teams as this organization was a primarily Microsoft-centric environment so we had to hire an entire support team just to support these servers on the raised floor. Then the buildout/implementation was rife with problems because we were trying to integrate it with a lot of internal systems and the TeamSite support infrastructure was not much help. Many of their solutions to our problems had never been tried before and it seemed like they were just spitballing. I left the company before the end of the project but I can tell you that it took over 2 years to get this site built and live primarily due to the issues we experienced with TS.

  ### 11. Powerful capabilities but lacking a top end editor experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

Really powerful customisation capabilities, both in terms of what you present to the front end but also in terms of the abilities to customise the editing interface, custom preview page types, custom forms editing using FormAPI, making it easier to craft solutions that match business processes rather than processes having to adapt to the CMS tool.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

At the time I used it, there was limited support for full integration of multi-variant testing and other personalisation features that other tools perhaps had already adopted.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

Carefully appraise the variety of .net solutions (EPiServer and SiteCore being the main players) to ensure that Teamsite is definitely the right tool, I feel it has perhaps fallen a bit behind in the last few years.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to deliver very bespoke solutions to a variety of business CMS needs, working within and alongside their existing offline processes, presenting them custom front end editing screens that guided and helped them through complex tasks and made easy ones as efficient and quick as possible.

  ### 12. TeamSite introduced me to the CMS world

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ravishankar (Ravi) R. | Group Engineering Manager. Digital Marketing. Technology, Operations and Services., Banking, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenText Web CMS?**

Abstraction of production environment from authoring/dev environment for enterprises using Open Deploy. Workflow modeler enables customize to all needs of an enterprise.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

The whole product has not updated itself to the new technologies and practices available today. Under the hood the product still runs very old complex design.
When a person updates a component he/she has to regenerate/publish all the reference pages once again. This is a huge design flaw. In any other web technology ASCX and JSP files allow modularity and help make change in one place and experience everywhere.
Version Control must have been GIT or something externally configurable.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Content Management (Authoring, Managing, Persisting, Publishing, Workflow etc)

  ### 13. TeamSite and LiveSite Solutions to provide faster and better online experiences.

2) Multisite Management
3) Emulator ( Various Mobile Preview )
4)Social Media Integration
5) Multi variant a/b testing
6) Targeting

**What do you dislike about OpenText Web CMS?**

1) Logging Mechanism ( IF any error it's writing whole html content in server log )
2) Required backend file system access for achieve some of clients requirement.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Web CMS:**

It's would be great make all the filesystem entries in UI level and also backup and restore system need to simplify the process would be help.

**What problems is OpenText Web CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**
